- trghpy, on 10/12/2007, -9/+41Hmmm,
My 89 camery has been stolen 3 times... Its also ranked #3 on the list... go fig.
Does anyone find it funny that dodge has the only car newer than 2k on the list?
Is it such a piece of crap that people report it stolen so they can dump it in the river and get something new?
Secondary list, Cars even thief's aren't willing to drive:
* Ford Taurus
* Pontiac Vibe 4WD
* Buick LeSabre
* Buick Park Avenue 4dr - spudnic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+28Is there a beginning?
- JoeRandom, on 10/12/2007, -6/+34"theifs"? not even close.
- spudnic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+30It would only be the "10 Most Wanted Cars by thieves in US" if there were equal numbers of each car out there.
If theres 10 million Toyota pickups out there and only 5000 Ferraris more Toyota pickups are going to get stolen than Ferraris.
Then you've got to factor in which cars are easier to steal, and which cars are more likely to be in areas where the crime rate is higher.

d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y - peppaz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16I was actually hoping to see 5.0 Mustangs on there. Mine got stolen twice (in NYC), and I found it and stole it back twice! They took my stereo, iPod and camera (just got home from vacation and stopped by work for my check) This is WITH a $300 Viper alarm, that was bypassed with a code scanner (as I locked my car, they picked up the frequency). Then they used alligator clips attached to an external ignition switch to start it! all that technology for a $4000 car?! go steal some rich pricks Lexus, you know he's got theft on it.
Cops told me they steal mustangs in NYC and drive them to container ships in Manhattan, then they go overseas and sell for about 10 grand. now I believe him. - CobolNoFun, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Here is this list without having to go yo StateFarms Page.
The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB®) has compiled a list of the 10 vehicles most frequently reported stolen in the U.S. in 2005.
1. 1991 Honda Accord
2. 1995 Honda Civic
3. 1989 Toyota Camry
4. 1994 Dodge Caravan
5. 1994 Nissan Sentra
6. 1997 Ford F150 Series
7. 1990 Acura Integra
8. 1986 Toyota Pickup
9. 1993 Saturn SL
10. 2004 Dodge Ram Pickup - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17The lack of American cars on that list is startling. Guess no one wants to steal a car only to have breakdown in the getaway.
Come to think of it I know someone who had 1989 camry stolen. Wow. - Dayz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17thats funny. if you look in all the hick states they all steal american cars.
- Andrico4, on 10/12/2007, -6/+18Who the hell wants to steal a 1986 Toyota Pickup?
- ChronicColonic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13I love my escort too...just don't tell my wife.
- diggish, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Check out this list from MSN Autos. If I read correctly this list is total claims divided by volume of cars registered per vehicle.
The CCC reports the ten most stolen vehicles for 2005 are as follows:

Top 10 stolen vehicles by state

- SwissCamel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I am presuming that is total number as opposed to per number of that particular vehicle. I am sure that the Lancer Evo IX was Britain's most stolen car 'per carpita' last year.
- Ibanezfoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Mine was stolen by a crackhead, and the cops shot him!
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Funny, nobody steals my mid-70s land yachts. They're probably afraid to run out of gas before they get to the end of the driveway.
- Osiriscky3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5"Does anyone find it funny that dodge has the only car newer than 2k on the list?

Actually it's not as much that it's a piece of crap, but the parts are simple to remove and have a high resale value making it a treasure chest for chop shops. My dad had a 2005 ram and some damn hispanic guy stole it and they found it in a drug bust a few months later almost fully stripped.... - tacojohn48, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5So I guess this means my Ford Escort is safe.
- wzrds3, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6@andrico4
What's not to love about 86 Toyota Pickups? They've got the frame of a Highlander and the axles of a 4Runner. - Centrophy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Who would steal a Dodge Caravan?
- jbiggs12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Are you so bad at your English that you don't even know this web page is about crappy cars!!!???? Post your comment somewhere else!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4i think you only get $10'000 for a perfect one, but if you get it resprayed for a $100 just around the corner it'll be good to go. i think once you've stolen enough you can get free cars or something, it's been a while since i was there...
- weister42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Pssshhh, the Ford Taurus are decent daily cars especially the SHO, can't believe no one steals them.
- wvannus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Before fuel prices went up, the most stolen cars were all SUVs. People steal cars to sell the parts, right? Please tell me they don't drive the cars....
- Nougat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Who the hell wants to steal a fifteen year old car? I interpret this to mean that most car thieves are not professionals, but rather joyriders and crackheads.
- redlemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@gabbercomau
what - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3mine was an ultra-theft magnet. i had three radios knicked and the car itself ended up getting taken once. in england ford escorts and vauxhall astras were the most stolen cars -- some of the performance models like the cosworth, or to a lesser degree, the gte became nearly impossible for some people to insure
of course if you kept it clean it attracted them right in, like magpies - bearda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@superal1394
Don't bet on it. High-end cars are generally harder to steal, and harder to fence afterwards. In my area the middle-of-the-road vehicles are the ones that turn up missing or are broken into more often. The parts that get stripped are in demand (and the owners of like vehicles are more likely to get parts from a chopshop than a BMW owner insisting on new OEM parts), and there are so many for sale recovering the vehicle is like finding a needle in a haystack. - nickerbocker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I like how Alaska is all pickups and SUVs.
- subarusqueege, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2WOW! What a load of crappy cars.....Nothin' like robbing the poor
- Ibanezfoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Hey I'm not poor, but my 86 Toyota kicks ass. Its over 20 years old and drives fine, 4WD takes me wherever I want, goes over jumps and survives just fine... has ~300,000 miles on it. Try that with an American vehicle.... hell my wifes Chrysler barely has 50k on it and its already been in the shop more times than I can count...
- brianjlowry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Most of the list for Montana are pickup trucks. Ha!
- audguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You can't steal what's not on the road.
- buildmorerobots, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Buick might like that list. They may finally have a selling point, "nobody will want to steal your car."
- superal1394, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3its by sheer volume, not percentages based on how many are in the wild. I bet if it was by that, the cars high on the list would be a whole lot nicer. The ones on there most stolen are just everywhere you turn
- martin308, on 10/30/2007, -0/+2Well if you look at NZ's list, most of the top arent bad at all -> http://www.security.org.nz/Vehicles_highRisk.php
- mannymix03, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@ oni308
they steal them because they are common cars and they take the cars for scrap parts and sell the parts, often the parts are worth more than the car -
