- grumpyrain, on 10/12/2007, -10/+50> That video was painful. I especially hate how the english news channel was acting so smug about it though. There are loads of stupid people in the United States, but seeking them out and asking them questions they don't know the answer to doesn't represent the knowledge of a whole country. I could go to England and do the same thing. *****. How dare they make our country look worse than it already does.
I find it quite humorous that you think they are 1. English and 2. News Reporters. The accent and the country that was labelled France, Iran and North Korea (at various stages) on the who we should bomb next board should have given a hint.
The Chaser is an Australian satire show (think Borat). In the extended version of it he is wandering around introducing himself has Prime Minister John Howard of Australia. But the US is certainly not their only target, they are frequently turning up to news conferences in their speedos, walking a horse into a convenience store, hugging the prime minister while grasping a battle axe or hopping into the boot (trunk) of a taxi (cab).
For the record, it wasn't an April Fools prank either, it was aired on TV last year. - kutza, on 10/12/2007, -3/+42How is a video from over a year ago the #1 April Fool's Day prank?...
- captinherb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+36It's videos like that that I am against the whole "get out the vote" campaign. If you don't want to vote, or don't even know an election is coming up, no problem feel free to stay home.
- davidrools, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24it was yesterday and they're already classic??
- inv1c7u5, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25you guys are all forgetting adult swim's prank... I thought it was pretty LOL
they announced all week that they were going to premier the new Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theatres movie on adult swim Sunday night at 10:000 PM, and well, they did, but it was about 25 pixels large on the bottom left hand corner of the screen.
I'm still waiting for the blown up youtube version.. and it's actually premiering April 13th, you guys should check it out - Jubalicious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20I didn't realize that movie was going to come out so soon so I did a little stumbling around and came across this page:
http://www.adultswim.com/shows/athf/movie/indexLb.html
It reminded me of when most of the internet used to look like that. - acdcfanbill, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18If you film long enough, you could find answers like those in any country.
- dgh1973, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18My god that video was pathetic... we really do look like a bunch of dumb ***** to everyone else... don't we.
- jmp478, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15If these can be called pranks...
- captinherb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16@Clbck:
>>"The video is fake"
I wish, have you ever seen the TV show 'Street Smarts' or Jay Walking on The Tonight Show? These people are all to real. - witcompe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14WTF were the people in the video doing during school? Do they not even care about world events? As a citizen of the US I am saddened by that video. The only hope I have deep in my mind is that a lot of people got the questions correct and they were edited out.
- manmademark, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14I admit I don't know all my geography but mixing up Australia for anything is just... unforgivable.
A mosque is an animal? See, We Americans will make an ass of ourselves without any help from Sacha Baron Cohen.
No wonder Bush is president. - themastersb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11That video is from years ago.
- jexdawg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11You want to sort by most diggs? Try the "Sort by most diggs" option, at the top.
- smithy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10and you just confirmed the video, as this is clearly from Australia not Europe, you can hear it in the way they talk.
- faz9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I must of got my hands on a leaked copy of #1 because I'm pretty sure I seen it before April 1st 2007.
- washcapsfan37, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Yeah, it's a little hard to come up with a list of the best pranks done on April 1st until the day is actually over. It's not the "Top Ten April Fool's Pranks till 2 PM 2007."
- EochaidRiata, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Yeah, the video is from Chaser's. The new season just started last week. I wouldn't call the video fake; it is not CNN, but those are definitely real Americans they are interviewing and not actors. Jay Leno has the same segment on his show every month.

Torrent: http://www.mininova.org/tor/638581 - ruis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9This is a bad question. The first KFC was actually opened in Salt Lake City, Utah. (I only knew because I'm from Utah)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KFC#History - Canumbler, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Ohhh BZZT! Sorry, Australia isn't in Europe.
As well, it's a comedy show, they make fun of EVERYTHING (as aussie comedy usually does), if you take offence you're in serious danger of reinforcing some stereotypes... - iSamurai, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9It's not the video that's #1, it's Human Stupidity, read the title thing.
- purple, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Yeah, they fry the chicken in Kentucky, and fly it to every ***** restaurant.
The guy probably thought it was trick question, at least I hope he did. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8"Where does KFC come from?"
"I don't know"
"Do you know what KFC stands for?"
"Kentucky Fried Chicken." - ShawnPrend, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Atcually, he's right..... The video was made ages ago....
- skyfire1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Good god I had no idea people were that stupid until I saw that video.
- Enasni1212, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8True enough. Look around in that video. See the palm trees? People wearing T-shirts and shorts in April? As much as that video makes me ashamed to be an American, I know the results of those questions would have been much different if they were in a somewhere in the Northeast.
- johnnyDiggs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6ok, so anyone can guess that they filtered out the people that answered correctly...but honestly...are some people really that ignorant that they dont know the answers to those simple questions?
- ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6@ ngmcs8203
Why did you steal Supernova17's Icon? - djAnakin, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10I bet I could go to any country in the world, ask the same questions, get the same ratio of dumbasses to people who know what's going on around them, and edit out those who know, and make the same video... with [non-american english] accents.
- dougbarrett, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@theworm:
So it's fine if Jay Leno does the same thing, but when a person that isn't from America points out the stupidities, then it is deemed a slap in the face?
Oh, and Star Wars was based off of WW2. Well... the premise was at least, I don't know what the hell the latest three movies were based off of. - ErrorS, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8For non-Americans, i swear we really aren't that stupid. As a matter of fact, I've never met anyone *that* stupid in my entire life, ever..
well, I do have an evangelical cousin who needed proof that the US wasn't the largest country in the world. He simply would not accept that China was bigger. He was especially offended when I told him this country hardly had 20% of the people that China had.
Ok, honestly, maybe he would have missed most of those questions. I guess I do know some less-than-intelligent Americans.
But most of us aren't that stupid, I promise. - spudnic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Another mystery, are fieri and fatbyjhnsn joking or did they just provide more perfect examples of America's ignorance of the outside world...
- mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Oh come on you know that a bunch of those are staged. Like the one black gentleman who is saying invade Canada, Brazil, and almost any other country.
- walshie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Posted by 'The worm': "I could go to England and do the same thing. *****. How dare they make our country look worse than it already does."
As you already pointed out, the chaser was an Australian. Secondly, if you think people that stupid think a few imbeciles represent a whole country, then you're even more stupid; yet amazingly, you're getting digged up for that comment!
It was a funny video, period - so chill out. - Animal, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Well of course you can edit a bunch of footage down to show only the funniest and most stupid looking people, it's done all the time for the sake of comedy. But still, some of the things that people don't know, even if they might only be a small percentage is kind of sad. But to be fair this isn't a USA only problem, it's just fun to pick on you Americans because you're just so sensitive.
I like the Rick Mercer "Talking to Americans" series. It's the same idea except the questions are mostly Canada-centric since Rick Mercer is Canadian. But he went to several universities across the USA to show how even 'intelligent' students and professors can be very ignorant of their neighbor to the north.
One of my favorite clips:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8qeO_eaOjw
- Skip to about 1:15 that's my favorite part with the kid. - ymirscorpse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2And at the bottom of the list of 2007 April Fool's Jokes was my most recent ex's choice to text me and falsely tell me she was pregnant. She found it amusing, but having forgotten the date, I failed to see the humor, and spent about five minutes vowing to be celibate for the rest of my life.
- spudnic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Not only that but it isn't an prank or fake
- DeskFlyer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The video made me feel shameful for being American.
- skywake, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6you probably could get those answers anywhere if you filmed long enough
and yes.... there are people out there that are that stupid
but at least now you know how the rest of the world sees the US
;)
and just because its cnnnn doesn't mean that they weren't real people
the truth is always funnier then fiction - Bleeblaow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Sorry, but the Aqua Teen Hunger Force premiere should have been near the top of the list. The two Google "pranks" were so ridiculously obvious that they weren't even funny on a cute level. It appears this is more of a list of "Top 10 April Fools Pranks [on the Internet] 2007".
- spliffy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1after this year on digg, it's played out.
new != fools - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That was good ! Angelina Jolie in ROMANIA !!!!!! http://garantat.net/original.htm
- Fieri, on 10/12/2007, -10/+11The complilation of "American stupidity" reinforced my opinion of Europeans as snobbish elitists who allow themselves to believe generalizations.
I could make a video implying that all British do nothing but watch ants crawl around if I wanted. - benitojuarez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1xfire.coms prank was pretty good, they changed a lot of game names to things like marcel marcels mime time fun, virtual knitter, waldos world. 3d pickup sticks, etc etc there was literally hundreds posts in the forums of idiots complaining their profiles were hacked.
- InternetUser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1gah i just dug you down by accident, sorry :( Meant to give you the thumbs up, I thought that mouse prank was quite funny hehe
- chancefl, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1They should have had Leo's prank in there somewhere, that one almost had me fooled.
http://www.loveawake.com - phoggey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3You're jumping to conclusions. If you look at the video you can see words on Australia, especially when he's talking about "put that on France". The words over Australia say France.
I'm pretty sure if I went around downtown, found some homeless people, and said "Put this flag on France" and it was actually labeled at France, they would be right on the money. If you're busy talking to some dude and think you're on film, you may be too excited to think clearly that this ***** is trying to trick you.
Homeless people, 50-60 year old men, and preteen girls do not give an accurate sample of the US population.
Even the smartest people on earth fall for tricks sometimes, like you asshats have been tricked into believing this was some actual unbiased intelligence test against American civilians. *****, if anyone has some conclusive findings to show that Americans are stupider than the entire rest of the world, based on real world evidence, I'll take it. Otherwise, try this 'test' in France and tell me what it lands.
***** you. America may not be perfect, but neither are you. - runwithmatches, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1dugg just for the video at the end.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Maybe not on parr with some of the others, but I found a funny one on the ebaY community discussion forums.
Looks like maybe one of their Fake Persuaders got hacked or something.
Too funny.
