[/sarcasm] just in case :P - BuddyDoQ, on 10/12/2007, -1/+45I've been following Michael Jackson, for this very opportunity!
- xerus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+33Or babies falling from fire escapes into the subway tracks.

YOU could be next! Just keep an eye out for falling babies... - two2sANDthree3s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11If you ever fall off the Sears Tower, just go real limp, because maybe you'll look like a dummy and people will try to catch you because, hey, free dummy.
~Jack Handy - WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10If a baby falls in the ghetto, and no one's there to catch it...does it make a sound?
(sorry ...I know I'm a sick mofo, sometimes) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9so where's trump's $10,000 for these people??
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6It's a great time to be reckless in NYC. I think I'll try pissing on the third rail or maybe dropping my baby off a bridge.
- megagamer80, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8they should go meet with trump and get some cash!! :P
- hiPpymIck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5the babysitter is being investigated......
- Jack9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Funny how the radio bit I heard of them said 3 stories. Then again, free baby.
//marked inaccurate, due to telephone game - pb3623, on 10/12/2007, -0/+43-year old boy
15 kg average weight (33 lbs)
4 stories at a minimum of 12 ft/story from street level = 48 ft
I haven't had physics in a while but I still remember some formulas like v=a * t
This 33-lb infield fly was falling at 16.87 m/s or 37.74 MPH...
In other words, nice catch, Jeter. - WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I got guy off the tracks once....but I never got paid!
When you are on the tracks, the platform is not very high at all. - ncurses, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"The boy had crawled out of a window when his baby sitter briefly took her eyes off of him, police said."
LOL she is fired - WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If Trump keeps paying, people might start tossing babies down to their friends, waiting below.
Actually, now that you mention it.. (they did say there was no one else around to catch the little tyke.)
- psbpv3o, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3""This is the week of heroes in New York," Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.

Or guys on subway tracks.... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4@wavelength1978
trump gave the subway guy $10k

Anybody? - shortarabguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3No, natural selection still has a few goes at him. After falling four stories and not dying, Darwinism can still get him sticking a fork in the toaster, drying his hair while in the bath, and getting into a random stranger's car. He's three years old... something tells me that if he's not vaguely aware that falling hurts, maybe he'll find himself involved in some more "shenanigans" in the near future.
Kudos to the two guys for doing something that others might not have been so willing to do. - WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3If the falling dog is a chihuahua, it's best to use a catcher's mitt.
If it's a pit bull...just stand there and he'll get a nice firm bite on you. - WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2she probably took too big a hit that time...
- Blandyman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My lord, he pinned him to the tracks until the train finished passing over?
Did the man having the seizure get saved by none other than Detective McClane? - wavelength1978, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Cool, proof that New Yorkers DO listen and respond to the screams, at least two of em.
- gharding, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's really not hard to run into nice New Yorkers that'll help out. Just because we refuse to make eye contact with anyone on the subway doesn't mean we're mean!
- broomfighter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2the guy who was on the tracks was havin a seisure, so the guy pinned him to the ground while the subway went above them
- TheTaoOfBill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They didn't really risk their lives though. So I don't know if they did do anything anyone else wouldn't have done. But they did save the kid. So they got my respect. I would have tried but I don't think I would have actually caught him...butterfingers...
- Radan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2And the forecast for today is rain, some slight wind from the east and a chance of falling toddlers.
- dougmc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Bouncing Babies, anyone?
http://www.dosgamesarchive.com/download/game/100
Warning: the game was made for a 4.77 MHz IBM PC. It was unplayable on a 12 MHz 286, and I'm guessing that while it would work on a 2+ GHz system running XP, it would be over in a blink or two. You might need to use one of those TSRs to slow things down ... - Recluse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I got nuthin. I was going to post a bunch of different things but I realized I'd probably be chased off the site for being "mean".
- D3koy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hooray for catching falling babies!
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah....33 lbs, in freefall for 48 feet... using the acceleration of gravity (32ft/sec/sec)....
or whatever...
What I want to know is what was the 'apparent mass' (momentum, massXvelocity) at the moment the guy first made contact? It would have seemed like more than 33lbs....but how much? (My forte was always math and chemistry, not physics.)
freefall for 48 feet with acceleration of gravity yields a certain 'terminal velocity'....multiply that by the mass...???
whatever - CoolJammer00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1heroes in new york?
oh *****, it's happening! the explosion! - jimmarch1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you ever have to do this solo: raise your hands as high as they'll go and decelerate the kid over the full distance from overhead to floor. Done right, he stops an inch off the ground.
In other words, if you're 6ft tall you can probably reach about 7.5ft or so. Your initial contact with the kid should be up there, and as you're dropping your hands you start slowing the kid at around shoulder height once you've "got hookup". If you can, cup the neck with one hand, get the other near his hips. But if you have to, "grab whatever" - a dislocated shoulder or similar will heal.
I had to do this with a dog once :). No injuries to either of us.
If you try the "cupping the arms" thing he'll bounce out. These guys got real lucky. But then again, anything you can do to slow the kid will help. - Satanael, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3So much for natural selection...
Crawling out of 4th story window = Fail. - sladek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Kudos to the 2 men, the dumbasses (the mother and babysitter) who didn't realise that the kid could get out hte window are retarded
- greatromance, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For real.
- Recluse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1FAILED!
- Managore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes because all babies should be studying calculus and Shakespeare instead of walking around aimlessly like, for example, babies do.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ITS RAINING KIDS! HAJERULLAH!
- mydave, on 07/31/2008, -0/+0oh ***** page not can be found. what to do?
http://search.ashtech.info/Toddler%20Falls%20Four% ... - Aquashark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1pissing on a third rail isn't dangerous.. it was a busted @ myth busters :P
- broomfighter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0stupid! lol
of course its real - broomfighter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0f=ma so 14.9685482kgs(32ft/s/s)=478.993542n
478.993542/9.81(gravity acceleration)=48.8270685kgs or 107.64526lbs. damn, no wonder he fell over - wavelength1978, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4what's this in reference to?
- muted0, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2meh.. fake
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -16/+5Brat avoids going splat!
