- publicmsu, on 07/10/2009, -0/+28How is this crap diggworthy?
- jboitnott, on 07/10/2009, -0/+18The 405. Oh Gawd help me. The 405.

A guy is driving along the freeway in Los Angeles, and as he reaches downtown, he finds himself in the middle of a massive traffic jam that is blocking up five different freeways and sending lines of cars back for miles in all directions.
After a while, he notices a guy walking from car to car down the freeway, stopping and talking to people through their car windows. When the guy reaches him he rolls down his window and says, “Hey! What’s causing all this delay?”
The guy on the freeways says, “Well, you’re not going to believe this, but OJ Simpson has sat down in the middle of the freeway intersection up there, and he’s totally distraught, and he says there’s no way he can ever pay the $35 million he owes the Goldmans and the Browns, and so he’s threatened to douse himself in gasoline and light himself on fire if people don’t give enough money sufficient to cover the cost of the judgment. So I’ve taken up a collection to try to end the traffic jam.”
“How much have you gotten so far.”
“About ten gallons.” - pingpants, on 07/10/2009, -0/+11This is why I cancel drinks on the Westsiiiiide!
- Cine, on 07/10/2009, -0/+7...how is this frontpage material?
BREAKING NEWS: TRAFFIC IN LA. - ladyemma, on 07/10/2009, -0/+7I bet LA smells funny too

dugg for Frankenstein reference - asskicker32, on 07/10/2009, -0/+5SimCopter1 reporting heavy traffic
- brownsound00, on 07/10/2009, -2/+7Here in this hopeless ***** hole we call LA
The only way to fix it is to flush it all away.
Any ***** time. Any ***** day.
Learn to swim, I'll see you down in Arizona bay.
/aenima - ghatid, on 07/10/2009, -0/+5Thank god I just moved back to the Bay Area. Now I don't have to schedule my day around traffic if I want to go to Target.
- ghatid, on 07/10/2009, -0/+4In my experience, Sigalert is much more accurate.
- itsthemechanic, on 07/10/2009, -0/+4Every man dies.. not every man really lives.
- boozedrinker, on 07/10/2009, -0/+4OMFG!!! THERE IS A LOT OF TRAFFIC IN LA!? NO WAY!
- DeskFlyer, on 07/10/2009, -0/+4Real time:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q& ... - speedbrown, on 07/10/2009, -0/+4I takes me 1.5 hours to get about 20 miles on the 405.... and 2hrs + to get home most days
- sh1tman, on 07/10/2009, -1/+5It's not smog....it's smug.
- inactive, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3Imagine if all those lines were trains or at least has trains running through them in the middle.
Rip out 2 lanes, one each direction and presto..urban rail network. Now that GM has no credibility, the politicians might just listen. - HIFIsamurai, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3You havnt seen the Holywood space hookers in LA ;)
- inactive, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3Buried for feeling the need to tell people "Hey I watch TV! I get jokes!"
- Bkaufman, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3So why does everyone want to live in the LA metro area again? Between the smog, homeless people and the ridiculous lack of public transit, I can't understand the obsession...(note: I have never been to the west coast, so feel free to educate me...)
- djdalai, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3For God's sake, when will Villaragosa and Schwarzenegger lean into public transportation rather than hiding behind the "LA is too big for PT". I mean, the few bits of PT that LA has they don't even police. You can walk onto the metro in downtown LA without paying your fare--just try not to sit in anyone's urine.
Would it be the end of the world to START a few lines between places like Santa Monica/Culver City/Downtown that quickly and efficiently move people around with a network of buses to support the community? Don't even get me started on the purple line crap... At the very least, invest in the current system to build convenience? - tekhna, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3Ride your bike. You would make it quicker.
- TheBodyPolitic, on 07/10/2009, -1/+4I would rather be dead in California than alive in Arizona.
- tonytroz, on 07/10/2009, -0/+34. Eventually die on a motorcycle from splitting lanes.
- inactive, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3hey-ooooooooooooo
- Kazbaeden, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2For those of us that don't live in Los Angeles.... um, we don't give a damn?
- alexacastrato, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2God damnit Los Angeles. I never ever ever wanted to live here. GOD DAMNIT VIDEO GAME COMPANIES AND YOUR OPPORTUNITIES.
- soil, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2If I worked in the marketing division of audible, I'd be papering those highways with ads..
"Got some time? Challenge Mondego to a duel on the 405. Walk the decks of the Calypso on the 110. Brush up on Quidditch with Harry on the 605"
Easy target! - S2ThaNizzle, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2No way, where in San Diego? I rarely see any sort of traffic in San Diego, even during rush-hour. The only delays I ever get are the traffic signals at the on-ramps, and that's far from LA-bad.
- rhinofinger, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2California Love.
- DRT23, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2Errmm....that's what it looks like everyday sadly.
Commuting up there sucks major balls. Only time there isn't traffic is from 10pm-4am.
Double-decker freeways please. - inactive, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2Traffic jam in Inglewood. Inglewood always up to no good. Even Hollywood tryin to get a piece of this, baby.
- emoseman, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2Why would you keep doing that commute?
- gorgalor, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2And die when a car blindly changes lanes in front of you, and you're run by the ***** in the fast lane that was previously tailgating the guy that changed lanes. Which will then result in a fatality investigation which will make traffic worse for everyone after all...
I have seen countless motorcylists maimed, killed, and severely injured during rush hour traffic in this city. Do not ride in LA. - dukenuk3m, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2I live in San Diego, and it's nowhere near as bad as LA
- asskicker32, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2Seriously, though. I think we should remove some freeways and invest more in rail, light rail and buses. In some cases, removing roads can ironically have a positive effect on traffic.
- EskNerd, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2Wow, and I thought my commute was bad. I usually try to skip the 405 by taking Sepulveda. Two days ago (when this image was created), it took me nearly four hours to get home thanks to the fires and power outages. One of these days I'm gonna snap like D-FENS in Falling Down. ;)
- trer, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2Easy solution here: transporters.
- dmm219, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1why people choose to live, willingly, in that god awful place is beyond me...
- Raptor007, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1There are some beautiful places on the west coast, but they're all up in Washington and Oregon.
- DRT23, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1What do you propose to fix this traffic problem as the population grows in the future?
Expanding won't work, we're out of space. =/
I,Robot automated driving? - Contivity, on 07/11/2009, -0/+1Well, if you live in your parents' basement playing WOW all day you won't see any traffic :)
- asskicker32, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1I think we should start iRobot killing people
- yugosakimi, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1Red on one side, green on the other side ... wreck.
- vbullinger, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1Agreed. Less than 10mph on your way home? Freakin' jog, man!
- asskicker32, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1double deckers in earthquake country? Remember when the 118 collapsed? or huge sections of the 880 came down in Oakland?
- Contivity, on 07/11/2009, -0/+1How much buffer would the transporter need for LA's population?
2010 Digg Front Page: Transporter Jam in LA causes millions stuck in buffer for hours - Contivity, on 07/11/2009, -0/+1still better than living in the midwest blackhole...
