- ahawks, on 10/11/2007, -0/+41The terrorists haven't won.
our own Fascists, here in America, have won. - tidu, on 10/11/2007, -2/+42Link to overhead map and 3D view of this structure, easily accessible from their website.

Better not take a picture of those bricks or that opaque glass, though. - manicleek, on 10/11/2007, -4/+30WOW! the point really sailed way above your head didn't it.
Retard - LooGie, on 10/11/2007, -3/+28Canada. America done right! ***** it, I'm out of here.
- ahawks, on 10/11/2007, -4/+27If you were to ask me, or anyone, to name a few countries where they could expect to be assaulted or detained for photographing public buildings, the answers would likely contain:
- Nazi Germany
- North Korea
- Communist China
Sadly, the ***** U.S. of A. Goes on that list now as well. - manicleek, on 10/11/2007, -0/+16No, I'm saying the point sailed way over your head
- knobtwiddler, on 10/11/2007, -4/+20you're pic is aiding al quaeda.
why do you hate freedom? - notmark, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15So, this was posted in November of 2005, and has just hit the front page. Must be because the photographer was just released from Guantanamo...
- TridenTBoy, on 10/11/2007, -4/+17The terrorists haven't won.
/sarcasm - CatalystGhost, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13Oh my god... that's even worse than "rediculous"... my god, no, that's just horrible...
- Phyltre, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13I am shocked by this post. Shocked and titillated.
- pyry, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12Do you ever plan on taking a photo of something around your own city? Enjoy it while it lasts.
- ecorona, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14The people curtailing our freedoms think they are soooo clever. They think that after 911 we're going to hand our freedoms to them in a hand-basket with a bow on it.
They really underestimate us. I don't care how many times they flash the words "Terror" or "Attack" on the screen of my TV set. We have a natural thirst to NOT BE CONTROLLED. - bowens44, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13What we really need is a category for people who have no problem with the government doing what Al Qaeda could never do, take away our freedom.
- Noods, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12I went to New York on vacation a couple years ago via bus. While sitting in the terminal waiting for the bus home, I held up my camera to take a picture of my girlfriend. On of the terminal attendants rushed over to make it clear that I couldn't take pictures in the terminal. To the idiots in charge: nice work! We are giving the terrorists exactly what they want.
- knomevol, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9not to mention the God given right. and if you are atheist, then consider it the birthright of consciousness. life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
- oakapple, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8The sad thing? The people curtailing are freedoms aren't clever, and they know they don't have to be. We DID hand our freedoms to them in a hand-basket with a bow on it, and we put in some homemade chocolate chip cookies in the very same basket as a thank you for taking them away! We haven't so much had our freedoms curtailed, as our apathetic country has given them away....You resist, yes, but most don't. And the resisters? Well, the people in charge paint a broad stroke of "unpatriotic" down their spines and walk away, with absolute impunity.
Sigh...the experiment in democracy just may have failed. - chrisbarr, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8I was recently at the Atlanta airport all day (bad delays and cancellations...don't ask) and I was taking pictures of airplanes taking off, but I was asked to stop. Clearly this is very dangerous, and I stopped just to save lives.
- Unrefined, on 10/11/2007, -6/+13Dude, not cool. You just endangered thousands of peoples lives with that link. Their blood is on your hands! Hands in the blood! Flesh of a fallen angel and ***** man! And we're going to dance around the flames whilst jacking it and Merry ***** Poppins will float down and we'll have an orgy with her while this building is being attacked by menacing men merrily prancing about. This future that you've created is surely the work of that Satan creature from that one episode of Doctor Who, I think it was called "The Pit". I can't be bothered to look on IMDB right now, cause I've got to tell you to tear down that link and ***** Ivy from Soul Caliber, cause she is uber hot.
- grooviekenn, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9***** photo? I think it's beautiful and that it's a shame that fear and paranoia keeps it from being shared.
- smackywentz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6... they sink ships? I half expect you to digg me up Mr. *****
- smackywentz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Correction: Getting permission should not be required. Buried for ignorance and apathy.
- ahawks, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Sure, you and I and everyone here are all up in arms. But what have we done about it? Nothing. Have you called your senator? I haven't. Feeling like a rebel does nothing. I'm chewing myself out just as much as you here. The fact is, we're a couple of losers sitting on the internet bitching while the rest of the country paves over the freedoms we used to enjoy.
- manicleek, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6No it's definitely you thats missing the point, a view reinforced by a TWO dumb comments in 20 minutes.
Sit back, calm down, and think it over - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6not allowing photography is the worst security idea ever. if you allow photography, it is fairly easy to watch with security cameras who is taking photos where and of what. you then easily catch anyone taking photos of suspicious areas. if you don't allow photography, the tourists will give in, innocent photographers will put up a legal fight, and the terrorists will resort to microcameras embedded in ties and people with photographic memories, and guess what, you'll never catch the terrorists.
- knomevol, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6"yea" is what a cheerleader says. "yeah" is slang for "yes". unless you were cheering for high taxes....
- MotleyTool, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7I'm tired of apathetic people who take no responsibility for obvious issues with their own country. I don't understand why you can't see that this panic management of our country is detrimental. At what point will you care? Is there any circumstance under which you would say 'enough'? If you genuinely do believe that photographing public buildings is a valid security concern that's one thing (a stupid thing, but at least it's a point of view), but to relegate these kinds of acts as meaningless makes you a parasite. If you're not willing to be a part of how well this country is run (regardless of your political affiliations) you should get the ***** out. There are millions of patriots who do care about how this country is run, and you're obviously at the bottom of the pile.
That's why you'll be pumping my gas for the rest of your life. It's thoroughly depressing that ignorant bastards such as yourself have a vote. You're just a lamb to the slaughter. - lokoluis15, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Like we don't pay high taxes? 30% tax on income right off the bat, plus 7% taxes on sales, property taxes, even taxes on the interest on money in the bank not even being used. By the time it's all over, I only have half of the money I make for myself. I don't know that taxes could be much worse.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5They won the day the electoral college handed them the presidency against the will of the voters.
- ahawks, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5If you don't see the value in having the right for a hobbyist or tourist to take a picture of a public building -paid for with their tax dollars- ... I just don't know how to even finish that sentence.
- pyry, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5It's not just what you see, but it's what it represents. Did you even attempt to read the title above the photo, or the writing below it?
- sabach, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Ridicules, is that Portuguese?
- smackywentz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I believe his comment was in jest. Also, most of us are aware that terrorism is an ideology and not an actual ***** thing.
- Morphinity, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Unfortunately, calling my senators, who are Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer by the way, will do nothing because I will:
A) Get to a secretary, who will write a note, and not give it to Clinton/Schumer or will give it to them, but they won't read it.
B) If in the slight, strange chance I actually do talk to Clinton/Schumer, I will get a response like, "Hmmm, yes, your point is duly noted and it will be brought up in the next Congress."
The system doesn't work. People don't have the access to the government that they should. - craftycorner, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3NAFTA will eliminate the Canada - Mexico option. Those two nations will be merged with USA into one happy fascist union... :'(
- EntangledPhysx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2OK, who wants to play V? hehe
- bIuebonics, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2which world war was that again? :P
- ahawks, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2He says in the comments that someone randomly posted it to reddit, and it exploded from there. Sad that nothing came of it and he just let it go for so long.
- crapmatic, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3The best thing to do is IGNORE THESE IDIOTS and KEEP TAKING PICTURES. Nobody can touch you or take your camera except a police officer, and hopefully you'll be gone by then. These do-gooders happily give up their freedoms. You value liberty. Who should win this argument? Right. Tell them to ***** off. Don't be a coward. Stand your ground.
- bsiviglia9, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Are they more concerned with censoring the common citizen's point of view under the subtext of "security"?
- Koldkompress, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2What is with this crap about photographic memories that's been posted a few times? They're terrorists, not the goddamn X-men
- craftycorner, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Dugg you up! Comment system is RETARDED.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2the police officers are equally bad, speaking from having read a lot of true stories. then, if you keep refusing to the police officer, or even -- omg -- ask them for ID -- they TASER you and you're crying in pain, on the floor, and can't do anything. even the strongest of people will be on the floor in seconds under that.
yes, the USA also employs torture, as well. - MateyO, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Maybe. But we had to do it. [sob] For the _children_!!!1!
- paulocon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Just one of several similar reports... We have set a section up on photographyvoter.com for the Legal issues of photography, you can view it at:
http://www.photographyvoter.com/index.php?category=LegalIssues - mace2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1...that's not the point.
- nycjap, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1That absurd "regulation" and the increasing number of these kinds of petty censorship incidents are one and the same thing. These people are trying to circumscribe your First Amendment rights for no good purpose, under some phony guise of "security" or "privacy", when in reality, neither is compromised in most instances. Standing up for one's rights is hardly "whining".
- MindTrigger, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You guys know that are trying to ban video cams in public places in New York right now? Banning through making it a giant pain in the ass to legally do so. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/06/29/nyregion/29camera.html?ei=5090&en=71135caff6fefe6a&ex=1340769600&adxnnl=1&partner=rssuserland&emc=rss&pagewanted=print&adxnnlx=1183219217-VvrMKZ1S63XZD5yNyzYrzA
- nycjap, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Why? Do they need to get to Edgewater for their next meeting?
