things fall into 2 groups often.
1)something is invented to make something possible.
2)something invented to make more efficient existing possibility.
i believe this crane/digger "dirty hack" makes it possible to have a mobile crane and digger anywhere on the train. i guess before, they could have a crane on a flatbed train section, but that would only be able to operate on the 2 adjacent carriages. it was a fixed crane.
this new method is vastly superior not so much in it's execution, but it's features as you can move it anywhere on the train and even OFF the train too (as it drives away to be used as a normal diggger).- 1Bad, on 04/14/2008, -0/+3What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. - howardcross, on 04/13/2008, -0/+3He extends out the bucket and rolls himself off it, brilliant! Almost like JCB parkour
- btattersall, on 04/14/2008, -0/+1Yeah, there needs to be a 4.5 shot with the bucket extended to push it the rest of the way
- synyster, on 04/13/2008, -0/+1i was wondering the same question as well, i think he accelerate it very quickly to achieve it
- jamesdew, on 04/14/2008, -0/+0correct me if I'm wrong but I think diggers have rear wheel drive only
- AnotherBrian, on 04/14/2008, -0/+1They are rear wheel drive, this one has a winch mounted to help it up and quickly slide it back and fourth across the cars.
- jamesdew, on 04/14/2008, -0/+0correct me if I'm wrong but I think diggers have rear wheel drive only
- rootneg2, on 04/14/2008, -0/+11. extend shovel
2. lower shovel
....
4. on top of railcar!- MonkCanatella, on 04/14/2008, -0/+15: Profit.
- dorkino, on 04/14/2008, -2/+2The railcar slides underneath him. The train moves towards him once he is at the proper height.
- jamesdew, on 04/14/2008, -1/+0no it doesn't you can see in the picture from the position of the sign that the train doesn't move
- dorkino, on 04/14/2008, -0/+1I noticed that, too, but if you watch the video that a few people have posted in this article thread, you'll see that the train does move back to meet the dozer. Perhaps that's just one way it can get up there.
- jamesdew, on 04/14/2008, -1/+0no it doesn't you can see in the picture from the position of the sign that the train doesn't move
- str1fe, on 04/14/2008, -0/+5He does a barrel roll
- tk0680, on 04/14/2008, -0/+1Yep that's exactly what makes me wonder about this too. There's too much movement between steps when the wheels (correct me if I'm wrong: the only method of horizontal movement he has available) aren't touching anything.
- howardcross, on 04/13/2008, -0/+3He extends out the bucket and rolls himself off it, brilliant! Almost like JCB parkour

- rootneg2, on 04/14/2008, -0/+3I don't understand what a hardcore video of a hoe getting off to lay some pipe has to do with pornography.
you have a sick mind, pervert...

- PS3Camaro, on 04/13/2008, -3/+9as a former foreman for a Contractor... it honestly isn't THAT impressive, cool... yes, and even cooler that someone took pictures, but it's pretty much the same concept that we would use everyday to put on a semi trailer.. obviously not nearly as high though, ha ha... props to the guy though, ha ha
- FortyCaliber, on 04/14/2008, -0/+2yes, ha ha indeed.
Really though, there should be some sort of Back hoe show for tricks... like they do with hyrdo'd cars.- AnotherBrian, on 04/14/2008, -0/+1http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYzAJviXr0Y

- str1fe, on 04/14/2008, -0/+2Agreed, it only takes an extra ten seconds to find a rickroll link that the entire internet hasn't memorized already.
Although, I did just talk to someone, who I used to consider a learned internetter, who didn't recognize uuiU.

- HappyScrappy, on 04/14/2008, -3/+1I love how they have a brand name for just being nucking futs enough to inch a Cat backhoe along the top of a train.
- eviljolly, on 04/14/2008, -0/+1I've seen them on top of the train cars before and always wondered how they got up there.

- theholyraptor, on 04/13/2008, -7/+3but how did he get to the first picture position? (unless u factor in the cable)
- morrislevy, on 04/13/2008, -3/+1It went OPPOSITE of the order of the pictures is the only explaination!
- HappyScrappy, on 04/14/2008, -0/+1Additionally, what happened after the last frame. I can't see how it got slid over, short of the train backing underneath it.
- Falsey, on 04/14/2008, -1/+1Look at the front of the thing. There is clearly a cable assisting.
- CanceledCzech, on 04/14/2008, -0/+1That front shovel-thing can move into higher positions on the back-hoe than the one it is in in the pics. Jesus Christ, didn't any of you play with trucks as kids?
- masterm1nd, on 04/13/2008, -12/+1I'm guessing the reason this is in picture form is because they don't want to show you how they got to frame 1... half fake.
- pigducksheep, on 04/14/2008, -2/+1killjoy...
- masterm1nd, on 04/14/2008, -2/+1Not for the people who don't like being fooled.
