- krabat, on 10/10/2007, -5/+149I think this guy's criminal activity is just him acting out his aggression over getting the lamest tattoo ever.
- wmarkusen, on 11/06/2007, -1/+112Dad?
- revarien, on 10/10/2007, -0/+98Here is a direct link to the guy's (the actual owner of the stolen computer) blog, complete with backstory:

- NullzipZero, on 10/10/2007, -4/+58This guy is a few beers short of a six-pack.

"I'm strangely fascinated by the expression on the thief's face. I think it's art.
The look on his face suggests a combination of wonder and sadness. The thief marvels at his newest acquisition but knows he cannot fully take advantage of its technology since he does not fully understand it, and in an ironic twist, he is unaware of his growing fame and the fate his own ineptitude will bring him. The twinge of sadness we see is his subconcious acknowledgment of the fact his failure to understand the technology he has stolen will itself lead to his arrest.
The antiquated tattoos of Death on his back suggest a fascination with the inevitable future coupled with his own inability to control, see, or comprehend the future events that will define him. To the thief, Death is an image he cannot see without a mirror, much like the images he has uploaded to his account, unaware that in so doing he has contributed to his own inevitable downfall, a fate everyone but he can see."
pretty deep.. - blaaguuu, on 11/06/2007, -4/+54Glad to hear one person knew the proper place to 'install' WoW.
- mandarin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+48Reminds me of that story where the thief of a macbook has his picture taken from the macbook's camera while he was installing world of warcraft in the toilet...
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+33Dumbass.
- po43292, on 10/10/2007, -0/+28He's probably the one that took the 100,000 beers too.
- kiwiboyus, on 10/10/2007, -4/+31I would think Flicker would have recorded the IP that the picture was uploaded from, get that do a look up and find the ISP then get the cops to contact the ISP and request the users address. Bingo!
- cbrunet, on 10/10/2007, -8/+35Not that I don't want this guy to get away with anything, but isn't exactly what we DON'T want ISP's to be doing? I understand he is (possibly) a criminal (he could have easily purchased a used MacBook without the knowledge that it was stolen), but do we really want ISP's giving out personal information? Isn't that exactly what people all over the States get pissed off at Comcast and other ***** ISP's doing for RIAA and MPAA? The guy is Canadian, and therefore has a Canadian ISP. So far, they are not aloud to give out that type of personal information, and I'm pretty glad they don't.
- andrewkumar, on 10/10/2007, -5/+30has he been found yet? he's already outted himself...
- protocolor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+23BY THE POWER OF GRAYSKULL!!!
- FDL1, on 10/10/2007, -16/+38Meh, most of these Flickr stories turn out to be fake. Bury me for skepticism/want for actual journalism.
- blackwallet, on 10/10/2007, -1/+20that guy's life must be really sad if he has to resort to stealing laptops at that age. you would think he'd realize all the ***** ups he has had just by looking at his "knarly" tattoos.
- tomtucker378, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19"Is logicalnoise being offensive?"
No, just an idiot. - TitanX13, on 10/10/2007, -3/+19this made me clamp my hand over my mouth so i didnt burst out laughing in class
- thcobbs, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17This guy is actually a few beers short of a CAN.
- Zbrah, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17Hahaha,so good. He looks so into himself too...what an idiot.
- Butros, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18But uh if he fenced the laptop... then he wouldn't have it to post the picture after he used the money from it to pay for the tattoo?
- HouseofEl, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16That's freakin outstanding. What a *****.
- ashwinmudigonda, on 10/10/2007, -9/+24What is the basis of the claim?? If he is a thief, has he been arrested?
- zadadka, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16"No, Sir, I'm afraid we cannot use your provided mugshots......."
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -6/+21I'd rather see pics of this guy and his tattoos than the pics of all the dweebs posted by the original owner.
- SlipstreamLucas, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15It's TAZER TIME :)
- Kuraden, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15This is almost OJ stupid.
- Turr, on 10/10/2007, -4/+16lets be thankful he didn't take pictures of anything else and upload them
- Mercifool, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14Ahh, the pinnacle of dumbassery.
- iHeartMoz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Looks like the dad from the Wonder Years.
- WilliamDavis, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Yep, maybe he bought the laptop from someone. Pretty suspicious to not notice all of the personal things on it, though.
- davdev, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9I think what Curt meant was that the guy was probably using someone else's wireless connection to get to the internet, therefore tracking the IP would do no good. It is obvious he was using the stolen PC
- po43292, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Is that Alien on his left arm?
- fudgebrown, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8How do we know that's him though - the thief could have sold the computer to this guy - but perhaps the video footage captured back it up?
- curt082480, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10....because he couldn't possibly be stealing a wireless connection too!
- TrevorBelmont, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8If you aren't absolutely positive that you know exactly what a Darwin Award is, then please don't ever refer to it in a comment. If you DO know exactly what it is, please use it sparingly, if at all.
- RealmDown, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8He's going to die of tattoo poisoning ?
- Minkii, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Wow..that's very well written.
- pbgswd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7this story is already making its way around the Downtown developers in Vancouver, and it is only a calculated matter of time before the perp gets nabbed.
- burnswhenipee, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Yeah, that would just lead the police to his neighbor or something. Where would they go from there?
I mean they have photos of the guy and know his location to within 100 feet. The owner may as well cut his losses, there's nothing more that can be done! - CoreBurn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6In the comments of the photo it says Flickr has already called and gave him the IP.
- marco0009, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Downloading songs/movies from the RIAA is not a criminal offense, its a civil offense as defined by copyright law (unless they can prove you've exceeded some insane monetary limit in damages. Forgive me I can't recall it off the top of my head but I believe it is somewhere in the range of $50k).
Here we have a case where a man stole actual property, not just intellectual property. I have no problem with an ISP turning over identification to the authorities for pursuing a criminal case.
If the RIAA or any of the other corporations want to follow the law and actually issue subpoenas for the information instead of attempting to bypass the legal system I would have no problem. Its the fact that they're trying to ignore the laws governing the matter that really ticks me off. - Sil369, on 10/29/2007, -0/+6Digging in class, classic
- jaewon223, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7the guy looks like a total prick. hope there's followup to this story. digg this up, maybe someone will recognize him
- Myonosken, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6eh types oigod you rtared.
- darnit, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Sometimes a Cigar is just a Cigar
- BryanJK, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Good its time to install a personal tracking device on your leg and daily strip searches. You have nothing to hide right?
- PARAPA, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Please learn to type and then feel free to come back :D
- TimmyGUNZ, on 10/10/2007, -7/+11There's a difference between the RIAA asking for people's information from an ISP and law enforcement. The cops aren't asking ISPs for personal information for illegal downloads (unless it's child porn). Anyone that has a problem with this shouldn't be doing bad ***** on the internet in the first place.
