- openthink, on 11/08/2007, -5/+383definitely not something i'd want on my kids' book shelves. and uncle pete needs a little more than help & forgiveness...like jail, for a long time.
- 1337jared, on 11/02/2007, -11/+321But at the same time, touching...
- slimkevi, on 11/12/2007, -7/+245That's pretty messed up...
- BLyn, on 10/31/2007, -6/+191Uh... correct me if i'm wrong but the moral i got from that story is: you can touch little boys for several months and all that will happen is someone will 'tell you that it hurt'.
What happened to arresting Uncle Pete!? - Layne, on 10/10/2007, -1/+162Uncle Pete looks like Conan O'Brian
- PixelVision, on 10/10/2007, -25/+185I had an uncle pete... When I was 9 it happened, my "uncle pete" made me do things that I can never forget. And yes my life echos this story in many way. I thought I was gay and the kids at school called me names. I got the help I needed though, and I went a few steps further so Uncle Pete could get what he deserved! I got a lawyer and after a few months of preparation we went to court. The judge was very understanding of the situation and after a few days we got the result I wanted. It's truely a happy ending for all concerned. It's now 10 years on and Uncle Pete and I are still happily married. We've adopted 2 children, both of which we're teaching to be gay pedophiles too. When we get the chance, we go on bikerides whilst not wearing clothing on the bottom half of our bodies, and then stop at the local playground to take photos while uncle pete spreads his asscheeks at people passing by. These truly are wonderful days.
- suxmonkey, on 10/10/2007, -26/+171I can't figure out of this is real religious progaganda of some kind of just a joke, either way it's entirely too creepy.
- BBX25, on 10/10/2007, -0/+121This book is called "Alfie's Home" and was written by Richard A. Cohen.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Cohen_(lecturer) - UncleCrapper, on 10/10/2007, -4/+119Thanks, Uncle Pete.
- unclemeat, on 10/10/2007, -4/+108I had an uncle pete... When I was 9 it happened, my "uncle pete" made me do things that I can never forget. And yes my life echos this story in many way. I thought I was gay and the kids at school called me names. I got in one little fight and my mom got scared. She said, 'you're moving with your aunty and uncle in Bel-Air.
- lkmbrd, on 10/10/2007, -7/+96From the comments: "I wish I had an uncle Pete"
HA! - TheAkolyte, on 10/31/2007, -1/+86He felt really bad about it so it's okay.
- slikk115, on 10/10/2007, -12/+96Yes, this book WAS touching...
..then again.. so was Uncle Pete. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -8/+80I hope this book touches many people the way uncle Pete touched that boys genitals.
- luckyfisherman, on 10/10/2007, -5/+74Where's the girls version?
- kaelyiesta, on 10/10/2007, -10/+78The argument "you aren't gay, just [insert mental illness or injury here]" is used ad nauseum by the less tolerant christian groups. Many wish to cure what drives people to homosexuality. It's a bit of a stretch, but it was still the first thing I was reminded of while reading this, other than how stupid the dad was for wearing a tie all the time, even at home.
- bizkit00, on 10/10/2007, -2/+69oh my god. not only is this book not satire, but its the author's own story.
- iamsamsamiam, on 10/10/2007, -17/+79This is obviously trying to explain the homosexuality isn't something you're born with. because they try to portray that homosexuality stems from a poor family situation with sexual harassment from 'uncle peter' (catholic minister) as the cherry on top or tipping point if you will.
it has a few messages that are controversial but it's still a right wing ploy to say how homosexuality is really a choice, because after remedying the sexual abuse and family quarrels some how this confused little child is some how cured of the gay. which is a crock of *****
just because those things are solved doesn't solve the confusion of your sexuality. - mattgilberg, on 10/10/2007, -3/+63So will Chris Hansen be having book signings?
- nepawoods, on 10/10/2007, -3/+61touché
- oneoverzero, on 10/10/2007, -6/+58At least it's not a book claiming that all homosexuality is wrong...
- Maddjonesy, on 10/10/2007, -5/+53Heh, I know I shouldn't, but dugg for humour...
- ajchavar, on 10/10/2007, -8/+55i dont think its even saying homosexuality is wrong, this type of abuse can lead people to be confused about their sexuality. it doesnt say that he needs to be "fixed" it just says that hes not gay, granted, this book is being really broad and probably isnt meant to cover all cases, but this seems like the type of book a young child might be given to help cope with something before they can understand it fully.
- unicronband, on 10/10/2007, -2/+49Uncle Pete?
- chillmandan, on 10/10/2007, -6/+50Great or greatest children's book ever?
- miriclaire, on 10/10/2007, -2/+43Why didn't Uncle Pete go to jail? That must be in the sequel.
- sethisastud, on 11/12/2007, -6/+43Source? I wasn't molested as a child, but I'm queer as a $3 bill now.
- dinorama1234, on 10/10/2007, -7/+44*phew! For a second there I thought he was really going to be gay. THAT would have been a tragedy! Neglect and sexual abuse can be apologized away...but gay is forever. I'm sure we're all quite relieved that the boy's confusion was discovered. I'm gonna be sure to have a talk with those friends of mine who are also "confused".
- nepawoods, on 10/10/2007, -22/+56Maybe I missed something, but I didn't see anything religious in it.
- ArthurSucks, on 10/10/2007, -4/+38I see what you did there.
- Virak, on 10/10/2007, -7/+40Best comment I've seen all day. Too bad Digg has no sense of humor.
- chubbybubba, on 10/10/2007, -5/+38This is like the Michael Jackson story but without the happy ending.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+36"Dad touched Uncle Pete with a meat cleaver....down there"
- MaxPayne3476, on 11/12/2007, -2/+32omg, haha i thought "wow someones really confessing there deep sad story to Digg", then I got to about the fifth sentence! Good laugh :)
- rootstyle, on 10/10/2007, -7/+36Actually it sorta is, the author is a quack shrink who was on CNN, *****!, etc He teaches a message along the lines of homosexuals-are-made-not-born, i.e. from being molested. I think its an autobiography (not meant to be funny, hes a real basket case)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Cohen_(lecturer) - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+30who do I need to blow around here to get a working link?
- JCSaint, on 10/10/2007, -2/+29"and then stop at the local playground to take photos while uncle pete spreads his asscheeks at people passing by"
I think your Uncle is famous on the internet. - oojamaflip2006, on 10/10/2007, -2/+29His full name, of course, is Peter File. I'm beginning to regret being called Peter now...
- TheMidnight, on 10/10/2007, -2/+29That's not the story touching you.
- zzz@tkz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+25Holy *****. I thought it was a fake.
- hulez, on 10/10/2007, -0/+22Well u don't have a heart for forgiveness. Uncle Pete just needed his dads love too
- salsaflies, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23That's fine and all, but I have a feeling he was being sarcastic.
- NatieB, on 10/10/2007, -1/+22I was expecting a Bel-Air on the parent post, but I dugg yours up even though it was poorly executed.
- zomgflamer, on 10/10/2007, -7/+26In the words of Adam Carrolla;
"Perfectly normal, perfectly healthy." - directedition, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20Oh God, it's that ***** from the Family Values episode of *****. He claims to be a former gay and claims he can 'cure' gay people through his own therapy.
- carnag3aus, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19I bet you he really was gay.
- Bucketshred, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18There are a lot of books like this to help kids with problems at home or school and the likes. They are used quite a bit by therapists. It helps with getting them to talk about it to get past it rather than feel shamed and ignoring/bottling it up. There's more to it but I wouldn't be able to discuss it all too well.
- jtb4, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Because they don't want the victims to be afraid to tell. The kids probably imagine that Uncle Pete would have to apologize and feel sorry and that would be it. What would they do if you said Uncle Pete had his life ruined, went to prison, had to register as a sex offender for life, etc etc etc.
- vertigoblue, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17how did you know that???
- cruzlee, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17Sexual abuse is known and proven to be a cause of homosexuality. Maybe you are confused because there are also a lot of people who ARE born with it.
