- rjwusa, on 07/19/2008, -1/+17I for one am really getting tired of overly sensitive African-Americans who see every use of the word 'Black' as having some negative connotation towards their race. What are they expecting of non black Americans, the banning of the word 'Black'? I don't think so. Whiteout, white noise and white bread are three uses of the word 'white' that could send white folks into a frenzy if we chose to let it bother us. Enough is enough. Shut up already, you pathetic crybabies.
- Nannybell, on 07/19/2008, -1/+14He says that it's considered racist to say *Jew you down,* and thus it should be equally racist to say *black hole.* Ok, I know this is ridiculous to have to point out, but the word Jew has one and only one meaning: it is a reference to a particular group of people. The word *black* though is used in many different ways. Black hole is a scientific term. Mr. Price surely knows that. This is just a bit of free publicity for him. On another occasion somewhere else, someone said the word *niggardly* in its correct usage, but he got into all kinds of trouble because they thought he was making a racist comment. Then you have Jesse Jackson who uses the N word himself but comes unglued if anyone but blacks use it. What kind of a deal is that? These people do not help the cause of racial equality.
- Navigator7, on 07/19/2008, -1/+12I think the place is a looney bin and aptly described by Kenneth Mayfield.
Next case. - dlbfromLA, on 07/19/2008, -1/+12It's all well and good if you are Black and you can say anything about anybody, but if you are white and say anything remotely questionable you are labeled a racist. I have had enough a long time ago, so I really don't care what they think anymore!
- KJeffV, on 07/20/2008, -1/+10"After celebrating an excess of 20 yrs as Dallas Cnty Commish f/D-3, I must tell you that nothing is more valuable to me than the underpinning of my constituents." — John Wiley Price
key word: "excess" - michael43, on 07/20/2008, -2/+6This is ridiculous. Why don't they sue Crayola for having "black" crayons? I swear, its about more than we (spics, wetbacks, chinks and honky crackers) can stand.
- CColtManM, on 07/20/2008, -1/+8I'm racist. That's because the majority of stereotypes are true for the majority of their subjects. Of course, there is always a minority of a minority that does not follow the majority of the minority (Obama), and they are seen as "not black enough."
I think black people just like to fight. Oh, that's a stereotype.
Where are my reparations? If you didn't go through anything and get money, I want that privilege too. - PappyPapillon, on 07/20/2008, -1/+10Okay then, so we'll start calling black holes African-American holes. Is everyone happy now?
- KJeffV, on 07/20/2008, -0/+6Perfect! I was considering just how to say this very thing—in a sly & telling way w/o resorting to filth, of course—but you have nailed it, Sir!
- Salesti, on 07/22/2008, -0/+4I *have* started calling them "African-American holes". Hey, I care! XD

- tasine, on 07/20/2008, -1/+8Oh, my. Since I quit watching alphabet news, I'd forgotten about old John Wiley Price. Just like Jesse Jackson, he'll jump on anything at all if it can possibly be used to stir up racial strife. He seems to be one of those people who think they are so smart and doesn't know that people laugh at him when he says such stupid things. I wouldn't trust him to haul my garbage.
- WhiskeyWrites, on 07/20/2008, -1/+1I have to assume that if this is some big mistake (the guy didn't realize what a black hole is) then he is must have felt incredibly embarrassed when someone explained it to him. It's not even a slightly ambiguous racial term or anything...
- Salesti, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2I think he didn't CARE what it means. Someone said "Black".....and it made that someone a racist! He doesn't feel embarrassed because he is completely self-absorbed and lacking in compassion for other human beings, especially NON-BLACK ones. In his mind, he is right -- he is RIGHTEOUS! Doesn't matter what a black hole actually is.
Behavior like this makes me operate behind a wall of caution when dealing with acquaintances of melanin production in excess of my own -- not due to racism, but due to the fact that I don't know if the person I just met has a spring-loaded race card up his sleeve. I'll take my time getting to know them, because I DON'T want to be on the receiving end of this garbage.
*sigh*
It's everywhere.- WhiskeyWrites, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2You are probably right, I guess I was just hoping that maybe it really was a mistake of ignorance (to scientific terms) and the guy wouldn't apologize due to embarrassment.
- Salesti, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1I was hoping that too...... :(

- tendonut, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Did anyone ever think that the color black is ***** pissed off that scum like him are using it's name? I think the color black needs it's reparations. Even night is stealing from the color black! How would you like it if your name was associated with the time frame in which a high amount of crimes are committed?
We COULD start calling them #000000 and make everyone happy.....
