- Lynx34, on 06/11/2009, -0/+67We don't go to Ravenholm.
- woofers07, on 06/11/2009, -2/+44I'll never look at Pripyat the same after CoD4
- Jaime2000, on 06/11/2009, -0/+346. 4chan
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -2/+36 The Chernobyl Ferriss Wheel is super creepy.
- Loki101, on 06/11/2009, -0/+25Honestly, Pripyat is pretty high on my list of places to visit before I die. Something morbid in walking amongst the ruins of a city that could so easily have been one that I was born and raised in.
Gives you a sense of the mortality of man, if I may say so. - doom777, on 06/11/2009, -4/+2850,000 people used to live here. Now it's a ghost town.
P.S. I just got the game a few weeks ago, because of the hype on Digg. Loved it. Beat it on Hardened recently
P.P.S. I actually learned about a lot of cool things on Digg. <mbr /> tag, Firefly series. Digg comments is a cool website of its own. - NovaPrime9, on 06/11/2009, -3/+24Wow. No New Jersey jokes? The night must be young.
- doom777, on 06/11/2009, -1/+15Ghillied Up :)
- Joliman, on 06/11/2009, -1/+15I'd add Centralia, PA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centralia,_Pennsylvan ...
- inactive, on 06/11/2009, -0/+13Note to self: Visit some of these places.
- danielinvermont, on 06/11/2009, -0/+12Great photo essay on Chernobyl: http://www.kiddofspeed.com/chapter1.html
If you want something that might will really scare you or make you cry:
http://todayspictures.slate.com/inmotion/essay_che ... - NathanielJ, on 06/11/2009, -3/+13I really wish that people would at least *try* to think of original things to write about...
http://digg.com/odd_stuff/The_Six_Creepiest_Abando ... - Velnich, on 06/11/2009, -0/+10I would LOVE the opportunity to go off exploring some abandoned city with a camera.
- the3stars, on 06/11/2009, -1/+10CoD4's Pripyat is tame, compared to the lunatic infested, anomaly ridden radioactive wasteland of STALKER.
- mrpunman, on 06/11/2009, -0/+9I would love to play L4D maps of all of these places
- TheBigBad, on 06/11/2009, -1/+9Jersey is inhabited by the most creeps but it is not the creepiest place. Subtle difference.
- STBAT25, on 06/11/2009, -0/+8What about the Killing Fields in Cambodia. http://www.moonbattery.com/archives/killing-fields ...
- wassim2k, on 06/11/2009, -0/+6They obviously have not been to a NYC subway station bathroom.
- IglooFu, on 06/11/2009, -0/+5Other way around douchebag. The Pripyat missions are based on Pripyat.
- Aroundtown27, on 06/11/2009, -0/+4The catacombs is one of the coolest places to see in person... that is if you don't mind being around the bones of approximately 6 million people.
The pictures don't really do it justice. - moolfs, on 06/10/2009, -1/+5 Interesting stories and I would definitely add a couple places to the list.
- nshady, on 06/11/2009, -0/+4I visited Mary King's Close when I was in Edinburgh. It wasn't that creepy. Awesome to be walking through all these old houses and streets underground, but not creepy - though it was decently lit. Maybe a proper ghost walk would have been scarier.
- bcr8u, on 06/11/2009, -0/+4It's always night in new jersey!
- Velnich, on 06/11/2009, -0/+4I don't think my little point and shoot would distract me too much.
- aflaks, on 06/11/2009, -0/+4the descriptions are taken directly from Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris_Catacombs (example) - ArrowheadAddict, on 06/10/2009, -6/+9Not cool. Gives me the heebie jeebies.
- KermitJagger, on 06/11/2009, -0/+3Seems like a website created in 20 minutes to take advantage of the whole "lists" craze. Buried.
- Spore124, on 06/11/2009, -1/+4When I saw this title, the first thing I thought of was Chernobyl (in no small part thanks to the fantastic S.T.AL.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl), and I was happy to see Pripyat included on the list. Everything about an abandoned city gives me the chills.
- TheBigBad, on 06/11/2009, -0/+3That's a different list: World's Gangiest Places.
- Salzar, on 06/11/2009, -0/+3Wow the article is just places, with all the text from wikipedia. Even the syntax is the same.......oh well
- TheBigBad, on 06/11/2009, -0/+3Roads been closed for some time.
- KillCure, on 06/11/2009, -0/+2There's nothing creepy about most of those. Cracked.com's scariest islands was way better.
- link293, on 06/12/2009, -0/+2Mirror?
- diggeratwork, on 06/11/2009, -1/+3A really good HDR photo blog of Chernobyl by stuckincustoms:
http://www.stuckincustoms.com/2007/02/02/nuclear-w ... - DesertTripper, on 06/11/2009, -0/+2I vote for the Capitol Wasteland!
(Yeah, I know it's virtual, but after a 3-4 hour marathon playing the game, it seems all too real...) - babylonian, on 06/11/2009, -0/+2I love that there is an article on this site called "10 Worst Serial Killers".
- BrewBeau, on 06/11/2009, -0/+2Ghost walks live and die by the tour guide and the people on the walk, since ghosts don't exist. As long as you have a guide who seems to believe what they are saying and a few jumpy tourists, it should be good.
- BaphClass, on 06/11/2009, -1/+3Totally. I recently re-installed that game, after having played it just shortly after release. With a few gameplay and graphics mods included, it still managed to scare the crap out of me.
- Fixhotep, on 06/11/2009, -0/+2You could possibly make an argument for Flint. At it's peak, it had about 200k people. Now it's about 110k. IIRC, approximately 50% of the houses there are uninhabited.
- werkerholic, on 06/11/2009, -1/+3No Cabrini Green (Chicago); No East Oakland; No Filmore, SF; No Liberty City, Miami; No Flint, Mi; No S Bronx; pfffft ***** list
- sleuce, on 06/11/2009, -1/+3Neverland Ranch should be in this list.
- CylonsOfTheLamb, on 06/11/2009, -1/+3yeah, i'm so tired of people trolling around, waiting for something remotely similiar to a previous post, just so they can complain about it
- techguru2006, on 06/10/2009, -7/+9Note to self: never visit any of these places.
- shiftyroach, on 06/11/2009, -0/+2***** HDR
- BrewBeau, on 06/11/2009, -0/+2There was another post similar to this a few weeks ago with an abandoned amusement park in North Korea, I think, that was pretty creepy as well. It's kind of like seeing a half burnt baby doll at the scene of a tragedy but on a grander scale.
- jjesusfreak01, on 06/11/2009, -0/+2Honestly, I think everyone was thinking Pripyat would be on this list. An entirely abandoned and grown over large city. Not just some town that was down on its luck, but a city for 50,000 people.
- trizzleatl, on 06/11/2009, -0/+2http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centralia,_Pennsylvan ...
- eitelj99, on 06/11/2009, -0/+1These kinda posts get me pumped up for Halloween!!...Only 4 months and 20 days left...man, I need to get a life :(
- Armando57, on 06/12/2009, -0/+1My vote on the Creepiest Places is David Letterman's bedroom where he entertains little girls. His latest conquest: Sasha Obama "Once you go black, you never go back."
There I said it. Don't be offended by my words if you've been silent on his ***** with Willow Palin. You liberals are the biggest hypocrits in the world. - JellyFish62, on 06/11/2009, -0/+1Actually, some guys sometimes organize illegal rave party tand gigs there. I heard it's lots of fun.
