- jollyholly, on 10/10/2007, -2/+350Neat looking pic.. wish it said where each building was from..
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+236what's the point in grouping em together if they're not in scale?
- tjfloyd24517, on 10/10/2007, -10/+148I like it, yet there seems to be no purpose for this information.
unless you're a terrorist. - HunterTV, on 10/10/2007, -1/+109"...in a universe where physical space and proportion have no meaning..."
Who made this? Rod Serling? - Cloned, on 10/10/2007, -1/+60I agree, I won't be impressed until they're all to scale, and says what each state they're from.
- thomasoa, on 10/10/2007, -0/+48It's lame without scale coherence and labels telling us where.
- ladon86, on 10/10/2007, -0/+45Surely it's all a bit pointless if they aren't to scale...?
- nepawoods, on 10/10/2007, -0/+38Anyone can write one if they like. That's the beauty of wikipedia.
- Iwantawii, on 10/10/2007, -2/+34What are these?! The world's tallest buildings for Ants?
- troelsbay, on 10/10/2007, -1/+31perhaps he's aiming for a political career.
- Tamant, on 10/10/2007, -1/+28Wow the Wynn is tallest in Nevada. Unexpected
- TheBasass, on 10/10/2007, -1/+21It says they are in a universe where physical space and proportion have no meaning. So they are not to scale.
- desmonde, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19because terrorists are just hanging around in florida waiting for a chance like this
- johnny222, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16World's biggest dildo: http://www.chicagoarchitecture.info/CAI/Images/Nea ...
- jjb123, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17Because it isn't finished and plus Comcast sucks.
- Lasereth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14Why in the world would this make it to the front page if it's not to scale? Worthless picture.
- bg4468b, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17What about Guam? I hear the new Pizza Hut is mighty big.
- TheWorm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13You're right, It's actually a barn in central Wyoming.
- idugcoal, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Because you haven't written one yet! Get on it, my friend! When you have the time...
- stinkypinky72, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Adding the picture of the Comcast building would have caused excessive bandwidth usage so it got censored.
- PrettyLadyGrace, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13some of those states have some small buildings
- insomniac8400, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11If physical space and proportion have no meaning, how are we supposed to know which building is actually the taller one?
- Rxbrent, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Right. Why go through all the trouble this person did and then leave out such obvious and simple facts?
- DumDumDog, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Dug Down...
Hey person that did this photo thing....
Label the state and get some sort of scale from small to large it dose not have to be exact but some real effort would have been nice. - margelef, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Regarding the Stratosphere's exclusion, see the Wikipedia footnote: "The Stratosphere Tower, standing at 1,148 feet (350 meters), is taller than Wynn Las Vegas. However, since it is not fully habitable, it is considered a structure, not a building."
And Key Tower in Cleveland is included in the picture, it's the 12th building from the left...it looks like they took the picture directly from Wikipedia. - moofer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9These things aren't even close to scale. The highest occupied floor of the Sears Tower is WAY higher than the Empire State building. I think a better image would be, do a little research and do an illustration or silhouette instead. Label the buildings and their locations, as well as heights and square footage.
- Toshibi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+83 to the left of the Empire State Building is the Bank of America Building (Tryon Building) in Charlotte NC.
- dbhaley, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Easiest one to pinpoint by name alone? The Batman building, Nashville, TN
(Well to be fair, that's probably a nickname, but who's counting?) - JoeCool1986, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Starting at the very left, the 2nd one is the Bank of America tower from Atlanta, GA (I can see it out my window right now).
From Wikipedia: "It ranks as the 26th tallest building in the world. It is also the tallest building in the United States outside of Chicago and New York City, and the tallest building in any U.S. state capital" - laurad3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Interesting. Nice contrast of architectural styles - begs for ID's. Doesn't seem to be to scale.
- enogtres, on 10/10/2007, -4/+11haha. yeah! terrorists are just waiting to find out what buildings are tallest in the US. that's their only purpose. blowing up skyscrapers across the states. that's how it works!
Falling Towers Tour '07 ftw - wild, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8That comment was ridiculously good looking.
- BarneyF, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10Yeah I can't wait til Bush makes it illegal to take pictures of tall buildings or mention their names in public for "security reasons". In the Soviet Union the street maps also contained errors.
- bassgoonist, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8I'm not saying one way or the other...but wikipedia isn't the absolute most 100% correct source...
- Anth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7The Wynn isnt the tallest building in NV... the new Trump tower as well as the Palazzo at the Venetian are taller buildings, the Stratosphere is taller, but its a tower and the illustration didnt seem to include any towers in the style of the Stratosphere.
- GruntboyX, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I find it interesting the majority are Banking buildings.....
- krets, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7If you mean "my" as in the company that belongs to you then massive congrats!
If you mean "my" as in the place that knows you only as a number among millions of others, then you should probably never have piped up. - DjBlic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6hey look! something involving states and MS isnt dead last or 2nd to last :-D
go Beau Rivage! - HA5TY, on 10/10/2007, -4/+10I know the 2nd one is the Bank of America Plaza in Atlanta
- ryanfagan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6The referenced article in Wiki states that the Wyoming State Capitol is the tallest building in Cheyenne, WY and not the state:
http://www.worldalmanac.com/newsletter/200406WAE-N ...
The tallest building in the state is White Hall in Laramie, WY (at the University). I know its 12 stories but don't know the exact height. - jjk5, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Edgar Verona:
There's definitely some skyscrapers in Manchester, NH that are taller than that church. - Locke2053, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7The article is horribly inaccurate. If you've ever been to Parkersburg, West Virginia, you would know that there are buildings there MUCH taller than 3 stories.
- AlfieJ, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5The Wells Fargo building is 0.7 meters taller than the LDS church office building even though it has fewer floors.
http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?cityID=90 - DRINKxREDxBULL, on 10/10/2007, -1/+65 to left of the Empire State Building: IDS Centere, Minneapolis, MN (although 225 South Sixth is actually taller).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IDS_Center - fugeelama, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I won't bury you but you're wrong; the US Bank tower in LA is on there (6th from the right)
- das7282, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Labels would have been nice.
- mithrasinvictus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5was that meant as a summary of all previous comments?
- Triachus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5You'll love it with time. The most beloved buildings are always contested at first. Though it is pretty *****.
- roomforpanic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4The tallest building in Oklahoma is the Bank of Oklahoma building which is a 1:8 scale replica of the World Trade Center.
