- JamesMorris, on 11/26/2007, -9/+249He was also confirmed to be FPS Doug.
- inactive, on 11/26/2007, -3/+224What is most impressive, is his use of iron sights. That has got to limit your range quite a bit, and they still couldn't spot him. Extreme patience must have been required to pull off those kills. He just couldn't afford to miss.

- inactive, on 11/26/2007, -19/+196Must have had God Mode on
- Typhoon2009, on 11/26/2007, -5/+153Crazy stuff. Can't imagine what it was like to be him. Knowing you killed that many people, even if it was for a greater good, must have some sort of impact on your mind.

"He preferred to use iron sights rather than telescopic sights to present a smaller target and aid concealment"
holy crap - nphp20, on 11/26/2007, -9/+125It's a legitimate strategy.
- danevahey, on 11/26/2007, -0/+106What is most impressive is that this DID NOT limit his range - he was shooting people from 400 yards.
- TomP, on 11/26/2007, -10/+116BOOM HEADSHOT
- havokzero, on 11/26/2007, -2/+97This was taken after he got shot in the jaw.

- markwilcox, on 11/26/2007, -13/+103Well it's not hard to kill Soviet soldiers, all they had were sticks and occasionally a shovel.
Now, if it was a soviet sniper. - Encablossa, on 11/26/2007, -14/+91Attention Diggers: Stop repeating the kill phrases or face the consequences.
- cybrguy, on 11/26/2007, -4/+81Ok I get Häyhä on my team this round.
- ShrimpCrackers, on 11/27/2007, -3/+78It was more like:
HEADSHOT!... MULTIKILL!... ULTRAKILL!... KILLINGSPREE!... RAMPAGE!... UNSTOPPABLE!... MONSTERKILL!... GODLIKE!... - lucidguru, on 11/27/2007, -2/+77They actually asked him that question: "What did it feel like when you killed someone?"
And he said, "I felt recoil." - Randomheroz, on 11/26/2007, -2/+77Yes, because war is all about fighting fair
- Skooma714, on 11/27/2007, -3/+77*Achievement unlocked*
- EndersGame, on 11/26/2007, -4/+75How did you get that stat? The article never mentioned how many deaths he had, only kills.
- spoodigity, on 11/26/2007, -15/+83I think he beat me at GoldenEye.
- deathtom64, on 11/26/2007, -9/+74it's safe to say when he died he went to thug mansion.
- arcooke, on 11/26/2007, -6/+65Hey now.. this was a long time ago. He probably telefragged everyone.
- johnkyoungoh, on 11/26/2007, -5/+63This guy is The End from Metal Gear Solid 3.
- worthone, on 11/26/2007, -2/+55He didn't use a scope because it would have required him to raise his head, not much in the eyes of a layman, but enough to be killed. Secondly, he wanted to avoid reflections off the glass. Also, with freezing Finnish winters, scopes tended to steam up. He also devised additional sniping methods, among which one was to freeze the snow in front of his line of sight so that the snow would not interfere with the bullet, thus preventing tracking of his whereabouts.
While he didn't kill all of the 705 Soviets with just a sniper, what's truly incredible, however, is that he did ALL his killing in three months before he was wounded. - badmojo1961, on 11/26/2007, -1/+51FWIW, any of you diggers ever talk to your grandparents of great-grandparents about their personal, day to day experiences during WWII? No trolling, just curious.
- Buckiller, on 11/26/2007, -3/+52Killionaire!/Invincible!
- goerg, on 11/26/2007, -2/+48don't think so...after the first few im sure its getting business as usual
- inactive, on 11/27/2007, -0/+41Without context.. this comment is very disturbing.
- akeating, on 11/26/2007, -2/+40With sniping it's not "him or me" but "him or twenty of my countrymen in an artillery strike he is planning."
- stalzdiggity, on 11/27/2007, -2/+40apparently the only way to not get buried is to say something nerdy
- noots, on 11/26/2007, -2/+40the enemy never killed him and 505 was confirmed, hence 505-0
- AshamedAmerican, on 11/26/2007, -3/+41705-0
"Perfection" medal! - idleminded, on 11/26/2007, -0/+36Too Good.
- h4mx0r, on 11/27/2007, -1/+34Surely you mean an aimbot, and not a text spammer?

- CptBuck, on 11/27/2007, -0/+30My grandfather was at Chosin in Korea with E/2/5 of the first marine division. His company got closer to china than anyone else in the entire war. Similar conditions to this guy actually, it was the coldest winter in a hundred years, with windchill about -60 or so. They had rain slickers instead of winter gear and he said that you had to sleep on your side or your back would transfer too much heat and you'd freeze to death. He was on a machine gun on a hill when 100,000 chinese crossed the river to face off against 10,000 marines. Said that so many of them crossed the hill they all looked like ants, and they didnt have radios or anything so you'd just hear thousands of whistles and trumpets and pots and pans or whatever else the Chinese could get their hands on. Boxes of ammo back then had 250 rounds and he went through four on the first night. There was a "pile of bodies" in front of him the next morning. This was when he was about 19 years old. Anyways, they made it back and he stayed in the marines another 20 years and served in Vietnam in '68 south of DaNang, Dodge City, purple heart there cause he got part of a grenade in his eye. He always said though that nothing he saw in Vietnam held a candle to Chosin. Toughest man i ever knew.

"Besides his sniper kills, Simo Häyhä was also credited with as many as two hundred kills with a Suomi M-31 SMG submachine gun, thus bringing his credited kills to at least 705. However, the latter claim has never been substantiated. All of Häyhä's kills were accomplished within 100 days prior to injuries caused by an enemy bullet. Häyhä's record of an average of 5 kills a day, almost one kill per daylight hour of the short winter day, is unique." - daEvan, on 11/27/2007, -2/+29Yeah, he probably thinks, "I'm badass".
- xpankrat, on 11/26/2007, -0/+27Winter Was was a complete military disaster for Soviet Union. It happened a couple of years after a Great Purge of 1937, when pretty much all experienced military officers were either executed or imprisoned. There was basically noone left to plan the campaign. Soldiers were in fact a sitting ducks for Finnish army to practice on for most of the time.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Purge - JJ2K1, on 11/26/2007, -0/+27Very impressive, considering having to counter your own body shiver in that cold weather. Definitely a demoralizer for any military having to be on the receiving side of that!
- subterfuge, on 11/26/2007, -2/+28yeah i bet he shot fewer than 505 bullets to kill those 505 soviets. you can get a good 3 or 4 with one shot during a Meat Wave Assault
- brendar, on 11/26/2007, -4/+29See kids, practice makes perfect.
- bocaJWho, on 11/27/2007, -0/+23M-M-M-M-M-M-Monster Kill! kill...kill
