- viewdrix, on 10/10/2007, -2/+61The irony is that the person mocking them used a flowchart to do so.
- SvenGeiss, on 10/10/2007, -5/+64I never realized there was a hierarchy for furries, i ussumed they were all just ***** in the head.. didn't realize there were different levels of furry insanity
- Bonekhan, on 10/10/2007, -3/+33*****
- elnerdo, on 10/10/2007, -2/+23I thought that urbandictionary's definition was good.
"
Possibly the strangest sub-culture in all of geekdom. Furries range from being harmless fans fascinated by anthropomorphic characters and animals, to immensely withdrawn or self-abosrbed persons who actually believe, or want to believe, they're eagle-winged fox-like versions of themselves with giant gentalia who wouldn't dare be anything else that could be considered mundane. Furries defy any coventional or unifying definition."
But, the wiki should give you more information... if you really care. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furry_fandom - NeoCortex, on 10/10/2007, -2/+23Well said.
- Gryfft, on 10/10/2007, -9/+25And digg you down, and revile you, and spit upon you, and oh god why am I still talking to you you're a furry
- fadeout, on 10/10/2007, -4/+17Kinda old but worth reposting, I'm sure there's a lot of people who haven't seen this yet.
And it's very, very accurate... :P - KingBabi, on 10/10/2007, -4/+14It's a newb question, but what is a Furry? I looked it up on urban dictionary but it didn't make a whole lot of sense.
- shadowspawn, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12Cheetara (from the Thundercats) was pretty hot to me when I was a kid. I wrote a story on a BBS that i connected to with a damn phone coupler.
Guess I'm the lowest. Now get off my lawn. - WoodenKimono, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10What no love for Star wars geeks?
- ike368, on 10/10/2007, -4/+11star wars fans aren't geeks, they just have objectively good taste.
- psygnisfive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Some people like Doctor Who, and Stargate, and Farscape, and Babylon 5, and Earth: Final Conflict, and Andromeda, and Battlestar Galactica, and..
I think ultimately most scifi fans don't get that hardcore about shows, and couldn't be lumped into the category of Trekkie or Whovian or Gater or Scaper or whatever. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+11Pretty pointless, almost none of the categories are actually mutually exclusive.
- artofwar420, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9What the *****, pathy .
- innergeek, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9so, where do in the hierarchy do you insert "People who have their name legally changed to that of their favorite Star Trek character"? I knew a woman in the Air Force in the 80's who had legally changed her name to Saavik
- psygnisfive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9No, that's a fursuiter, a subtype of furry.
- GorfTron, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9necro-infant-furryies are about the most insane.
- HunterTV, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8There's different levels of all kinds of insanity.
- MosaicM, on 10/10/2007, -4/+10Oh trust me, there are different sorts of furries. Some which would REALLY scare you. Fur suiters really scare me. *shudder* and I'm a "standard" furry.
- GDLaws, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Mirror: http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/6035/geekchartbigir8.gif
- Coottie, on 10/10/2007, -4/+9could the type be any smaller?
- p0tent1al, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4DUDE......he was only JOKING
- azAZ09, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Nope Wow is below or equal to Larpers... Larpers actually often make it outdoors to enjoy sunlight ...and a select few even (gasp) date.
- SquigglyP, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6at least he didn't dress up like a flow chart.
- psygnisfive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6It's ironic that she was simultaneously an enormous supporter of the principles of libtertarianism and also a supporter of cult of personality irrationality.
- supernovasky, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Ayn Rand (Aka Giant *****)
- Aticper, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5That's a very good question, and one better left unasked.
- retral, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6WoW Players are somewhere between "RP gamers" and "Live action RPG'ers".
- Aticper, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5The chart actually extends one box down from the furries. It got cut off here, but it was labeled 'People who's self esteem increased when they saw themsevles near the top of this chart'.
- DesuKN, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5OMG FURSECUTION
- Rodman930, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4you're still a nerd.
- Aticper, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Sorry, you're on Digg.
- Chandon, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5As both a roleplaying gamer and a LARPer, I can assure you that I look down on WoW players. Having talked to WoW players, they think that looking down on me is justified. Then I mention that I hang out with people in person, occasionally even outside. They usually have no retort.
- 1337Einstein, on 10/10/2007, -10/+13People who look down on others for stupid ***** like this are the ones truly ***** up in the head. I'm a gamer, trekkie, anme fan who insists on subtitles, I have a collection of star wars novels, along with numerous other parts both on the list and those not mentioned. Not a furry myself, but ***** people who look down on others for something as trivial as that.
- Terr01, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4My favorite criticism of her is that (based on Atlas Shrugged) she's a crappy author. I mean, if I'm going to be reading a piece of polemic I want it to be both more entertaining and less obviously insulting my intelligence when it tries to score rhetorical points against fictional people and situations.
- RainDrizzleFog, on 10/10/2007, -5/+8I have a lot of high level geekery, but thankfully I'm no furry.
- PatoLucas, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6Oldie but goodie
- Aticper, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3You forgot 'Firefly'.
- rm999, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I don't get how a science fiction "literature" fan is above a video gamer. Half the males out there who are 6-30 are video gamers, whereas only the top 10% of the geekiest males are science fiction literature fans.
- MosaicM, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4If he had changed his name to Khan, that would have been awesome. But I'd always go around yelling KHHAAANNNN to him!
- Jugalator, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5Hilarious, especially the lower hierarchies :)
- psygnisfive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3*****, I'm such an ass for forgetting that.
- psygnisfive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5Not so much.
- Terr01, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Shameless Plug: Try the sci-fi stuff by Bujold. It's more "space opera" than sci-fi of the Arthur C. Clarke variety, but very enjoyable.
- Chandon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3As long as you butcher the lamb first, having sex with the resulting lamb-steaks is legal.
- themoors, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Sure "RPing as a Kzinti is "normal", whatever you say pal.
- StarManta, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3You're probably only saying that because, between all of those things, you're probably at the bottom of the food chain.... :)
- Terr01, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Dugg for honesty :P
- azAZ09, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3... and that furries somehow feel smugly superior to those who look down upon them. Tthe arrow has two points.
- Fafnir43, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1He could be using Dvorak or a non-English keyboard with freaky letter placements.
