- srodolff, on 10/25/2007, -1/+455This is not a financial problem. It's a psychological problem. This lady needs some serious counseling. And all of the credit cards need to be cut up, of course.
- derforseti, on 10/27/2007, -18/+363It's kind of like the wife is the president, and the husband is congress, isn't it?
- metapop, on 10/26/2007, -6/+317she must be destroyed
- reed311, on 10/26/2007, -4/+261And if they ever get a divorce, he'll inherit all the credit card debt and she'll get the house, cars and the kids.
- inactive, on 10/26/2007, -23/+262Blame the dumbass husband for popping out six kids and still being with her. Bravo.
- megadan76, on 10/25/2007, -2/+167Oddly, it's okay when the government exhibits this exact same behavior...
- mywhitenoise, on 10/27/2007, -14/+167Really? All I could say was '*****'.
- doctorfungi, on 10/25/2007, -13/+161I've been abused by random people in public, I've been back stabbed by friends, I've had people do horrible things to people I love... but never in my life have I wanted to punch someone in the face so bad. Jesus ***** Christ woman you need help.
- sarazen, on 10/25/2007, -3/+127What an example these idiots are setting for their six children.
- musters, on 10/26/2007, -5/+127My question is why are the credit card companies giving her cards? How come she is still able to charge to these cards?
- noobeffect, on 10/29/2007, -5/+124"When I do shop, I do kind of get a rush. It makes me feel good... but afterwards, though, I get depressed."
Someone should tell her she could actually get the same feelings by fingering herself without adding to the debt. - sotopheavy, on 10/25/2007, -4/+120Only sims 2 cheats can help her now.

- irvman21, on 10/25/2007, -9/+110This level of irresponsibility is becoming the standard. Most people don't get the opportunity to get into this level of debt, but every time I see someone in the grocery store talking on a iphone while paying with food stamps, it pisses me off just as much.
- inactive, on 10/27/2007, -23/+121All I can say is WOW!
- e68895f, on 10/26/2007, -15/+106Replace "The Mom" with "United States", "Starbucks" with "Weapons", add a few zeroes, and suddenly no one blinks an eye over it ......
- Puttzy, on 10/25/2007, -6/+88He is as dumb and as at fault as she is. It is quite like being in an abusive relationship, because there is absolutely NO respect. She is teaching her kids to lie to him, hiding things from him. Not saying divorce is the right thing, but dude needs to stand up and grow a set!
- CaptainNoPants, on 10/25/2007, -4/+86She's sick.
- Bdog2g2, on 10/27/2007, -2/+78I'd say Venti Bitch.
- brufleth, on 10/25/2007, -1/+76It is.
- Puttzy, on 10/25/2007, -0/+72From the Oprah link "And I have a daughter who has a neurological disease" And no health insurance?!?! This "mother" is truly a horrible person.
Also the dad make decent money. Why doesn't his job offer health insurance/ Is that common? Every job I have had has offered it to some level at least - Puttzy, on 10/26/2007, -1/+70because one way or another they will get their money, and interest.
- glasnostic, on 10/25/2007, -1/+63american children are the kids, with their futures being sold out now for temporary gains.
- jbrevik, on 10/26/2007, -1/+63Ahhhh. I love articles like these. They make me feel so much better about my self
- MiddleOfNowhere, on 10/25/2007, -10/+70People like this should be shot.
If she ruined just her own life - well; good riddance.
But leaving her kids (six frickin’ kids!) without health insurance so she can get ***** manicure?
Words fail me.
And it is not that she is ruining her own life. In the end, when these people end up on the street, someone has to compensate the loss that the credit card companies have endured. Guess who that will be, dear credit card holder?
What a sorry excuse of a human.
Oh, and while we’re at it: Her husband should be removed from the gene pool as well. Someone who lets such an obviously retarded Barbie "manage the bills" is a risk to the US economy as long as he is allowed to reproduce.
(And finally, shoot the banks that give these shopping junkies credit cards without proper background check.) - Battleloser, on 10/25/2007, -2/+57Then move back in 3 months later after she get it in the divorce.
- nogami, on 10/25/2007, -2/+55"Suze Orman's solution for them? Sell the houses and cars, move to Seattle, and for Mom to get her ass a job."
Please don't move to Seattle. She won't fit in. Move to Florida. Much better. - deflective, on 10/25/2007, -4/+57making the american people... credit card companies?
the enablers that will ultimately be responsible to account for the debt - internetcoward, on 10/25/2007, -4/+53this seems to be the norm for bored upper-middle-class housewives. My mom is beginning to become like this and my dad hates her for it.
- inactive, on 10/27/2007, -1/+49Grande bitch!
- sacherjj, on 10/25/2007, -1/+44You only drink two coffees a week?
- crimsonnblue, on 10/27/2007, -11/+54Yea. What a dumb bitch.
- quaxon, on 10/25/2007, -7/+49Seriously, this ***** is getting so out of hand in this country. I took a great class last semester on how we have turned into such a hyper-consumer culture and how so many people attempt to fight depression with shopping, yet shopping/the addiction to shopping makes us more depressed and detached from the ones we love. If anyone is interested in the topic a great book to read would be Affluenza by John De Graaf. The hyper consumerism that has taken over this culture is honestly a much bigger problem than we want to admit, it's really interesting what we are doing to ourselves.
- NessTheHero, on 10/25/2007, -1/+41"I'm a consumer whore!" "And how!"
- fasda, on 10/25/2007, -2/+41At that rate a divorce is probably cheaper.
- glasnostic, on 10/25/2007, -2/+39call me an ***** but that bitch needs a slappn'
- norman619, on 10/25/2007, -2/+39I'm saying it. divroce in this case is the right thing.
- wiirdo, on 10/25/2007, -0/+35I saw the Oprah. He work IT on contract. No insurance. And they guy is as guilty for being so blind. They (she) were spending 3X his income monthly. As the husband, how can you not associate that your wife is spending $2000+ on each child's birthday party with "SOMETHING IS ***** WRONG!"? At one birthday, she had a hill of snow brought in for sledding. They live in Southern California. *****.
- manstein01, on 10/26/2007, -3/+36Memo to all men out there making good money: be careful who you marry. That could be your wife someday.
- sotopheavy, on 10/25/2007, -0/+33I forgot these:
aging off
nosocialworker - quaxon, on 10/25/2007, -1/+33She is SERIOUSLY ***** up:
"Felice says she feels ashamed that she kept her spending habits from her husband, but she feels more ashamed that her children have no medical or dental coverage, which she says would only cost $1,000 a month. "My children have had things happen. We almost lost a daughter a couple years ago to a ruptured appendix and also I've had health problems. And I have a daughter who has a neurological disease," she says. "It's total selfishness. My kids mean the world to me and I should be putting them first, but I put myself first. … It's shameful."
Her behavior really hit home, Felice says, when her daughter graduated from preschool. "She said on tape that what she wanted to be when she grew up was a mom because they like to shop a lot," she says. "That's the message I'm sending my children.""
This is what our culture breeds people, when you have a culture where status and cache is based on what you have, how much you buy, a society where the 'keeping up with the jones's' mentality is the heart of american life, people start to worry more about their material possessions rather than their own family. - hockey, on 10/26/2007, -0/+31Link to the original story on Oprah (yes it's oprah's website but get a grip)
www2.oprah.com/money/credit/slide/200710/credit_20071018_284_101.jhtml
Basically she's admitting she has a serious problem but at the same time she's not REALLY willing to do something about it. It took someone sitting her down and actually SHOWING her what she was doing for her to say "whoa I've got a problem". That and the fact that her kids don't have any insurance because of her habits.
Props to Suze Orman for not pulling any punches too with both mom and dad. - gibsonic, on 10/25/2007, -3/+34that's one expensive prostitute.
- jspegele, on 10/25/2007, -0/+31Which would leave this guy with at least half of that debt and 6 kids worth of child support. He's screwed either way.
- NuFadZoo, on 10/27/2007, -2/+33She'll get a reality show, make lots of money and be fine.
- harrypl0tter, on 10/25/2007, -5/+35If my wife did that she would be out of my damn house....
- blatantninja, on 10/25/2007, -1/+31I have no sympathy for the husband. Anyone that doesn't keep track of the finances of the family (either spouse) deserves what they get. I have a constant battle with my wife trying to get her to keep up with our finances so nothing surprises her.
- sacherjj, on 10/25/2007, -0/+30Yeah. Because half the debt in addition to child support for 6 would REALLY help his situation.
- Nougat, on 10/25/2007, -4/+34That's not about consumerism, that's about addiction. Substitute any behavior for shopping, and your message is the same.
- _skin_, on 10/25/2007, -1/+30It is, this is just crazy bad.
