The Lives of Women Who Buy and Own Fake Babies (Freaky!) watch!
youtube.com — My Fake Baby explores the lives of women who spend hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of pounds on life-like baby dolls. Known as "reborns" some of the dolls have beating hearts, others have tiny veins and even milk spots. Loved like real babies, they're taken for walks, cuddled and even have their nappies changed.

- willscottsi, on 01/07/2008, -0/+84OK, that's just freaky.
- tyywebb, on 01/07/2008, -3/+17First of all, WTF??!?! Second of all, when you think about it it's just the female version of the guys that buy those "ultra-realistic" sex dolls.
- rnwen2750, on 01/07/2008, -6/+24Okay, what's freaky is that you equate maternity instincts with sexual frustration.
- t0ny, on 01/07/2008, -1/+8Women want to take care of babies and men want just to make them. Seems normal to me. :)
- Locke2053, on 01/07/2008, -1/+7Maternal instincts and sex instincts are both primitive reproductive instincts. In both cases, people are simply stimulating them artificially.
- shaun1018, on 01/07/2008, -1/+1What the hell do you think they are doing with these dolls!?!
- chijim70, on 01/07/2008, -0/+2And the comparison makes this less pathetic and creepy how?
- rnwen2750, on 01/07/2008, -6/+24Okay, what's freaky is that you equate maternity instincts with sexual frustration.
- Tpot, on 01/07/2008, -0/+6superfreaky
- spenderaka, on 01/07/2008, -2/+14I saw this two times in a ten year span. Once in a stroller and once caring a doll in a grocery store.
But I've never seen a guy walking around with blow-up doll.
The woman seem to dissociate themselves from reality.
Spender a.k.a. - MarkusGarvey, on 01/07/2008, -1/+14GET IN MY BELLY!
- ChileanGoD, on 01/07/2008, -0/+13It is freaky but i think it is a good idea. Do you really want those morons to reproduce? Let them have their plastic toys.
- CaptainTater, on 01/07/2008, -1/+10Thought it said "fake boobies". Let down. :(
- ADWestCo, on 01/07/2008, -5/+3That's okay. You're enough booby for everybody.
- shaun1018, on 01/07/2008, -3/+2lame, go hang yourself.
seriously.

- Chompy, on 01/07/2008, -1/+9Prank idea: replace one of the fake babies with a real one, then watch the nutter's reaction when she walks into her "storage room".
- latrosicarius, on 01/07/2008, -1/+5"Women Who Buy and Own Fake Babies"
What about the women who Buy, but for some reason, don't own their fake babies?? - LethaLAziE, on 01/07/2008, -1/+3this baby is freakier. http://youtube.com/watch?v=am6hhDqeaTg
- passedoutghost, on 01/07/2008, -0/+0Damn! It's mini Gollums!
- tgc1, on 01/07/2008, -0/+1This is not freaky, this is sad. Some people cannot have children, and to have to resort to this is quite sad really. I think everyone who wants to have a child, should be able to. Unfortunately, just the opposite seems true. Those who don't want children, end up with children. Those who want them, end up not being able to conceive, or have other problems. I don't think people should judge these bunch for wanting what most people have. I would say, however, that the first couple who just didn't want to create their own because they were having "too much fun" was nonsense. In any case, there's always adoption.
- igyigyigy, on 01/07/2008, -2/+1If only there were a system under which unwanted children could be given to loving parents...
[edit] I just noticed you mentioned adoption on the last line, sorry [/edit]

- dood, on 01/07/2008, -0/+98It seems like there must be some sort of emotional disorder at play here. I'm guessing that way more than 10% of people were creeped out by it, but were too polite to say so.
- Xerone, on 01/07/2008, -0/+6It is very creepy...
- MillionsLivio, on 01/07/2008, -0/+12I'd say more like 95%.
- danconia, on 01/07/2008, -0/+13I'm almost wondering if some lost a baby at some point. Miscarriages and/or infant deaths may have caused them to become neurotic.
I'm still trying to figure out what's wrong with adopting a real baby though...?- pauleric, on 01/07/2008, -1/+6There are (in the US at least) far more people who want to adopt than there are available babies. Oh yeah, and just because it hasn't been said enough times yet: this is creepy.
- MaTT2011, on 01/07/2008, -1/+12while its creepy i must admit it kinda makes sense when you think about what our primal, ingrained, instincts and urges really are. So many people, mostly women i would say, desire to have BABIES.....not necessarily children. There is some genetic imperative within us that compels us to create offspring and like many other genetic imperatives (think men preferring women with large breasts or the desire to "fit in" socially within the pack) we have used science, technology, artistry and intelligence to create suitable placebos, or replacements, to satisfy those imperatives.
Any way you look at it theres something interesting to be learned here. - tgc1, on 01/07/2008, -3/+2Maybe this is a sign of the times. People to busy to conceive children? Shouldn't society start worrying about that? Human kind must continue to replenish the dying and the dead. Otherwise as a species we will become extinct. And you might laugh, but you must realize that it takes about 12-18 years for a person to reach sexual maturity and adulthood. It is taking longer than that for most people to get on with life. At this rate, we will start to notice a decline in the number of people on this planet. The scary thing is, it's not a few thousand people you notice in the decline, it's a couple hundred million.
- matrixbandit, on 01/07/2008, -3/+2Hahahaha. Oh man you seriously had me going there for a second, I actually thought you were serious! LOL I mean really, just think.. people aren't having enough children! Hahahaha. I don't know why you're getting dugg down, that was hilarious.
- tgc1, on 01/07/2008, -1/+1Might be easy for you to forget, but the last time there was a significant surge in reproduction was after the second world war. The Baby Boom era. Now that that is done, we have a sort of decline in the number of births. You can laugh now, but in 50 years when those Baby Boomers and their kids go into retirement who is going to fill their shoes? It looks rosy on paper now, because of the immigration rate, but if you were to close off immigration completely you'd notice a sharp drop in the number of births per capita.

- Jillish, on 01/07/2008, -3/+82I think some of those women really shouldn't have kids. These dolls might actually be a good think for the sake of evolution.
- davidlow, on 01/07/2008, -1/+2Yeah, those women are fake, too, just in a different way.
- vault, on 01/07/2008, -3/+60This is treating babies like they're a fashion accessory. Very bizarre.
- popfrogs, on 01/07/2008, -0/+13Follows what Hollywood is doing these days.
- IRoaChI, on 01/07/2008, -1/+5They have been for a while now.
- jiveturkeyblues, on 01/07/2008, -0/+1f'real. at least these aren't living things they're using..so it's not a terrible thing, once you think about it.
- tgc1, on 01/07/2008, -0/+1Actually, I think these women, as mentioned in the video are trying to answer a maternal instinct without the actual consequences of having children. Somewhat selfish when I think about it, but then, i'm not in their shoes. I don't know what they want out of life. So to judge them is pretty cold hearted I think.
- PixelCloud, on 01/07/2008, -3/+1I believe its more so an extreme case of Empty Nest Syndrome http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empty_nest_syndrome
- Grym11, on 01/07/2008, -0/+1I don't think so. Empty nest syndrome is something that happens after a parent has children and the children grow up and leave. Empty nest syndrome is just a response to a major life change (an adjustment disorder, as I understand it).
Theses women, on the other hand, probably do not have children and are merely trying to fantasize about what it must be like--not unlike a little girl playing with dolls. It's the very definition of the psychological defense mechanism of regression more than anything. I think if someone were to examine the women who use/buy these fake babies, you'd find that there's more (psychologically) going on there than just wanting a child.
- Grym11, on 01/07/2008, -0/+1I don't think so. Empty nest syndrome is something that happens after a parent has children and the children grow up and leave. Empty nest syndrome is just a response to a major life change (an adjustment disorder, as I understand it).
- mahdaeng, on 01/07/2008, -0/+2It may be bizarre to treat babies like they're a fashion accessory, but it is unfortunately nothing new.
- KMye, on 01/07/2008, -2/+48Wow, these dolls open up an entire new level of twisted hidden camera show pranks... I'm going to hell...
- shaun1018, on 01/07/2008, -0/+3You'd be in good company at least.
- brentinkc, on 01/07/2008, -23/+8This is why sexism exists. If you're going to behave irrationally, expect to be treated as such.
- xstarsprinklesx, on 01/07/2008, -1/+4I assure you that the behavior illustrated in this documentary is not indicative of the general female population.
- CannedMango, on 01/07/2008, -3/+46This is the female equivalent of the documentary:
Guys and Dolls (2006) (http://www.moviesfoundonline.com/guys_and_dolls.ph ...

in which men buy dolls which look like real women and then live with them as if in an actual relationship.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- TsuruchiBrian, on 01/07/2008, -0/+2I agree totally. It's just people trying to use a substitute for a human relationship they are lacking.
I think the guys with the sex dolls are a little more depressing to me, because I am pretty sure most of them will never really find a woman that will love them.
As for these women with the fake dolls, they could just adopt a baby, even if they are not biologically capable of having one. I am still watching all the parts, so maybe there is some reason why these woman can't adopt I am not yet aware of.- mahdaeng, on 01/07/2008, -0/+1They probably can't adopt because they're insane.
- mahdaeng, on 01/07/2008, -0/+1Regarding the "Guys and Dolls" thing, while that is horribly disgusting, I can't find too much difference between those fabricated, empty-headed, plastic dolls, and the surgically altered, empty-headed, plastic females that are all the rage in Hollywood and pop culture. All the fake noses, hips, bottoms, legs, ears, tummies, and breasts that we see ever more frequently are not too far from the fully plastic toys in the video.
- therealityweb, on 01/07/2008, -0/+0there was an indie film (with ryan gosling) that was just released about a guy's relationship with a real doll called "Lars and the Real Doll".
had to watch it for a human sexuality course. pretty interesting.

- stephant, on 01/07/2008, -0/+7Sorry, Johnny Knoxville of Jackass beat you to it. He also drove off with the fake baby (not these of course) on the roof of his car. Pretty funny.

- pateo, on 01/07/2008, -4/+21I don't get the whole pushing them around and giving them heartbeats and such. But those dolls are beautifully made, I could see them as a collector item if you were into such things.

- NGliam, on 01/07/2008, -1/+7I didn't watch the show (it was on TV in the UK last week) and I'm pretty sure these dolls are worldwide. ***** you racist thank you please.

- rnwen2750, on 01/07/2008, -2/+7Oh noes! The fake babies are on the rise! Soon every white Christian will have one and there will be more of another type of people!
- Nudar, on 01/07/2008, -5/+1If you think it would be a good thing for England to have sharia law then you are a fool.

- Nudar, on 01/07/2008, -5/+1If you think it would be a good thing for England to have sharia law then you are a fool.
- johnn11238, on 01/07/2008, -1/+5Fake babies are the cause of the shrinkage of Britain's "native population"?? Wow, this problem must be more widespread than they're letting on... Should we...do something about this????????????
- mllawso, on 01/07/2008, -0/+3I'm sure none of these "native Britains" are descended from any past invaders, like the vikings.
- bowens44, on 01/07/2008, -0/+2What a ridiculous comment.

- danconia, on 01/07/2008, -0/+5Oh you didn't know? Even real people don't often buy their father presents on Father's Day. Sad but true from what I've seen at least...

- ryan83189, on 01/07/2008, -0/+24I know a couple(not personally) that had a fake baby doll and carried it everywhere. They also walked in the road as if they were driving a car, obeying traffic signals etc.
- danconia, on 01/07/2008, -0/+1Um, is that legal?
- popfrogs, on 01/07/2008, -0/+3No, the question is, is that sane?

- shaun1018, on 01/07/2008, -0/+1Hooray for weed babies.
- BlaenkDenum, on 01/07/2008, -0/+3There was a lady like this (The LandLady) in Jackie Chan's Rob-B-Hood movie. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rob-B-Hood It's a really great movie by the way.
"The Landlady (包租婆): The Landlord's wife, played by Teresa Carpio. Driven mad by the death of her only son many years earlier, the Landlady carries a doll of a baby boy with her at all times." - Wikipedia- passedoutghost, on 01/07/2008, -0/+1That movie is freaking hilarious. The scene where the baby starts sucking on Jackie Chan's nipple still makes me laugh. Trust me you've got to see that.
- joshuagor44, on 01/07/2008, -8/+5What the ***** is wrong with these British wankers?
- CannedMango, on 01/07/2008, -1/+7Probably the same thing that's wrong with the *American* company that makes these things....
http://www.realdoll.com/- danconia, on 01/07/2008, -0/+2Damn it.
- CannedMango, on 01/07/2008, -1/+7Probably the same thing that's wrong with the *American* company that makes these things....
- twiztidsinz, on 01/07/2008, -1/+3seriously... W.T.F.?
- andywebb95, on 01/07/2008, -3/+3As I understand it the female drive to have offspring is as strong as the males drive to reproduce. Men desire the act, women desire the end product. So I can see the appeal if a woman is in a situation where she is unable to have children (either through sex or adoption).
- Dustmuffins, on 01/07/2008, -2/+3While it may seem like women don't like having sex to the average digger, they actually enjoy doing it for fun, just not with you.
- popfrogs, on 01/07/2008, -2/+2They like having sex if it means a shopping trip or a large valuable gem is in their near future.
- Dustmuffins, on 01/07/2008, -2/+3While it may seem like women don't like having sex to the average digger, they actually enjoy doing it for fun, just not with you.
- DeFex, on 01/07/2008, -1/+5lol i wonder what would happen if you left it in the car on a hot day and some nosy person saw it and called the cops.
- danconia, on 01/07/2008, -1/+5What do you mean you wonder what would happen? A "nosy" person would see it and call the cops... you said it yourself. And I don't see what's so nosy about being concerned about a (possible) infant's health.
- triggerfinger, on 01/07/2008, -0/+2freaky
- Xerces, on 01/07/2008, -0/+12I can has mental ward room for 2?
- ninephoenixes, on 01/07/2008, -0/+10The only way this could possibly be creepier is if one of them also has a Real Doll.
- CannedMango, on 01/07/2008, -0/+2as the husband?
There has to be at least one out there...- doolie, on 01/07/2008, -0/+2Ha! When the husband of the curly-haired lady was talking about how they each have their own hobbies, I fully expected him to say his hobby was Real Dolls.
- CannedMango, on 01/07/2008, -0/+2as the husband?
- CTK14A, on 01/07/2008, -1/+4So do they keep the baby throughout the years--in perpetual baby form? Or do they upgrade? I imagine fake toddlers would be a bit more difficult.
- willhockey16, on 01/07/2008, -0/+2Neighbors will start to get suspicious
- dood, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1Consider this: Some of these women have flesh children. If they keep these fake babies forever, chances are they will be passed down. Imagine inheriting the physical evidence of your mother's quirk|mental illness after she dies.
Creepy.
- peestandingup, on 01/07/2008, -1/+1Its gone. Anyone have another link??
Nevermind. Its only the play in a page link thats broken. - Dested, on 01/07/2008, -0/+11If the eyes would have opened at 1:41 I would have ***** my pants.
- kaevne, on 01/07/2008, -0/+8While this seems laughable now, I'd say 25-75 years from now the world and its media will start contemplating robot partners of all sorts.
- tgc1, on 01/07/2008, -0/+1Glad someone clued in. This is just the beginning. In the future your kids are going to give you hell because you didn't have a robot of your own.
- JenadaeXX, on 01/07/2008, -2/+11Women are weird weird beings...
- passedoutghost, on 01/07/2008, -1/+0She seemed pretty stable and hot...I'd like to make a few "reborns" with her if you know what i mean...
- directive0, on 01/07/2008, -0/+2You can't honestly tell me this is any less creepy then the dude who brought his real doll girlfriend to thanksgiving, or a trip to the beach, etc etc etc. Its weird to see people using artificial means to replace a natural urge, one driven by sexual gratification, the other for reproduction. But in the end, a perfectly transparent act of human instinct.
- seanhive, on 01/07/2008, -0/+6I hate to say that this seems even worse than guys who hang out with Real Dolls.
- squeaker, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1Agreed. At least they *know* they're pathetic.

Very interesting while incredibly sad...... - soil, on 01/07/2008, -0/+4I wonder if some women feel safer in public with them.
- popfrogs, on 01/07/2008, -0/+2That's a really good point. I bet if you ran statistics, women slugging around babies are probably at very low risk of crime.
- sw33tsarin, on 01/07/2008, -1/+3But they dont cry, piss or *****. Man I had to take care of one of these damn plastic satans when I was in High School and it sucked. These women shoudl go all the way and buy the ones (dolls) that actually interact like a real child, now that'd be a hobby. Theyre taking the pussy way out using it as a mere accessory. These women are absolutely creepy and really lazy. "Its like being half a parent." Yeeeaaahhh, you keep thinkin that.
