- thedefiantone, on 10/11/2007, -11/+367To be fair, women had to do all these things because oral sex hadn't been invented yet.
- IShouldBeWorkin, on 10/11/2007, -12/+202i put a copy of this on my fridge, after all thats the only place a woman should be lookin, plus the stove doesnt have enough magnet space
- kingkilr, on 10/11/2007, -13/+168WTF is the point of writing this, women can't read...
- jubilee123, on 10/11/2007, -13/+152Why did the woman cross the road?
Who cares? Why wasn't she in the kitchen? - wildfire, on 10/11/2007, -6/+136And what was the timeline on that?
Vaginal (50,000BC) - Anal (49,999BC) - Oral (1969AD)? - SavageBlackCat, on 10/11/2007, -8/+129Ah - and people wonder why divorce rates where lower then.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+118Ha, it might be a hoax: http://www.snopes.com/language/document/goodwife.asp
- supernovasky, on 10/11/2007, -6/+116LOL!
"Be a little gay and a little more interesting for him"
I wish. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -12/+106They don't make 'em like they used to.
- break99, on 10/11/2007, -13/+78Now the roles are reversed... well done feminists.
- catalysis, on 10/11/2007, -0/+60This is still done today. Just take a look at "cosmo", it's filled with articles like "15 ways to please your man." I don't think it's really that big of a deal. This one is just a little culturally outdated. Now all the articles list new sex positions and stuff.
- mishabear, on 10/11/2007, -5/+58Women didn't have to work to help put food on the table back then either. Ah, the good ol' days.
- Battleloser, on 10/11/2007, -3/+55The first half of that list isn't really unreasonable in a mommy stays home situation.
- burnstyle, on 10/11/2007, -2/+52"Be a little gay"
i know the that always cheers me up - DeeX, on 10/11/2007, -0/+49My mom is pissed.

- CAPSLOCKISCOOL, on 10/11/2007, -9/+47This isn't "circa 1955," it's from the exact year 1955 (there's a date at the top)
- blaze4metal, on 10/11/2007, -2/+401) Work like slave 8+ hours a day
2) Go home and be slave remainder of day
3) Bring money - Anrkist, on 10/11/2007, -15/+49While it may be a Hoax... we can still dream of when they knew their place, can't we?
- darthtrevino, on 10/11/2007, -3/+35and who gave her shoes?
- timdorr, on 10/11/2007, -7/+34My girlfriend would be very upset if she was able to read that
- brundlefly76, on 10/11/2007, -15/+40omg if ONLY - WHY wasn't I born in 1930?
My life would be AWESOME if my wife behaved like that!
I love that they werent supposed to say ANYTHING about not coming home. - TheRyanSinger, on 10/11/2007, -11/+35i logged in just to digg this!
- ladymix, on 10/11/2007, -0/+24Man that guy sounds like he has a really, really horrible job
- cephelo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+25Women (and men) still do this, even in western cultures. It isn't as widespread as it used to be, and we now have a choice to enter into such arrangements. Many people find peace of mind in subservience to another. Being able to choose that lifestyle is the great distinction.
- BrainInAJar, on 10/11/2007, -1/+25wrong? or very, very right?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -9/+32The good ol' days.
- dougbell, on 10/11/2007, -4/+26The 50's were awesome.
- cybermort, on 10/11/2007, -2/+23talking like that isn't going to get you laid
- rejoined, on 10/11/2007, -2/+22Edit: I mean 1950s. Stupid typo.
- aschocobo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+22the origins may be dubious, but this mindset isn't as far removed as it may seem. actually, i'm not trying to digg whore or anything, (it's not even my submission), but it reminds me of a digg story i read a little while ago:
http://digg.com/offbeat_news/Surrendered_women
direct link: http://sixtyminutes.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=270407
it's somewhat related. - SavageBlackCat, on 10/11/2007, -1/+19And they didn't have to own the latest SUV, or have to live in a 5,000+ sq ft house, ...
- JohnboiWaltune, on 10/11/2007, -6/+23Why work your ass off all day to come home to unappreciative kids, and a bitchy wife who is secure in the knowledge she can take you for everything in divorce court? If you're single, at least you're certain to appreciate the work you've done to make your own life better. There is simply not much incentive to get married these days.
Some of that article is sexist ***** ('A wife always knows her place", "don't question his judgment" come on...) But "be happy to see him", "don't greet him with whining", etc... that's sound advice to keep a marriage working.
It's also great after dinner when your woman invites the hot nextdoor neighbor over to "be a little gay" for everyone's amusement. - burnstyle, on 10/11/2007, -10/+26dont like the users at digg?

we sure wont miss you - walmartconnect, on 10/11/2007, -7/+23Ah, those were the days...
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+19Yeah, when most people walked and took the bus to the mills to get to work, when stuff like TVs, cars, and washing machines were considered luxuries. When houses were in the 700 square feet ballpark.
What were life expectancies back then? We have it much better nowadays, and most of us CAN be raise a family on a single income, we choose not to. It's all about keepin up with the Joneses - 42Vindictive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16Babe, if you're gay, you're already interesting.
- adarkmethod, on 10/11/2007, -2/+17im pretty sure its being posted here for comedic reasons... and hopefully your comment is sarcasm... if not, do i need to make you a drink?
- dpratt, on 10/11/2007, -9/+23Am I the only person who doesn't see anything at all wrong with this as long as there's a corresponding 'Good Husband's Guide'?
- brucerchapman, on 10/11/2007, -5/+18It's a hoax article, as are most other pieces like this. They are always given away by using modern language in supposed old text. Although kudos for using the word 'gay'.
The idea of the person staying at home keeping the house clean and tidy and children fed isn't that outrageous. Take the gender roles out of it and it's not that unreasonable. For the stay-at-homer to keep the place tidy while the breadwinner is out providing is not an outrageous idea. Being nice to your spouse isn't old fashioned either. Want your husband to get angry at you? Tell him he's not a real man. Want a slap from your wife? Tell her the next door neighbour is more femine and sexy. - someotherdude, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14Ah, but if we submit it often enough then maybe it'll come true. Ron Paul for President!!
- rogersmj, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14"There is simply not much incentive to get married these days" ??
Call me a sap, but how about being in love and wanting a family? Sure, there's not much incentive for YOU to get married if you're looking to get yourself a personal servant and someone to stroke your ego when you come home from work every day... and the fact that you're only concerned about making your own life better proves the point. Of course, I don't exactly expect to find the world's greatest experts on relationships here on Digg. - wildfire, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12I think you missed this discussion the other day: http://www.digg.com/health/Survey_Women_Twice_as_Likely_to_Commit_Domestic_Violence
- xstarsprinklesx, on 10/11/2007, -6/+17You must have a pretty low threshold for "awesome" if all you require out of a romantic life partner is servitude.
- defectDS, on 10/11/2007, -7/+18Sadly, this is how my grandpa treats my grandma. I feel so bad for her.
- Dreww40, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11Can't do much damage with that then, can we? Perhaps it should have been a rule of wrist.
- MikeMcG, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12I disagree. Kingkilr's comment was funny and Timdorr's comment just added to the chuckles 'n *****.
- Nereus90, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Good point. It really isn't much different from the women's/girl's magazines of today. But, I still think it is all filth; albeit humorous filth.
- jtbandes, on 10/11/2007, -4/+14@zaibatsu
"Ha, it might be a hoax: http://www.snopes.com/language/document/goodwife.asp"
