- Polycarp87, on 11/15/2009, -10/+177Shoppped. I have been to the real thing in MW2 and it looks nothing like this.
/s - OmNomNomBACON, on 11/15/2009, -1/+102I always thought it would be fun to renovate an old fuselage and live in it.
- Nerotique, on 11/15/2009, -3/+98I'm kinda doing that now. Except it's in a van, down by the river.
- zorxsplat, on 11/15/2009, -3/+88anybody remember this from GTA San Andreas?
- hardthinker, on 11/15/2009, -12/+87Fascinating.... shame about the HDR photography.... what happened to subtlety?
- TigerStar337, on 11/15/2009, -2/+55The Tucson airplane graveyard: http://www.stockwellphotos.com/catalog_amarc.htm
- ClaireQuilty, on 11/15/2009, -6/+53I've said it before and I'll say it again. HDR is the hammerpants of our time.
- Kitlus, on 11/15/2009, -1/+46yeah, and i remember trying to do the plane training and wondering why every time i flew up my engine cut off. honestly, it took me weeks to realise you had to put your wheels up before you could fly properly.
- biofriendlyblog, on 11/15/2009, -1/+36Definitely a sight to see!
- Laminarcissus, on 11/15/2009, -0/+34Always a good decision to have your girlfriend's nephew design your web site.
- feenstrovski, on 11/15/2009, -1/+32Google map of the Tucson one: http://tinyurl.com/yb9tl7u
- IamZed, on 11/15/2009, -1/+30Thats not in the Mojave. It's just out the back door of the National Air and Space Museum in Washington. I saw in Transformers 2.
- Polycarp87, on 11/15/2009, -0/+25But it isn't balanced for lean!
- Superhaas2000, on 11/15/2009, -6/+30Not Dugg because of HDR.
- mrmontrose, on 11/15/2009, -3/+19Hey HDR, please die already, the novelty has worn off. It is no longer particularly difficult to do nor original. It is like some ass that applies the color pencil filter to his Myspace photo because he is "arty".
- frozensnake, on 11/15/2009, -0/+16you mean like every post apocalyptic movie and video game ever made?
- Mujokan, on 11/15/2009, -0/+14That's still probably the game I've put most total hours into... Not just "remember", I could maybe draw a map of it blindfold.
- vonsama, on 11/15/2009, -2/+16At least that map looks like it can be played on a dedicated server.
- directedition, on 11/15/2009, -1/+14http://www.airplanehomes.com/
- Chairboy, on 11/15/2009, -0/+11When I was getting my pilot certificate back in 04 in Los Angeles, I did a training XC flight to Mojave so I could check that out. I had also driven up there for the SpaceShipOne flight, so it was really exciting to fly to and land at an honest-to-goodness spaceport.
After landing, I found the guy the article mentions and got the same truck-tour of the graveyard, and it was awesome. The history there is palpable.
If you're in the area, check it out for sure. - drewchapman, on 11/15/2009, -0/+10Hell yes! That was my favorite place to go in SA. Great, now I really want to play that game immediately. Like Mujokan, I put so many hundreds of hours into that game that I remember the entire map like the back of my hand. GTAIV was awesome, but San Andreas really took things to the limit with the gameplay.
- Mujokan, on 11/15/2009, -0/+10Random anecdote... I went to a friend's house to play SA, using my save game. I went out to that airport in a Lear Jet to jump in the Cobra, and banked it round 180ยบ and landed on the airstrip straight as a die. I can still remember the reaction, like: aren't you embarrassed that you've played this game enough to be able to do that?
- nogami, on 11/16/2009, -2/+10First thing I noticed.
Overused, BS HDR imaging.
Here's a thought. It doesn't make your pictures look any better... Just the opposite...
If I wanted to see clouds, I'd stare at the sky. I want to see the damn planes... - MacBookForMe, on 11/15/2009, -1/+8I wanna join my buddy...these cool pics were far too persuasive...
- Idiggapony, on 11/15/2009, -0/+6That's so cool.
It's hard to believe there isn't some better use for these things. I'd love to buy one of those stripped old B-52 fuselages and put it in my backyard. Except that it wouldn't fit in my backyard, and I'm not sure how I'd get it there. It wouldn't really fit on the roof of my car. - Jinkinz, on 11/15/2009, -1/+7Windows Live Maps of the same location...
http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=pbrhb55ry7zg& ... - usingpond, on 11/15/2009, -2/+8hmmm how did i ***** guess the images would be HDR???
- Kruse, on 11/15/2009, -1/+6Enemy care package incoming!
- DoodleMaster, on 11/16/2009, -0/+5Ha that made me think of a senile old man saying "If I wanted to know what the weather was gonna be like today, I'll stick mah head out the window!" not saying that your senile, but that's what it sound like lol.
- ifruit, on 11/15/2009, -2/+7Reminds me of Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man.
- Chairboy, on 11/16/2009, -0/+5Yup:
http://hallert.net/misc/mojavesolo/index.html - MindTrigger, on 11/15/2009, -0/+4This is very near Scaled Composites, the company that makes SpaceShipOne and all kinds of other neat aircraft. They do their test flights out there too, and sometimes open them to the public.
- thegazelle26, on 11/16/2009, -0/+4Agreed.... But annoying sound wasn't in the "beautiful html" story on digg, so thats probably why they didn't include it..
- joejitsu, on 11/15/2009, -0/+4I thought this was behind the Air and Space museum in Washington D.C.
- Caleb83, on 11/15/2009, -0/+4Warning: fanatical post precedes this one.
- Hellahulla, on 11/15/2009, -0/+3Such a perfect place to make your own version of Megaton. Wish I had the know-how ... and cash to do so.
- PopcornDave, on 11/16/2009, -0/+3They did something similar a few years back on Monster House. Took a good part of a 727 (I think) and made a kids playroom out of it. Stuck it in the backyard. The mom was none to happy though.
- Idiggapony, on 11/15/2009, -3/+6Yeah, I'm getting a little tired of that "looks like a painting" HDR look.
- Laminarcissus, on 11/15/2009, -0/+3If I can't also shoot myself there, I'm not nearly as interested.
- hardthinker, on 11/15/2009, -0/+3are they not? Can you share some light on their appearance please?
thanks - bdavidson1030, on 11/16/2009, -0/+3Paintball Heaven!!!!
- Hazelko, on 11/16/2009, -0/+3that place would make a great paintball or airsoft field!
- belfastbiker2, on 11/15/2009, -1/+4A few have rubbished them coz they're HDR. What's the issue with HDR?
- pfhayter, on 11/16/2009, -0/+3Completely agree. It wasn't overdone in my opinion.
- jg1647, on 11/16/2009, -0/+3This must be where the salty bugatti will end up.
- JoeDiggsIt, on 11/16/2009, -0/+3I think its sarcasm... but I'm not sure.
- brockorr, on 11/16/2009, -2/+5HDR overkill....
- killOzap, on 11/16/2009, -0/+2what do you mean? it looks just like... oh I see, it's sarcasm. Nevermind.
- planetexpress, on 11/15/2009, -0/+2Dugg for the inclusion of Virgin Galactic, interesting that it's being kept there. Wonder if they salvage any parts!
- verynegative, on 11/15/2009, -1/+3I want to be there on acid.
