- NsinU8, on 11/13/2007, -1/+43Nice idea but the distorted pics are annoying.
- WestonP, on 11/13/2007, -0/+28"A list of cars that had their design changed drastically over the years."
While the idea is cool, I'm going to have to call BS on this one. A good example of why is the Porsche comparison... the "old" car is a mid-90's 968 (successor to the 944 and 924), where the new car is a recent 911... two totally different cars, with a very different style, and only about 10 years between them. If you want to show old vs new, then it needs to be the same model, or a successor to the earlier model... show a 1960's 911 vs a 2007 911, a 1970's 924 vs a 1990's 968, etc. - silentdragoon, on 11/13/2007, -0/+20I'm saddened to see this poorly executed article, it has some potential, but it is mostly ruined by stretched pictures and poor car choices.
- thewump, on 11/12/2007, -1/+13What retardedness. The LONGEST running car model in history is the Porsche 911, and for an "old porsche" they use the photo of one of the handful of non-911 cars!
- mrbubbleboy, on 11/13/2007, -2/+11I love the new Aston Martin
- Zlatty, on 11/13/2007, -0/+8Wow that was horrible. Such horrible presentation.
- ThatEvilGuy, on 11/13/2007, -0/+8That was a total BS mkay? Let me show you how it should've been done....

Ugh. - deepdiggdude, on 11/13/2007, -0/+5The new BMW's are devoid of personality. What a shame. The new Rolls looks like a bank vault.
- lcarsdeveloper, on 11/13/2007, -0/+4Try this one - http://bbhosts.net/files/car_evolution.htm
(I was going to resize them all but they still looked blurry, so I just made them original size) - lcarsdeveloper, on 11/13/2007, -1/+5Mirror WITHOUT the ugly squashed pics: http://bbhosts.net/files/car_evolution.htm
- dotlizard, on 11/13/2007, -1/+5but the Mini limo was kinda cool ... oh wait.
- ShuttleDisaster, on 11/12/2007, -0/+3what a joke. why are people digging this?
- diggerphelps, on 11/13/2007, -3/+6What? Cars evolved? But a man with a banana told me that they were just "created."
- smurfz, on 11/13/2007, -3/+5That old BMW is awesome =]
- imakecoasters, on 11/12/2007, -0/+2Those old cars were much more square.
- waluum, on 11/12/2007, -0/+2This list is bull.
Half of the "Old" models were the crappiest ones available at the time. The BMW, for example (think M5). And the Porsche (think 911).
And the contrast of years between the Jaguar and Hummer (and others on there as well, I'm sure) is pretty significant.
Although entertaining, it's quite inaccurate. - temugen, on 11/13/2007, -0/+2I second that. Bring back the Countach!
- inactive, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2This is the ***** thing I've seen on Digg for a long, long time. I'm not huge into sports cars, but I am completely offended by the ridiculousness of this article. Why do you guys digg this crap?
- davewashere, on 11/12/2007, -0/+2My thoughts exactly. The Porsche 911 is the official name of the top Porsche model, and the modern picture they used was for the most recent Type of the 911 line. For the old picture they chose one of the only Porsche models that was not part of the 911 line or designed to look like the 911 line. Even the Cayenne SUV shares some design elements with the 911. It's like they went out of their way to show they don't know much about cars.
- verstohlen, on 11/13/2007, -0/+2Cars don't evolve. It's intelligent design!
- darlyn, on 11/13/2007, -0/+2Except for the Ferrari and Mini, newer cars are looking uglier every year. The over-sized front ends are annoying.
- mickcn, on 11/13/2007, -1/+3Buried.....They forget 69' Camaro to 09' Camaro.
- hexen, on 11/12/2007, -0/+2Totally agree - a real half-assed article. Low quality pictures, with no insight into car design at all! I don't think the creator could have put less effort in if he'd tried. The best bit is the subheading "A must see for the car fans" - that's a joke right?!
- litolist, on 11/13/2007, -0/+2Yeah, the Countach was the *****. I loved the wheels with the 5 big holes in them.
- halfgook, on 11/13/2007, -0/+1horribly executed. it would have been better if the models actually matched. also, perhaps include each generation so we could see how they evolved over time and see each transition from one body to the next.
- Seaborgium106, on 11/12/2007, -1/+2Anyone else look at the "Old Honda" picture and mistake it for their own car?
- zapperdude60, on 11/12/2007, -0/+1that jag will never be made. there should be a pic of the xf
- princessToBe, on 11/13/2007, -0/+1Hey thats my car!! i love my mini but doesn't do to well during the winter months
- mickcn, on 11/12/2007, -0/+1I just love the new camaro. Dont much give a ***** about the rest. Excluding Porsche.
- lcarsdeveloper, on 11/12/2007, -0/+1Try this one instead - http://bbhosts.net/files/car_evolution.htm
- drunkenoaf, on 11/12/2007, -0/+1He's comparing a Porsche 928 with a new 911. Perhaps comparing the old 911 and the new 911 would have been better.
- Kallius, on 11/13/2007, -1/+2Yet the internal combustion engine has changed very little over that same period of time.
- Buffster, on 11/13/2007, -0/+1Nothing like the Old jaguar XJ6
- DaleoftheUK, on 11/12/2007, -0/+1Reading through it became melodic. Old _______ new ________ , Old _________ New ________ ...etc.
- kingvik, on 11/13/2007, -0/+1The new Honda looks sweet.
- specialk9991, on 11/13/2007, -0/+1I was so excited by the headline of this article. Then i clicked on the link. Now I'm sad. That had nothing to do with the evolution of auto design. It was a few squished, low-quality, pics representing several cars that had nothing in common but manufacturer. I mean, come on, A Porsche 968 and a new 911?
- DMan928, on 11/12/2007, -0/+1I was going to say the exact same thing. dugg
- waluum, on 11/12/2007, -0/+1It's too bad they ended production of the Hummer H1 (the "Old Hummer" in this article). I preferred it over the H2 and H3 - unfortunately it cost about twice as much as the others. Regardless, one would still have to be an idiot to buy a Hummer (or a huge truck, for that matter) for modern roads, unless they spend most of their time in it off-road.
- AMSRay, on 11/12/2007, -0/+1That was much better, I just wished you had gone back to the 1950's to begin. I guess it would be hard to find a photo of one from that period that had similar color and shadowing to match the newer pictures.
- amoro99, on 11/12/2007, -1/+1Sure it has. It has become less efficient.
- CodePoet82, on 11/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, the 968 was a poor choice for the 'old Porsche', it could be at most 15 years old. A 356 coupe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_356) would have been a much better choice.
- xsni, on 11/12/2007, -0/+0Essentially its just a transition from stark, geometric looks to sleek, aerodynamic looks. Some of those cars are mighty pretty though. ^_^
- nfs480, on 11/13/2007, -0/+0I actually have that exact old Honda. That color even. Best car i've ever owned.
- GuacamoleSan, on 11/13/2007, -7/+6The old Lamborghini is wayyy more slick than the new one.
- TravelTom, on 11/13/2007, -1/+0wow new mercedes looks really great!
- b5c9, on 11/13/2007, -1/+0Yup, like mickcn said the Camaro was missed along with the Mustang and Corvette. Probably more anyone?
- alchemist27, on 11/13/2007, -1/+0The Porsche one was stupid. They compared a 968(could be wrong) with a 997 turbo..they are completely different models...
EDIT: it seems this has already been pointed out, sorry for the repetition. - cannarymburns, on 11/12/2007, -2/+0jeez, whats with the car selection... hummer and toyota?? ugly back then, ugly now. and whats with comparing different models?
- b5c9, on 11/12/2007, -2/+0Crazy thing is some of the old cars get better gas mileage than the new ones.
