- roguescout, on 11/29/2007, -1/+95So Eve had double-jointed knees and liked taking it reverse cowgirl?
Nice... - egonSchiele, on 11/29/2007, -8/+92this is lame.
- positron, on 11/29/2007, -1/+53Dugg, because occultists with too much time on their hands are good entertainment.
- RichLatherX23, on 11/29/2007, -0/+50So let me get this straight--if you spin these paintings backwards, they play Satanic messages?
- chris9902, on 11/29/2007, -0/+38the second pic looks like Darth Vader with a huge ball sack.
- paperfrog, on 11/29/2007, -2/+38So how much of this is coincidence -- and how much is evidence of a commissioned artist's subversiveness?
- dgh1973, on 11/29/2007, -0/+36You could do silly stuff like this with DOZENS of pieces of art and the results would be just as easy to misinterpret. Sure, Da Vinci liked to write his notes backwards so that they could be read with a mirror, but does that really mean we should hold mirrors up to all of his works of art, desperately trying to find something that could be meaningful? Please... this is reaching at best. No scholar in their right mind is going to say definitively that these "mirror" images are the true intent of the paintings, you can do crap like this with your own face and see demons, it's just the nature of things.
Lame.
- Icupnimpn2, on 11/29/2007, -2/+35I think that's Judge Dredd in Mona Lisa's shoulder.
- ohsin, on 11/29/2007, -0/+32Darth Vader..?
- themarq, on 11/29/2007, -0/+30It was waaaaay funnier when MAD Magazine did it.
- natdowner, on 11/29/2007, -5/+34Those are pretty freaky.. but I can't help but wonder, is it really a hidden message when you have to put a mirror up to the painting? Like, couldn't almost any picture be considered to have a 'hidden message' because when I split it with a mirror, it creates another image? Still cool tho...
- gmiley, on 11/29/2007, -0/+26Seriously, I may just do this for the fun of it, but I would probably put money on that if you name any painting, I can find some way to distort it to have a "secret face" appear... The human mind searches for patterns in everything we look at, it's why we see clouds shaped like dogs and submarines, and Jesus or Elvis in burnt toast.
- sheagunther42, on 11/29/2007, -3/+27Proof they were tripping out on ether
- jon30041, on 11/29/2007, -0/+19I agree, a lot of it seems to be a stretch. The Holy Grail thing and the Mona Lisa one stand out to me as huge leaps and seeing what you want to see.
- sheagunther42, on 11/29/2007, -2/+19For some reason the first one makes me think of Vigo the Carpathian, the creepy evil spirit in the painting from Ghost Busters 2
- thcobbs, on 11/29/2007, -1/+16Mary gave good helmet?
- jamdogg, on 11/29/2007, -1/+15This reminds me of those ink-blot tests used by psychologists.
- heythisismyname, on 11/29/2007, -2/+15I call shenanigans
- sheagunther42, on 11/29/2007, -0/+13They got freaky back in the day.
- tokyomonster, on 11/29/2007, -0/+12The first one looks like Darth Vader....I wonder what he was trying to say...
- Chrisfromdevon, on 11/29/2007, -1/+12not an eloquent observation, but it is correct. lame lame lame
- shieldsmw, on 11/29/2007, -0/+11Dude! Da Vinci definitely hid images in his art. And they definitely hid an image of the world trade center in flames on the $20 bill. And I definitely saw Jesus in my cereal this morning.
- pieinthesky, on 11/29/2007, -0/+11Paul is dead.
- FutureSandwhich, on 11/29/2007, -1/+11Ridiculous and stupid
- flibz, on 11/29/2007, -1/+9Yup. Freud would have a field day with the cult of the pervy mirror!
- geoken, on 11/29/2007, -1/+9Her feet were also the wrong way around.
- markp93, on 11/29/2007, -0/+7St. Peter was a rabbit!
- heartcoldfusion, on 11/29/2007, -2/+9Except the Freemasons didn't come into existence until about 85 years after Leonardo's death.
- ICANSTANDIT, on 11/29/2007, -4/+11It just shows to go ya how much BS you can create out of nothing. I heard that the Brooklyn Bridge is up for sale again if anybody is interested?
- SpaceParanoids, on 11/29/2007, -1/+7"So how much of this is coincidence -- and how much is evidence of a commissioned artist's subversiveness?"
Let me break it down for you:
Coincidence: 100%
Actual Hidden Images: 0%
This is really stupid beyond comprehension. - machambi, on 11/29/2007, -2/+8thats a load of it ...
- andrewsavage, on 11/29/2007, -0/+6No, they play recipes for lentil soup.
- hustl3, on 11/29/2007, -1/+7That leprechaun is on acid!
- Bridea, on 11/29/2007, -0/+5yeah I'm looking for the Holy Grail thing and I'm just not seeing it.
- otis12, on 11/29/2007, -1/+6And I thought I was weird
- baalzebub, on 11/29/2007, -0/+5i heard a rumor there is a hidden image on the inside-back cover of every Mad Magazine ever printed if you fold it correctly...
- halligan00, on 11/29/2007, -0/+5Nah. maybe true in his time, no longer true. It'd be more like referring to Jesus Christ as 'Christ' or Peter O'Toole as "O'Toole", Rebecca DeMornay as "DeMornay".
- Klarth, on 11/29/2007, -0/+4Rorschach
- uptwolait, on 11/29/2007, -0/+4or Andy Dick as.....
- inactive, on 11/29/2007, -0/+4True, but it's said the Freemasons trace their heritage all the way back to the stonemasons that designed (and helped build) the pyramids.
But who knows? I don't. I'm not a Freemason.
>_> - mllawso, on 11/29/2007, -0/+4How is this any different than the "W.T.C" in the five dollar bill.
"If you ignore this part, and mirror this part, and then flip it upside down, it kinda resembles this." - RichStevenson, on 11/29/2007, -2/+5The last one is the Flying Spaghetti Monster!
- CJinNC, on 11/29/2007, -1/+4Dammit, Beavis I thought you said this was cool
- mr.hostility, on 11/29/2007, -0/+3Hardly have I seen a bigger crock of *****. I can't believe they have a few books published. None of the images look like anything. Put a mirror by anything like that, and you get a strange image that you can find anything in if you look hard enough.
- Mehster, on 11/29/2007, -0/+3Damn you!! Now the song will be in my head all day long!
- teqonix, on 11/29/2007, -0/+2Looking at old art for demonic or hidden images must be the new 'play the song backwards and see who's worshipping the devil' thing.
Still stupid. - raynar, on 11/29/2007, -2/+4If you take a dollar bill, fold it in half, then photoshop it, it looks like...a dollar.
- inactive, on 11/29/2007, -0/+2ah i thought the bottom one was baphomet for some reason
