Brad Burns - CEO Ziosys - xsuite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3“A penny saved is twopence dear.”
twopence? wtf?
After doing a search, the proper plural form of 'penny' is 'pence'. Im so going to use that tomorrow. - trghpy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Uncle scrooge.
- skytimelapse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is some of the best damn advice one can give. Thanks, Ben.

(sorry for comment abuse) - neuromute, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2No one... it's a misquote of what Franklin actually said.
- tribality, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Here are some Ben Franklin quotes in a digglike social quotes site...

I like this one "Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead." - PlaidPhantom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"A penny saved is twopence dear" sounds more like it means that money saved is extra precious to the saver. Almost seems more like a warning against hoarding Scrooge-like than it does advice to save.
- Swishkid44, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"If you will not hear reason she'll surely wrap your knuckles."
BF - nullcodes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Since so many people think that his saying about liberty and security is crock ...let's just say I don't expect to be flooded with success stories of online businesses any time soon*.
*Not because his advice is bad, but because few will heed it. - eleventybillion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The phrase "A penny saved is a penny earned" means that saving a penny can earn you a second. Not that the act of saving = the act of earning, while "A penny saved is twopence dear" says the same thing, but without hinting at the penny as an object that can bring in more money.
Therefore, the two phrases are analogous, and I suspect the former to be a more modern rendition of the latter. - WikiEasy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Stop the apologizing. Nobody cares and it's not going to prevent your comment from getting buried.
- franchisepick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Another good post from copyblogger.
Reminds me of another good quote: ""People will accept your ideas much more readily if you tell them Benjamin Franklin said it first." - David H. Comins, somebody nobody has ever heard of - tinfog, on 12/13/2008, -0/+0The more important in not "SAVED" , but "INVESTMENT".
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1"6. “Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain and most fools do.”"
OMFG, what a f*ing nub, I would pwn his sister, THIS IS SPARTAAAAA!! - quadszilla, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Who did first say "a penny saved is a penny earned"?
