- griz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+40Get rid of the numbers so that everyone needs to have a bar code reader to tell what time it is.
Everyone should carry a barcode reader at all times anyhow. You never know when you might need identify that person sitting next to you.
"Excuse me sir, can I see your arm"
BEEP!
"HEY JOHN!! I thought you looked familiar. How long has it been??" - spinchange, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19this would be cool as an LCD-type wall clock display (for the grocer or the garden variety RFID / bar code geek)
- SuperCUBE, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20They should use this at grocery stores.
- richdan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1611:36:24 = a 4 pack of Oreos! Coool!
- trenchMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Oh good the characters are blury for you too... I figured it was just the fact I started drinking a little earlier than usual today.
- davidlow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14I love this idea! I would buy it as a wall clock, a Mac Widget, a screen saver, whatever.
- TequilaCollins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Now, the ultimate geek would have this as a wall clock without the numbers on the bottom, because they already know how to read barcode.

Make a widget. It's not hard. Here's a getting started guide:

- YouKnowWho, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Here's a mac dashboard widget of this clock
http://www.digg.com/apple/Bar_Code_Clock_The_OSX_Dashboard_Widget_Edition - NinjaBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That is hypnotic....zzzzzzz
- crweaks23, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@robo
It's not so much the quality of the text, but the blur effect. I agree the blocky, pixelated numbers are intended, but the blur surrounding them (especially in the "jumbo" view) is not. That being said, I'm fine with it the way it is. Pretty cool, very original. - chronobyte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Neat! Someone oughta make a wristwatch off of this! I'd totally buy it
- nothing7899, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4@griz
You don't need a bar code reader. Just learn how to read and decipher bar codes on your own!
Here's the how to:
http://www.wikihow.com/Read-12-Digit-UPC-Barcodes - cjh79, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2He's got an AM/PM thing going here. Hence the "PM" surrounding the numbers...
- Caleb83, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This guy is obsessed with UPC codes. Browse his site, he has flip books comprised of bar codes that resemble famous figures (Andy Warhol, Marylin Monroe, Elvis, Jesus, etc). Pretty cool clock, though
- jordan314, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I want to see a checksum change every second at the end!
- antongranik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very nice! I like it! :)
- newevilmind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Is there a way to change it from am to pm?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice. If this person make this into an OSX widget I'd be most appreciative.
- threethirty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You could make a all clock out of this easily, just take an old laptop reverse the screen and hang on the wall. The same steps to make a Digital PIcture Frame
- rasterbator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Can you make this into an extension for Wordpress, so people can add to their blogs?
- condormcs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1good observation
- condormcs, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2how about u actually make the widget and then send me the link : )
- jdonne70, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Very clever. Hate to be a nitpicker, but isn't it 12 hours off? 0200 is 2a.m.; 1400 is 2p.m. Or am I in the wrong time zone?
- doofusoftheday, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Pretty cool.
- stevecole, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I hope your joke isn't too clever for people to "get". You deserve diggs.
- robcornelius, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2you really don't get it do you... bar codes are meant to have terrible quality text.
- cleverhanz, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2I thought it would be lame when I read that it was a javascript thing and not an actual table clock, but after looking at it for a few seconds it is really quite hypnotic.
- josegutz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Barcodes are taking over!!!
OH Hell! - FastZ, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Clever.
- austindkelly, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Anti-alising i think he is using images for the numbers, either way its a simple fix.
- Antonotron, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1.png files!
great antialiasing and still extremely modest file sizes! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -17/+10@nick
WTF. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -18/+1nsfw.. http://gallery.phillyburbs.com/photos/603/15/346x600.aspx
look at the junk in that trunk - pandapoo, on 10/12/2007, -24/+3I want this as a mac app! :D
- nick2354, on 10/12/2007, -44/+3mac kicks ass.
