- fadeout, on 11/07/2007, -0/+35Germans don't celebrate Halloween, they get to dress like idiots for carnival.
- quami16, on 10/24/2007, -1/+28Hold on. Is that ALF!? Dugg.
- ildottore, on 10/23/2007, -1/+27Dressing up as a Nazi would get you arrested in Germany.
- DiscoStu101, on 10/23/2007, -1/+24He's not joking. It's an actual crime to dress up in Nazi regalia in Germany. There's massive fines and lengthy jail terms.
- dunnylovehun, on 10/23/2007, -0/+20I didn't think they'd be able to top the human cellphone for sheer German...ness but the last page is classic.
- pimpbot1979, on 10/23/2007, -1/+20Showing your ballsack is soooo German.
- Nogger, on 10/23/2007, -0/+18I heard it is a quite popular costume amongst British heirs.
- hollywoodprince, on 10/23/2007, -4/+18I almost choked on page three.
- 68024, on 10/24/2007, -0/+12There are several inaccuracies here. First off as already has been said, Germans don't celebrate Halloween, these are Carnival costumes. Secondly, #8 on page 3 is not a Carnival costume. It is a 'Zwarte Piet' from Holland - a helper of St. Nicolas.
- 68024, on 10/23/2007, -0/+11That's because they don't. These are carnival costumes, not Halloween.
- clemensmitc, on 11/07/2007, -0/+8this article is so inaccurate -.-
1) we (germans) do not celebrate helloween, we celebrate carneval
2) thats not david hasselhoff, it should be a (bad) german comedian called atze schröder ( http://www.atzeschroeder.de/ )
3) alf is totally dead in gemany!
4) dont judge a country by 1 incredibly stupid website!
5) germans do ***** with teddy bears except to cuddle with them -.-
6) the guy on page 3 is more probably a traditional anciant german guard than robin hood...
cant argue with the mobil device costum though.. i wear mine right in this very moment - carl25, on 10/23/2007, -0/+8that's pedo bear
- juckman, on 10/23/2007, -1/+8Hey, some of their top # lists aren't that bad... I think I'm gonna get dugg down!
- Scheissen, on 10/23/2007, -1/+6Kids in Germany don't go trick-or-treating but people still dress up for parties.
- Flamekebab, on 10/23/2007, -2/+7I don't really get it.. Why are these unsettling or funny?
- Hobofuzz, on 10/23/2007, -0/+5*****.
Blackface wasn't in existence when Zwarte Piet was created. - Otnip, on 10/23/2007, -3/+7I laughed so so hard at this.
Thank you for the article. I don't mind non-news articles on Digg as long as I laugh my ass off - CasaMan, on 10/23/2007, -0/+4http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zwarte_Piet
- Trenchbroom, on 10/23/2007, -0/+3Correct. See them here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zwarte_Piet - DracoFlameus, on 10/23/2007, -0/+3Fortunately.
- DracoFlameus, on 10/23/2007, -0/+3german halloween costumes... oh my god... did they do ANY research whatsoever?
doesn't seem so... buried - inaccurate - adamsacres, on 10/23/2007, -2/+5I thought Alf was dead. Glad to see he is alive and well in Germany.
- Flamekebab, on 10/23/2007, -1/+4I don't find any of them overly unsettling. The black-face one is a little distasteful, but not unsettling.
As for funny, well, erm, how are they funny? They're just carnival costumes.. - hackop, on 10/23/2007, -1/+4I'm going out on a limb and guessing you've never actually been to Germany... They don't have shelves in their toilets. Though what you're referring to was, afaik, during the wartime era to make sure everything looked OK and wasn't filled with blood or anything else out of the ordinary. My German friend had no idea about them either and had to look it up, and I can assure you that during my time in Germany, the toilets looked pretty much like they do here in America.
- 68024, on 10/23/2007, -0/+3Too bad it's neither a Carnival costume nor a Halloween one. It's 'Zwarte Piet', St Nicolas's helper, from the Netherlands.
- ruley, on 10/23/2007, -2/+5So black-face is cool in Germany?
- Mackofalltrades, on 10/23/2007, -0/+3Where can I buy that evil Bear.
- iffypop, on 10/27/2007, -0/+3Where's Technoviking?
- Caps, on 10/23/2007, -0/+3It's Alf and he's back! In pog form! I mean halloween-costume form!
- unitethenations, on 10/23/2007, -0/+2Either way? Doesn't that imply that it's wonderful because:
(a) No black people
(b) No AS or JJ
(a implies b...)
I know you may be joking, and everyone wishes for (b) but that's so harsh. - dpcdomino, on 10/23/2007, -0/+2Frogs are better fire prevention spokespersons.
- jjremy, on 10/27/2007, -2/+45) germans do ***** with teddy bears except to cuddle with them -.-
wait, what? - caffeinepills, on 10/23/2007, -1/+3Ditto, and I'm alone and sober.
Two thumbs up. - l00s3r, on 10/23/2007, -3/+5I thought only America celebrated Hallmark® holidays?
- chicoer2001, on 10/23/2007, -0/+2The indian with the peace pipe's face looks like Arnold Schwartzenegger.
- TekTrixter, on 11/02/2007, -0/+2That made me laugh so hard that now I've got to clean coffee out of my keyboard and off my monitor...
- Wahngrok, on 10/23/2007, -0/+2Inaccurate in so many ways. That's not even a Hasselhoff costume but supposed to be a likeness of a comedian called "Atze Schröder".
- 68024, on 10/23/2007, -0/+1No you don't. Halloween themes are heavily leaning to horror themes. No such thing with carnival.
- inactive, on 10/23/2007, -0/+1Double the link?
- asauterChicago, on 10/23/2007, -0/+1whoops...
- swede66, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1toddler costume
http://toddlercostume.net - 3leggedHorse, on 10/23/2007, -0/+1 The dude in the mask with the cross on it looks like some dodgy SS scientist, Or he is out of Hostel 2.
- datastorageguy, on 10/23/2007, -0/+1They make up for it by populating science text books for us all to enjoy.
- ItsMyWii, on 10/23/2007, -0/+1"Here’s the great emancipator, who, judging by his expression, is scheming up ways to emancipate children from their clothes." AAAHAHAHA!!
- asauterChicago, on 10/23/2007, -1/+2If you're referring to Halloween, it's actually it's a Celtic holiday: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halloween http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halloween
- Fracture98, on 10/23/2007, -1/+2Dradle, dradle, dradle. I made you out of clay.
Dradle, dradle, dradle. I'm going to eat your liver with a nice Chianti. - asauterChicago, on 10/23/2007, -2/+3Probably sleeping with your mom, your sister, your girlfriend, your ex-girlfriend, the girl you masturbate to in your fantasies, all at the same time to intense German techno, while bench pressing 600 pounds...
- jmpeagle, on 10/23/2007, -1/+2picture 8 on page 3 is easily the best one and most offensive
- gudnbluts, on 10/23/2007, -0/+1I've definitely seen that kind of bog (where you're dumping on the porcelain, then the flush washes it off) many times in Europe. Maybe more in France though. I don't really remember which countries have which kind of toilets. It's not really high on my sightseeing agenda.
