- trucanadian, on 06/02/2009, -3/+37What about the creationist museums?
- stereosaurus, on 06/02/2009, -0/+22More accurate title:
11 strange museums in the U.S. and one that was outsourced to India. - MensFitness, on 06/01/2009, -0/+18The Mutter Museum has the world's largest colon...
- rockon4life45, on 06/02/2009, -1/+15I love how the title is "....in the US" and 3 is in India.
- rabidjester, on 06/02/2009, -1/+9Please tell me there isn't more than one...
- penguinofspades, on 06/02/2009, -1/+9i didnt know New Delhi was in the us. globalization is getting outta hand...
- iheartwurdz, on 06/01/2009, -0/+6i really enjoy how arbitrary life is sometimes
- Rain12913, on 06/02/2009, -0/+6I was at #1 (The Museum of Bad Art in Dedham, MA) last week. It's in the basement of a local movie theater and you have to walk through it to get to the bathroom, which is the only reason I saw it. The museum itself consists of a room that can't be more than 12 x 12 ft. and there are only about 10 paintings on the walls, two or three of them somewhat clever and the rest pretty boring. There is no door on the men's room so the museum smells like piss. It really lives up to its name.
- simeonb, on 06/02/2009, -0/+6No Museum of Jurassic Technology in Culver City? That place was made for a list like this.
- hawkspur, on 06/02/2009, -0/+6I bet they weren't including on this list because they aren't actually museums, more like stupid parks.
- Goph09, on 06/02/2009, -0/+5My dad owns/operates an antique popcorn machine museum (early 1900s machines)
I have no idea what I'm going to do with all those machines when they're passed down to me.. - haikuFU, on 06/02/2009, -0/+5They left out that Icelandic Phallic Museum in Reykjavik, attached to Hotel Fron. I was there, but it wasn't open when I was actually around the hotel. I was kinda bummed out. Not that I like penises or anything.
I've also been to the Museum of Questionable Medical Devices in Minneapolis. That place is pretty entertaining, I think we spent a couple of hours there. On the counter when you walk in, they have these old machines you put a nickel in and then grab the handles for some shock therapy. It ***** hurts. Bad. They lady behind the counter laughed at me, and said "you should see old people do it, some of them cry." - Biggsy, on 06/02/2009, -0/+5Not necessarily strange as much as why, the Dan Quayle Museum in Huntington, IN:
http://www.quaylemuseum.org/ - kooredaan, on 06/02/2009, -0/+4Uhh editor? Proof reader?
- johndatserakis, on 06/02/2009, -0/+4you should start a movie theater or something...I don't know, or become the new Orville Redenbacher.
- randypanda, on 06/02/2009, -0/+3They put it on one page...
But there's like nothing on it. - kahoona1, on 06/02/2009, -0/+3Surprised the JELLO museum didn't make the list.
- CaptainPanda, on 06/02/2009, -0/+3The SPAM Museum should have been on that list. :( http://www.spam.com/games/Museum/default.aspx
- LonelyTylenoL, on 06/02/2009, -0/+3They also have a woman who's dead body went through the process of saponification and became soap. Not to mention that they also have books bound in human leather and deformed dead babies in jars.
- hardcrocodile, on 06/02/2009, -0/+3Seriously! How can a museum with an exhibit dedicated to trailer park culture, and another documenting all of the crazy letters and theories random people sent to the mount wilson observatory in the 1920s not be on this list?
For those who haven't been: http://www.mjt.org - BoredDigger, on 06/02/2009, -0/+3There is more than one.
- jcounterman, on 06/02/2009, -0/+3They left out the National Museum of Funeral History in Houston, where you can see a coffin shaped like a chicken.
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1302/1394372049_d79 ... - cyclopssmiley, on 06/02/2009, -0/+2Pretty ***** done post. They could have at least provided pictures rather then blocks of text.
- superkendall, on 06/02/2009, -0/+2That's the lamest list I've ever seen. I've seen a hundred museums weirder, like the Hammer Museum in Skagway Alaska (hey, at least it's IN THE US unlike the museum in India)...
- fapfaptrain, on 06/02/2009, -0/+2# 5...
The largest nickel, and the largest coin in the world is in Sudbury, Ontario, not San Antonio.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Nickel - burningrobot, on 06/02/2009, -0/+2No pics?
- kate0spencer, on 06/02/2009, -0/+2I think they just want to include India on the list..
or they're real target is to expose India's museums.. but it won't be catchy..
it could have been better if they researched the "12 strangest museums in the world!"
there, they could include India.. - nkornelis, on 06/02/2009, -0/+2I scanned the list specifically looking for the Museum of Jurassic Technology. I'm digging your comment, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to bury the list for this oversight.
- zenthax, on 06/02/2009, -0/+2@BoredDigger
Oh Noez! - tidu, on 06/02/2009, -0/+2Weirdest place in the world, but it is so interesting
- novenator, on 06/01/2009, -1/+3It's hard to top the History of Sex museum in the Netherlands
- kooredaan, on 06/02/2009, -1/+2I was thinking just that. How can that not make the list?
@rabidjester - I think there is only one official one. - KarenRice, on 06/02/2009, -0/+1I want a Dan Quayle poster. Maybe if I give a bunch of them to my daughter she'll take the Jonas Bros off her wall....
- comeanon, on 06/02/2009, -0/+1what a jewel of a comment. thanks.
- njunderground, on 06/02/2009, -0/+1New York's sex museum is another crazy one.
- jtotheoe, on 06/02/2009, -0/+1ditto to nkornelis. that place is hands down the strangest museum on earth. i wouldnt even be able to begin to describe some of the things there. the founder won a macarthur genius grant for the museum, that should speak for itself.
- WootZoot, on 06/02/2009, -0/+1What about the museum of victorian dolls?
- schalicto, on 06/02/2009, -0/+1Sadly the Museum of Questionable Medical Devices in Minneapolis has been closed for over 5 years, a few of their larger fixtures are on display at the Saint Paul Science Museum, but it pails in comparison to what the museum proper was.
- Falldog, on 06/02/2009, -0/+1The Mutter is a must stop for anyone visiting Philly. It's rather small so you could spend a morning or all afternoon there without feeling like you missed something or wasted your day at one place.
- Mipit, on 06/02/2009, -0/+1Nickel city Represent!
- haxyo, on 06/02/2009, -0/+113. Creation Museum
- njunderground, on 06/02/2009, -0/+1I thought John Wayne had the world's largest colon
- Junior612, on 06/02/2009, -0/+1National Bottle Museum
http://www.nationalbottlemuseum.org/nationalbottle ... - beloitpiper, on 06/02/2009, -0/+1The Mustard Museum
http://www.mustardweb.com/ - kerouac906, on 06/02/2009, -0/+1I've been to about half of these. Which means my life is only about 1/2 complete...
- ftc08, on 06/02/2009, -0/+1Science Museum in St. Paul has some quack devices too, but last time I went nothing to shock the ***** out of you.
- NataliaBrady, on 06/02/2009, -0/+0theres a museum of sex in NYC too, thats kind of strange...
