- ICSU, on 10/11/2007, -6/+55spider pig?
- driftwood07, on 10/11/2007, -1/+37So was the pig 90lbs or 200lbs ?
- iceman0113, on 10/11/2007, -5/+35mmm, bacon
- jeffiek, on 10/11/2007, -9/+30Which pig?
- masterJDK, on 10/10/2007, -1/+21I bet this little piggie wishes he would have stayed home.
- jam1n, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20FTA: "The sheriff's office estimated that the pig weighed close to two hundred pounds, while the family estimated ninety pounds."
lol. - Ajajadude, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18When police come across injured animals in the road, they can shoot them.
We once had a deer caught in our backyard (jumped our fence and couldn't get back out), so when the cop showed up, he offered to shoot the deer. Suffice to say, we didn't go for that and the cop ended up using our hose to spray it with water to drive it out the gate. - courtarro, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17More importantly (I say), was the comment true that the pig had no collar? If your pet pig has no collar and gets out running around the "neighborhood", how are the authorities supposed to know it's domesticated?
- qtychr, on 10/10/2007, -7/+22As much as I hate cops, and I do, this article does not really paint the cop as a bad guy.
They were called out to see a wild pig running around a person's yard. It had no collar. It supposedly charged the officers a few times. They tried to get in touch with the animal services with no luck. They debated for 2 hours on what to do, then they shot it.
Its not like the cop just walked up to the guys house and shot the pig dead.
Of course this is all based on the article and it could be painting the cop in a good light but from what I read, I'd say the cop did the right thing. - TheTaoOfBill, on 10/10/2007, -5/+18I don't see what the big deal is. If you don't want your pet to get shot don't let it roam the neighborhood causing mischief. That goes for any pet. Especially ones that can be dangerous to other people. And if it is something that you are pretty sure can be safe to let outside without causing trouble then at least put a collar of some sort on it.
- Ajajadude, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14Next time I'm living back east and a deer is caught in my yard, scared, feeling cornered, pissed off (especially after losing part of its antler), and kicking at us, I'll let you deal with it.
Cops in that town have nothing better to do, so there's no point in risking my neck when my tax dollars are paying that guy to do it for me. - gotamd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10As much as it would be easy to blame the cops for this one, the family had let their pig out and go into another person's property. It was obviously there for a long time and the family wasn't looking for it. I doubt that shooting it was necessary, but I don't think the cops are the only people at fault here.
- Mothrog, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13Uh, let's see, the pig was causing damage to someone's property, was not identified in any way as a pet, and was charging people. Sounds like the cop was using common sense to me, as opposed to the retards that hadn't made any attempt to identify their pet as a pet.
- Battleloser, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12Should have had him shoot it, venison is tasty.
- Burento, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10It is a Simpsons thing.. Watch the new movie trailer.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -12/+21You called the cops because of a deer?!?!? LMFAO. You pussy! Its a f*kin DEER! I used to ride em' on my uncles farm when i was a kid.
- ezkiel, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9It was because it was black.
- BlackCow, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9I'm sorry we failed to entertain you, please forgive us and accept our apologies, we will not fail again.
- psylence, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9Aww, you're adorable. Reading the article shows they waited 2 hours, called the DNR, and the pig was charging at them. If a cop finds a hostile animal, they'll shoot it, and if the owner comes at them, they'll shoot you too. I recommend you try it and do the world a favor.
- jasg, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Spider Pig Spider Pig, does whatever spider pig does.. haha !!
- nepawoods, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9"We once had a deer caught in our backyard (jumped our fence and couldn't get back out), so when the cop showed up, he offered to shoot the deer."
Would you get to keep the meat? - genetic, on 10/11/2007, -16/+21are cops allowed to kill animals? shouldn't he have called someone with a brain
- miriclaire, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5And away from its home, scoping gardens for two hours>
- zenlunatic, on 10/11/2007, -6/+10If you (pig owners/journalists) can't tell the difference between 90 and 200 pounds in a small animal like a dog or a pig, you should call the cops and have them come to shoot you.
- DangerCollie, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I have to side with the cop on this one. If your farm animal is a pet or show animal, put a collar on it. That still won't guarantee it won't have to be put down but they'll at least know it belongs to someone. With an animal like a pig, the neighbors would my first suspicion.
This isn't as bad as the giant pig sold to a private hunting reserve in Alabama and then being tortured to death for three hours by some kid with pistol. - shark615, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Except in winter and there are those damn cedar trees around. Tastes like turpintine
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5I never knew Oprah had tusks!
- Ajajadude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Unfortunately, I'm not the atypical digger: I don't know it all, so how was I supposed to know a deer was just as scared of water coming from a hose as my dog was?
And, no, as I said before, the cops there had nothing better to do: it was rich-white suburbia with a population just over 20k and all the cops did all day was pull people over and write tickets. - JeremyBanks, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4That is one of the most uniquely stupid posts I've seen in this story.
- Lane, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3since when is a pig an "exotic pet." clearly this isnt a city backyard, its in Georga and sounds very much like a farm. If this pig is playing with a 5 year old it has to be docile. If it was a dog I cant see shooting it as an option.
- georgetds, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The very short article, which I am sure we all read... wait, what a dumb assumption. Seriously folks, I know some of the longer articles are boring to read, but this one was what, five paragraphs short paragraphs? Read it first, and then make the jokes or the angry comments. We still don't have all the facts about the whole incident, but at least what is comment on would actually be relevant to the article.
- graemee, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Redneck pigs.
- tywolff, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2*Sniffle* Why do you have to be *sniffle* so delicious?! *sniffle* Why?!
- Mothrog, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4RTFA.
"Authorities also tried to call the Department of Natural Resources for help during the incident. "
They tried. They were there for 2 hours trying to decide what to do. They exercised the best option available to them. Shut the ***** up. - minorthreat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2rtfa?
- JeremyBanks, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I don't suppose you decided to read the article? No, too hard?
- xShad0w, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1indeed
- RST1123, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I shot the sheriff but I didn't kill the pig.
- raybury, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3You have two kids, one of whom is pre-school age and the other probably out of school for the summer. You have an exotic pet. You don't keep the pet in your yard. You don't keep a collar on your pet (probably meaning you haven't licensed it properly). You don't tell your new neighbors about your exotic pet. You don't bother wondering where the possibly unlicensed, uncollared, unknown, unrestrained, tusk-equipped exotic pet is for two hours.
Yep, it's the cops' fault. Wait, no, BushRoveCheneyHalliburtonAshcroftRumsfeldWalmart did it! - nepawoods, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I can properly prepare and butcher it myself if I find it in my yard. That way it's free, and I know it's fresh.
- thenewmadmax, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1lol south park
- miriclaire, on 10/10/2007, -4/+5You couldn't hose the deer yourself? My God--I hope there's no criminals in your town. This should go in the "stupid reasons people call police" category.

Bettwe video of a different cop shooting himself. - Tweekster, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2OMG you are clearly retarded.
or high, or more than likely, high and retarded - tehpwnrate, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4Well, if there's a huge ass pig with tusks and no collar for 2 hours messing with someone's yard, I see no problem with shooting it. I'll bet that cop is smarter than you, judging by your comment.
What's the alternative? They could have left it there for longer and been in trouble for not dealing with the pig. - Tweekster, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2OMG you are clearly retarded.
or high, or more than likely, high and retarded - DooM, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Is that a rhetorical question..?
- raybury, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Since when? As long as I've been around. RTA; it sounds like this happened in a subdivision. And again, no clear sign it WAS a family pet, and it was threatening. Pets should be controlled or tagged or both.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Rosie is back !!!
