- smashblu, on 04/14/2009, -7/+136How is this offensive? ***** pussies are too sensitive. My friends make jewish jokes in front of me all the time. We also make fun of our asian friend and our black friend and our white friend. Stereotypes are funny because they're extreme and not true. We know all Texans aren't cowboys and all Mexicans aren't luchadors but it makes us laugh anyway. We should be celebrating diversity and the best way to do that is by making jokes since everyone likes to laugh.
Am I wrong? Is it better to just ignore everyone's skin color? The only way we will truly be equals is if we put everyones's differences out in the open so they can be accepted. - camelseye, on 04/14/2009, -1/+68Stereotypes work for humor. My Polish step-grandpa told the best Polish jokes! People shouldn't take themselves too seriously!
- vault, on 04/15/2009, -2/+52There is nothing racist about this.
- dystra, on 04/15/2009, -1/+38Mexican is a nationality not a race.
- LouPickney, on 04/14/2009, -0/+36I like the way that "El Cachito" (the masked wrestler) wears his championship belt around the house.
- shutaro, on 04/14/2009, -8/+38That ad is definitely offensive to Cowboys.
- pookydirt, on 04/14/2009, -3/+31No, cuz it's full of warm fuzzies, and now my mouth is watering to try one!
- franklymister, on 04/15/2009, -0/+27I think cowboys vs. lucha libre wrestlers needs to become the new ninjas vs. pirates.
- shutaro, on 04/15/2009, -0/+24If I had a championship belt, I'd wear it everywhere.
- bubbameister33, on 04/15/2009, -1/+24What the hell was that second pattie?
- redwolfwalker, on 04/14/2009, -5/+23Should Burger King kill this ad... why or why not?
- franklymister, on 04/15/2009, -6/+23That's hilarious - and I think Mexico needs to STFU.
I didn't hear them complaining when Absolut ran ads suggesting they should invade and take over 1/3 of the USA: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/laplaza/2008/04/me ... - FDDIcent, on 04/15/2009, -2/+19Dude I'm Mexican and I don't see how that's racist. Mexican wrestlers dress in costumes like that, it's not an exaggeration, and most of us are short.
- ramiro, on 04/15/2009, -1/+17The ad is funny because it made caricatures of both Mexican Luchadores and Texan Cowboys and it is kinda cool to see 2 people so different getting along fine.
- inactive, on 04/15/2009, -4/+19Why SHOULD they? Who the hell is actually offended by this? I'm from Texas and I don't get offended by the Texan caricature, and I can't possibly see why Mexicans would be offended by the luchador either. People need to get their priorities straight and spend their time caring about REAL issues.
- Donotsurf, on 04/15/2009, -0/+13Apprently, the King like square butts:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5X4TSbGreA - franklymister, on 04/15/2009, -0/+12How is it racist? If it was a German-style burger, and the ad had a short sexy German girl, and the tag line was "a little tasty German," would that be racist?
- bigteebo, on 04/15/2009, -0/+12But Tex-Mex is okay? I mean I'm more offended by the food from Chevy's.
- Owned1Up, on 04/15/2009, -0/+12Don't see how this is offensive. They are taking a stereotypical Texan, and a stereotypical Mexican and putting them together in the ad. Essentially they are making fun of both American's and Mexican's. Doesn't that cancel things out?
- RumpleForeskin3, on 04/15/2009, -1/+13They should have used a gun-wielding cartel member and a stoner from the US. That's a little more up to date and more PC.
- chinaman1212, on 04/15/2009, -5/+16Well since this is America and not Mexico, i am not offended. Hey Americans: check yourselves. i think your balls have disappeared.
- weitips, on 04/15/2009, -6/+16Dugg for the line "with a little mexican in it"
- Coffeedemon, on 04/15/2009, -0/+10Its just a damn hamburger commercial.
- Biscuitz, on 04/15/2009, -2/+12People seriously think this is racist? Lol, sounds to me like some people need to get outside.
- franklymister, on 04/15/2009, -17/+26No - if Mexico wants to send millions of their citizens to try and turn the United States into a Spanish-speaking country with no border laws, we can make one stupid freakin' joke.
- GiJoeBob, on 04/15/2009, -1/+10I know where I am eating lunch today.
- redwolfwalker, on 04/14/2009, -2/+11I'll take a veggie burger and have lunch with both of those guys
- Duggan360, on 04/15/2009, -2/+11Your group of friends sounds like a lovely ethnic diversity marketing scheme :)
- GusCrown, on 04/15/2009, -0/+9I'm also Mexican and I don't find it offensive or racist, I think it's kind of funny.
As an added note, I believe some Mexicans were complaining about the Texican ads BK is running in Europe; in those, El Cachito is wearing the Mexican flag as a "Sarape". You must understand that Mexicans have tremendous respect for their flag, and I believe there are some kind regulations of what you can and can't do (I'm sorry but I dont know the details), but I believe one of those is that you are not allowed to wear the flag as clothing.
So I think that is the reason Mexicans were complaining and asking BK to respect our flag. - Rhendal, on 04/15/2009, -0/+9That's the little spicy Mexican.
- Smokeydabear, on 04/15/2009, -2/+10The only thing offensive about this situation is how the ***** nasty burger is going to taste.
- ArchAngel21x, on 04/15/2009, -0/+8Offensive? No. A little weird? Yes.
- Rhendal, on 04/15/2009, -0/+8That's not the line. It was "With a little spicy Mexican."
- ChuyMX, on 04/15/2009, -0/+8I, as a Mexican do not find this ad remotely racist. I understand that many people let their pride and ignorance get in the way of their thought process.
- Dohko_Xar, on 04/15/2009, -4/+10Mexico does't send people because they want to, people leave Mexico because they have no other option. Douche bag.
- matu4251, on 04/15/2009, -1/+7This add was run in Spain and the UK not in the US: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090415/od_nm/us_burge ...
So please, leave the US out of this. - H4n90fThur5D4y5, on 04/15/2009, -0/+6No! I am literally a Texican (Mexican/White Texan) and I'm not offended at all. It's just a silly commercial geez lighten up, people!
- vault, on 04/15/2009, -0/+6The guy isn't being depicted as a stereotypical Mexican, just like the American character in this isn't being depicted as a stereotype either. If the American was obese and had diabetes, and the Mexican was trying to illegally enter America to steal his whopper, THAT would be bigoted...
- mugrido, on 04/15/2009, -0/+6Oh, it is not the stereotype, it is the use of the flag. Mexican laws are pretty anal about the use of the flag. This commercial is not meant for television inside Mexico, so I do not know which case they remotely have.
That said, I'm Mexican and I found the commercial hilarious. - EnjoyFailure, on 04/15/2009, -1/+6***** Burger King! I never got my Angry Whopper from that retarded Whopper Sacrifice thing!
- franklymister, on 04/15/2009, -0/+5Here ya go: http://www.wrestlingbeltworld.com/replicas.html
- pookydirt, on 04/14/2009, -0/+5But is it a Texican veggie burger...?
- DarkBlueAnt, on 04/15/2009, -1/+6Wait... this ad has controversy? Wow.... people are pussies if this offends them.
- franklymister, on 04/15/2009, -0/+4"A little spicy Mexican."
Oh, and cowboys and wrestlers are always funny together. - redwolfwalker, on 04/14/2009, -0/+4Probably not, we will let that one be from California, but with extra jalepenos
- alHiboux, on 04/15/2009, -0/+4they already did. there were posters for it in Spain and the UK, and the ambassador for Mexico made a big fuss about it, saying that its ilegal and of poor taste to stereotype (and, well, yeah, in Mexico it IS illegal to use the national flag for funny things, or pretty much anything).
I am mexican, I am not offended, and i liked the ad. The little guy looks better than some luchadores i've seen. - nickespinosa, on 04/15/2009, -4/+8Do you have any clue why people immigrate here?
Ever heard of NAFTA?
Mexican farmers have their local economies undermined by U.S. subsidized multinational agriculture corporations like Monsanto and Cargil.
In fact the subsidies for U.S. corn alone are 10 times the entire budget for the Mexican agricultural sector. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_Free_T ...
As a result poor farmers are producing crops at a loss, and face the decision letting their families starve to death, or crossing the border. What would you do? - asgardshill, on 04/15/2009, -3/+7I got a definite whiff of Brokeback Mountain out of that ad (almost expected to see a shot of the two picking out curtains together in the last scene), but racist? Naaah. Put the Mexican in a bumblebee suit next time, and you're golden, Burger King.
And I don't eat at BK anyway - I've got this stubborn aversion to salmonella and e coli. - Logrusmage, on 04/15/2009, -2/+6How the hell is it racist to say Mexican food is spicy? Mexican food IS spicy...
- Stormwern, on 04/15/2009, -1/+5Awww, so cute. Just so I got it right, the desperado is the mexican, and the fat guy with a super hero complex is the american, right? ;)
