- Ghostalker, on 07/02/2009, -6/+58"...30 witnesses saw the officer turn aggressive and repeatedly kick the church door. Several members were hit with pepper spray and children were present, Miguel Moran said."
Everything else aside, was it really necessary for a cop to repeatedly kick down a door, then indiscriminately spray the congregation with pepper spray? - smacksaw, on 07/02/2009, -2/+51The only thing worse than questioning a cop in Texas is questioning a cop while being Hispanic. He never stood a chance. I believe his side of the story, but he probably won't get a fair shake. Never, ever cross a cop in Texas. Especially if you have a heart condition like this guy does.
- supferrets, on 07/02/2009, -0/+37Maybe he was trying to spray the congregation with candy, but he grabbed the wrong bottle on his belt.
- FacePuncher, on 07/02/2009, -1/+38I've seen so many articles about ***** up cops recently. Are they just getting worse and worse? Or are they just getting worse and worse at hiding this *****?
- kemp34, on 07/02/2009, -4/+35I think it is safe to say that that action was not necessary.
- apothekari, on 07/02/2009, -13/+44Another reason to never visit Texas.
NEVER. - maz2331, on 07/02/2009, -0/+27Why can't that happen on "bring your gun to church day" just once?
- spatty, on 07/02/2009, -10/+35some of these cops just need to drop dead.
- ChiaGod, on 07/02/2009, -0/+20Millions of people equipped with cameras and camcorders (in the form of cell phones) = more bad cops getting exposed.
Or to put it another way, would the Rodney King incident have made the news w/o the infamous video? - Protonz, on 07/02/2009, -0/+19Where there is a power disparity there will be corruption and abuse.
Somehow society has elevated people in police uniforms above other people unjustly. - fury420, on 07/02/2009, -4/+22what part of the cop's job involves pepper spraying a congregation in their own church's parking lot again?
- uknowwhoibe, on 07/02/2009, -4/+22They're telling a very different story on the local AM radio station (I'm local).
They (the radio station) are giving the vibe that the pastor went out and was interfering with the police officer at 5:30AM.
They said nothing about doors being kicked or pepper-spraying people.
Sigh, the media... - Bukowsky, on 07/02/2009, -0/+16Texas is a great place to live... we just have ***** up police and politicians that do dumbass things.
Hopefully the pastor will get whats due. - NeverReturnKid, on 07/03/2009, -0/+15@srs2000
There is no such thing as "reverse discrimination." It's either discrimination or it's not. - enantiodromia, on 07/02/2009, -1/+15which Gospel is that one from exactly?
- ChiaGod, on 07/02/2009, -0/+14@WNW3
In that situation the most effective thing to do (in lieu of pepper spray) would be to label a can of silly string as "THETANS" and start spraying wildly into the crowd. - energyx, on 07/02/2009, -0/+13Some good news:
http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2009/jul/01/f ...
cop gets 255 years for shaking down drug dealers. shoulda taken the plea deal, hotshot!
it took 30min for the judge to read the verdict. - uoytogi, on 07/02/2009, -0/+11I hope for a day when average Americans are no longer stupids.

To his defense they look identical.

Also, in my search for this joke I found this.

I thought it was funny in any case. - srs2000, on 07/02/2009, -2/+12There is also reverse discrimination in Texas. I'm white. Every single non-white cop I've run into has.... been a problem? To put it nicely. Even when no law has actually been broken.
Ever been given a ticket for being young, white and driving a BMW? The cop made no attempt to even hide that as the reason. That is pretty much all he said, actually. Speeding ticket for 2mph over, on the freeway, while being passed by a large truck.
There is discrimination on all sides. I'm not claiming one side is better or worse than the other. But most people discriminate whether they admit it or not. Because you are white does not mean you are immune from it. Not all cops are white. - psilly, on 07/02/2009, -2/+11I agree.
Except for Austin. - woodyex1, on 07/02/2009, -1/+10I SMELL BACON!!!!!!
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -1/+10or if you're not white.
- MWeather, on 07/02/2009, -1/+10If we did that, cops might think twice before violating our rights, and we can't have that.
- arcane81, on 07/03/2009, -1/+10Ya I totally agree, the cops here in Oakland CA go through really hard training to prevent this. We never have cops killing any innocent people here.
/s ..BART - RSMiller, on 07/02/2009, -2/+11<-- Seeking programming job outside of Texas. Save me?
- Yazilliclick, on 07/02/2009, -4/+13I don't get it, how do you 'help' somebody during a traffic stop? It's sort of the type of thing that if you're not involved in you keep the ***** out of. As to the rest of it I have no idea, sounds like an ugly situation. Pepper spray though will naturally get on anybody near it's use, doesn't sound like the cop actually sprayed everybody.
- Enkairi, on 07/02/2009, -0/+8Relevance?
- mdmcgee, on 07/03/2009, -1/+9Webster says it all. This is a po-dunk ***** of a town that takes less than a minute to drive through. The town is surounded on all sides so it can't grow. The cops are extremley paranoid and were known for their corruption and coke parties 20 years ago. Nice to see somethings never change.
- srs2000, on 07/02/2009, -0/+7Both.
- Kravin, on 07/03/2009, -0/+7Trick question, something can't choose sides if it doesn't exist
- Ne007, on 07/03/2009, -0/+7Yeh....I guess the Pastor is lying in this case....and all those youtube videos are doctored.
....bleep bleeep..... - PopcornDave, on 07/02/2009, -0/+7If the person involved in the traffic stop didn't speak any English and the cop didn't speak the language of the person who was stopped, and the minister did, then I can very well see how he would try to help out but the story is so bereft of actual details beyond the sensational to sell it that it's almost worthless.
- baskin, on 07/02/2009, -0/+7i don't care if you're american or not, just stop posting.
- Paranor01, on 07/02/2009, -2/+8He's a person first, preacher afterwards.
- MWeather, on 07/02/2009, -0/+6"That only involves unnecessary people and puts them at risk."
What risk? It was a traffic stop in a church parking lot. - Pyehole, on 07/03/2009, -1/+7I'd take the word of 30 sheeple over Mr. Piggy-pig's word. Cops these days have zero credibility. Too many cameras around these days. The thugs can't work in peace anymore.
- MacParrot, on 07/03/2009, -0/+6I think it can be safely said that in every state or country you could possibly visit there will be areas filled with *****. The trick is to avoid those areas.
- uknowwhoibe, on 07/02/2009, -0/+6You should definitely visit Austin. It's an amazing city.
- me1.0, on 07/02/2009, -1/+7The book of Tater Salad.
- pocketjacks, on 07/03/2009, -0/+6Here's an article on the Houston Chronicle telling a different story:
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/headline/metro ...
What I find funny is that FOX News is defending what our local television news suggested was an illegal alien pulled over without a license or registration in front of his church, which is primarily a parish for illegal aliens. His legal status doesn't justify brutality, but it's FOX NEWS...Glenn Beck would be drowning in his tears over this story.
There was also a VERY high-profile police officer fatality in a parking lot shootout in Houston last week. I'm not justifying the use of the pepper spray, but I'm sure he was more highly alarmed by a large aggressive crowd surrounding him. - THX8612, on 07/03/2009, -2/+8Buried for being a Fox News story
- woodyex1, on 07/02/2009, -2/+7HERE PIGGY PIGGY PIGGY!!!!!
cop troll is still a troll. - enantiodromia, on 07/02/2009, -0/+5oh come on! that's his name!
- BottledViolence, on 07/02/2009, -5/+10This is a first on Digg.
People supporting a preacher. - tgc1, on 07/03/2009, -2/+7That's the propaganda machine at work. Covering up the blights of public officials everywhere.
- GorfTron, on 07/02/2009, -0/+5Tasers were involved.
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -0/+5lol i get it at least.
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -0/+5ah no, texas sucks.
- GorfTron, on 07/02/2009, -1/+6Insufficient information. The article does not include the sexual orientation of the men involved.
