and who can forget the classic:
"Sound Out of Sync, Low-Res Spiderman 3" - m0d3s7m1k3, on 10/10/2007, -6/+133That's a pretty *****' stupid way to set an example.
No victim, no crime. - directsun, on 10/10/2007, -16/+132That's a pretty ugly teenage girl.
- hawkspur, on 10/10/2007, -5/+97***** the MPAA and the RIAA. Seriously.
- insomniac8400, on 10/10/2007, -4/+51Hopefully people will boycott the chain of theaters.
- collareddrifter, on 10/10/2007, -2/+41That must have been the most exciting 20 second rush in her life.
- bugsy187, on 10/10/2007, -2/+34Or it would be like suing someone when you don't have a case, but do have power and wealth.
- kenvsryu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+28I know a girl who can get you movies 20 seconds at a time.
- kenvsryu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+28She's a transformer.

- LordofChaosIori, on 10/10/2007, -4/+19Keeps her nose clean? What they don't want her to kiss ass or something?
- sunshine747, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18oh crap I recorded 15 seconds of it on my phone and sent it to my friend. should I turn myself in?
- fxspec06, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15with my car going 40
- ArchonSG, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16They can't or don't want to get involved with the real people pirating movies that they'd rather whack a mole with a teen using a still cam? If they really want to deal with piracy, they'd be looking for source leaks, hunting down the triads in Hong Kong selling TS Non Regional DVDs for under US$3.00 each and actually do some real intellectual property policing.
- kenvsryu, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regal_Entertainment_Group
The three main theatre brands operated by Regal Entertainment Group are:
* Regal Cinemas
* Edwards Theatres
* United Artists Theatres - ZephyrNinety, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15Yeah, 'cause I'm sure that 20 seconds didn't make people wanna see the movie after. If I had seen just 20 seconds of Transformers, I would have went to go see it right then and there, it was awesome. She would have helped more than hurt.
- ernasty10050, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16I am an employee of a theatre owned by REG. The reason we have to be so strict on recording films is the movie companies will go after us. Since we only retain 5% of the revenue from ticket sales (the rest goes to the production company) it's pretty clear that they control us. That also explains why a drink and popcorn is $11.
The only step to reporting it is to call the police. We're not allowed to interfere, or snap a photo of them or anything.
All that being said, one customer recorded the credits of Spider-Man 3 a few months ago. I allowed him to do it because he had a relative in the credits. I nearly lost my job and work has been hell since then. - norman619, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14Take your fat ass to the gym please....
- quomen, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13I wouldn't hit it.
- lusciouslewis, on 10/10/2007, -5/+17The MPAA can kiss my fat ass. Are you going to arrest me for that? Try me.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -5/+16Meh, just kill all the MPAA execs and their henchmen. Problem solved.
Oh wait, we'd have to wage a an all-out revolution against the US government to do that... oh well, it's about time anyway. - Zaetha, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Give her a break. They sucked her soul away.
- keyboardduder, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13Totally horrible, she was soooo audacious that I would never even think of perpetrating any kind of deed of that level. Wow, what a badass. She should definitley be sued and made an example of. I mean, our government and the high-up government corporat-(organizations i mean) always put the really high priorities first. Yes, always.
- MCDupree, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Damn straight it's about time...
- yomamaisfat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10If she filmed Meagan Fox bending over the car, she can sell it to a porn site and make back some of the money; most porn clips are 20 seconds anyway.
- atheinostic, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11It wasn't wrong. There is absolutely nothing wrong with low-quality filming 20 seconds of a movie on a cell phone. 20 seconds of low-quality video recording could not possibly have hurt anyone in any way. Fairness would be repealing the law, and having the MPAA that pushed it apologize to her and the American people for their bullying behavior.
- NikoKun, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8In General... any time a prosecutor tries to "set and example" with someone... It is done unjustly and in almost every case, the prosecutor is a complete and utter *****. -_- Any prosecutor that tries to "set examples" should be shot...
This is not justice... - Kelmon, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11Oh for pities sake. Everyone knows (and you're typically informed again of this before the movie) that it's illegal to record a film in a movie theatre. Whether you like it or not, that's your law. Evidentially this "criminal genius" thought she was above it and got caught. Tough. No sympathy here. Honestly, what was the point of this anyway?
- MacGyver2210, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8We be rollin' white 'n nerdeh...yeaaaaaah cracka!
- sophiaperennis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+820 Seconds out of 140 minutes = 1 / 420th part of the movie. Totally a reason to sue the hell out of a teenager.
End of RIAA rant. - NidStyles, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7That's cool. I downloaded the whole damn movie.
- pentalive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10She should have claimed "Fair Use" and that she was going to write a report on the movie or something.
- actorboy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7"Does this mean you have to leave your cellphone at home too?"
I wish you would. - crossmr, on 10/10/2007, -2/+920 seconds should really be covered under fair use.
- WoollyMittens, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Dear USA,
you have about 10% of your population in jail allready. We are worried that you haven't got your priorities straight.
Regards,
Europe. - MacGyver2210, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Or you could 'boycott' like I do and just download the movies you want to see, for free, from pirates that probably deserve this conviction a lot more. Screw theatres, screw the MPAA, and screw the studios. They obviously have enough money and don't need more if they can pay people $10 mil for a 4-month filming schedule.
- mastahack, on 10/10/2007, -7/+13i'd tap dat
- DookieCantRead, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7And this, ladies and gentleman, is what is wrong with our great nation.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9She paid $71 in court fees. I think she got off :p
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9Torrent that ***** then. Thats the only way to stick it to these *****.
- ClunkClunk, on 10/10/2007, -4/+9This is her: http://crunchgear.com/2007/08/22/jhannet-sejas-pleads-guilty-to-unlawful-recording-charges/
I'd give her 20 seconds of something of mine for free. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Fiar use criteria
1. the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;
in this case it was non commercial since she just wanted to show here how cool the movie was.
2. the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and
20 ***** seconds wont destroy the movie
3. the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.
again 20 ***** seconds wont cost them millions of dollars of damage. - actorboy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I'm an actor who is frequently hired by the production companies umbrellaed under the MPAA. I am considered by my peers to be a "working actor", meaning I am relatively successful in my field -- I work a lot. I get paid for the day(s) I shoot, and I also get residuals from things like DVD sales, broadcast television sales and cable sales of the movies I've been in. Last year I grossed approximately $22k, including residuals. I drive a beat up '96 Mazda pickup truck. Please stop fooling yourself into believing we're all rich and don't need the money.

- D3koy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I thought it doesn't count unless it's over 30 seconds....Isn't that why clips on tv shows are under 30 seconds?
- kingvik, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6it's the only right thing to do.
