- Error601, on 10/27/2007, -0/+1Next you'll tell me tea leaves were used to make tea.
- WiseWeasel, on 10/27/2007, -0/+1Tarot as a card game is really popular in France. It's similar to 'spades', where you have trump cards and regular cards, and complex multiplayer team strategy. There are some cool online tarot gaming sites, populated mostly with French people, where you can play with teams on the web. If anyone is looking for a nice strategy multiplayer online game, you could do a lot worse than tarot.
- popothebright, on 11/25/2007, -0/+1This fact gets thrown around as if it's some great revealing "secret". Who cares? You can *use* anything for anything. You can read tea leaves. You can use any book to tell the future (bibliomancy). If playing around with divination is fun for you, then imho its much better than organized religion anyday. The use of tarot for divination is vastly more popular than the game anyway.
My girlfriend is completely hooked on this (free) one: http://www.ifate.com - fhornplayer, on 10/27/2007, -0/+1You confuse the comment section with the story description section.
- Tarockspieler, on 10/27/2007, -0/+0There are a few minor technical errors, there are actually 78 and not 72 cards in the typical tarot deck. Overall the article is a good one, as it debunks the common pseudohistory which all too often appears in mainstream media. There should be more tarot articles like this one in the future! From my user name, you should guess that I play tarot card games. The occult myths and stereotypes have been harmful to my hobby. They should be debunked for that reason.
- kris78, on 04/18/2009, -0/+0But now tarot cards are used for reading the future and it'a a great way to relax and have fun. Many people belive in tarot readings and we should allow them to do what they want. You can read more abount tarot readings on my blog and You would understand that it won't hurt anyone.
http://www.tarot-cards.org/ - Tarockspieler, on 10/27/2007, -0/+0Ludiclub, WebTarot, and FoxTarot are some good online tarot websites. Because of the occult stereotypes surrounding tarot cards, some of the tarot game websites have been wrongly classified as "occult" or "paranormal" by internet censor filters. The mainstream media should make some reference to the card games instead of always presenting tarot from the occultist point of view.
- anjamerret, on 10/27/2007, -1/+1Nice bit of background on Tarot cards.
- Tarot4Games, on 02/01/2008, -0/+0Well, the main reason that divination with tarot is "vastly more popular" than the game is that the publishers of tarot cards and books rarely if ever present the option of playing the card game. In countries like the United States, tarot is ALWAYS presented as a divination method and in no other way. It's not like people have freely chosen to read tarot rather than play it.
- Tarot4Games, on 10/30/2007, -0/+0This French card game has appeared in a YouTube video in the GOP Presidential Debate! The Republicans will have to look at tarot cards to answer his question! Go to YouTube and search "What's in the cards for social security" I've aready submitted a digg for it
