- Vaiper, on 11/05/2009, -0/+59When I read the initial story I wanted badly for something like this to happen. I guess I am too accustomed to the bad guys winning. This is absolutely wonderful.

Mayor 0 - rjbeckjr, on 11/05/2009, -0/+46Oh my God. A Digg article about abuse that actually had a follow-up. Not only that, it's the second one today. I must be in Bizarro world.
- MonoDede, on 11/05/2009, -0/+42Nice follow-up article. Voters getting things done. Win.
- TheKriket, on 11/04/2009, -0/+35Taking action. Getting results.
- benroy, on 11/05/2009, -1/+28I hadn't realized until just now how jaded I had become. Actually being surprised when a righteous and just action is taken, I'm not used to that anymore.
I'm going to go look at some pictures of kittens now, don't want to loose the buzz. - 15thPD, on 11/05/2009, -0/+26I'm just glad the officer got reinstated. Would be a shame if his life was ruined by some ***** on a power trip.
- firewall1, on 11/05/2009, -0/+14Thanks for the follow up.
Good job, voters. Hopefully more will do the same across the country for similar douches. - LilJimmyNordin, on 11/05/2009, -0/+14Stocktowned
- YojanV, on 11/05/2009, -0/+9Cancel that message to Batman... looks like democracy pulled through this time.
- Jpatano, on 11/05/2009, -1/+9you really expect us all to believe you typed out that first sentence, then searched and found the information before submitting your comment ? please. shouldn't you be hiding under a bridge somewhere ?
- pizzaface200, on 11/05/2009, -0/+7Justice has prevailed...for a change.
- LOPposse, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5Stockton, UT not Stockton, CA
- Probatus, on 11/05/2009, -4/+9Second 'paragraph':
"Oponent Mark Whitey won the town's vote for mayor with over 75 percent of the vote. "
Great spelling and grammar skills ABC. - Ascus, on 11/05/2009, -1/+6At Mayor level there is not much party influence, so if they mayor is Democratic or Republican does not make much difference. Glad he is gone, and even more happy that the voters ran him out of office. I don't think the old mayor ever saw that coming, he really did think he owned the town.
- insanebrain, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4about what ?
- KMartSheriff, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3Not a huge fan of the city Stockton itself, but this is awesome news!
- u3b3rg33k, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3That's one mark in the WIN column for America.
- GunWraith, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3Buzzkill win
- defteats, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2A win for that town and a win for digg for the follow-up article.
- tugo2k1, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Biiiiiiiiiitch ! you and your punk ass kid !

- kaosethema, on 11/07/2009, -0/+1it is a kind of commentary that you'll never truly understand... you and the 7 morons that dugg you
- Craigistired, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1Woot! Democracy, ***** ya!
- GunWraith, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1Wait... what?
- magamiako, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1Ascus:
How is there not a lot of party influence at the mayor level? "Democrat" and "Republican" describes ideologies, not people. People fall into those ideologies at all levels. - ekSD, on 11/05/2009, -5/+5Wow.
First and foremost: I'm pretty sure I live in the real world. I have a job and go to school, sometimes I eat food, and I talk to people in the real world. It's a nice place.
Secondly, your strangely ironic name alludes to your ignorance: Digg has done some pretty ***** amazing *****. This isn't your version of Slashdot or some crappy forum you visit.
It's not perfect, but jesus man, what's with the hostility? How long are you going to live in YOUR delusion that the Internet will never bring people together for CHANGE?
Enjoy the bubble there, chief. - TrevorBelmont, on 11/05/2009, -2/+2Those kittens have grown up by now. Many of them are dead.
- LopezElGuapo, on 11/05/2009, -4/+0For all of you cheering this as justice being done or hope for our country:
Stockton: Population (within city limits) 290,409
The article says: "...total of 230 voters..(the challenger) snagged 173 of them..."
Does this mean Stockton has 99.9992% voter apathy?
I hope the article got its numbers off by an order of magnitude or two... - rdldr1, on 11/05/2009, -8/+1Mark Whitey?
Or Mark Whitney?
Freud was right. - keysersozejr, on 11/05/2009, -11/+2Yep,Joseph Smith and Brigham Young's magic plates made this happen. Can we marry more than one woman yet? No? Oh damn..lets go skiing then.
- ekSD, on 11/05/2009, -14/+4I sent an email to the mayor last week. Of course, it bounced back, but the emails to the council members definitely went through.
I think we can safely say that Digg had something to do with this awesome turn of events... - inactive, on 11/05/2009, -12/+2YOU can safely say that, Me? I like to live in the real world so I know that the residents were pissed off about it LONG before it appeared on Digg.
Seriously...you are extremely delusional if you think Digg has ever changed the way ANYONE has handled things. - magamiako, on 11/05/2009, -15/+2The interesting thing behind all of this is that nowhere have I been able to find any information on the candidates' party affiliations.
Oh, I think I found it--he is Republican. That would explain the abuse of power. Carry on.

What is Digg?
