RIP Adams.
Also the Death Star and many video hagem ships aren't there. - verifex, on 10/12/2007, -8/+51Chart is stolen from here http://www.merzo.net/
Congrats on trying to steal it though; I'm sure Jeff Russell will be so happy that someone made a chart with all of them in one place. - TheFightForGood, on 10/12/2007, -3/+38where is the millenium falcon? maybe i missed it...?
also, they need to include the spaceships from Independence Day... - pegleg1971, on 10/12/2007, -0/+34They forgot Jefferson Starship
- trib4lmaniac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+33There appears to be some confusion on Wikipedia as to the size of the Death Star; but if the common figure of 160km is to be believed the death star would be a sphere a little over 9 times the diameter of the Executor Class Star Destroyer at the top of the image.
- directedition, on 10/12/2007, -0/+32"where is the millenium falcon?"
Maybe it's just too small to fit on the screen. An aircraft carrier barely takes a few pixels. - Toupee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+33Actually, it's from Dan Carlson's Star Trek Minutiae website, and he has a second chart, as well.
http://www.st-minutiae.com/misc/comparison.xhtml
I can't find anything on Jeff Russell's site that leads me to believe he created any of those images, and if you'd look at this link, you'd see Dan Carlson references about ten different sources for his sizes. (In any case, it's certainly a much more meaningful image than Jeff's page with ships scattered on multiple pages and the suggestion of "Internet Explorer users may Click and Drag the starships to compare them as you like.") - MioTheGreat, on 10/12/2007, -7/+36Bah! I don't see a Ha'tak, The O'Neill, The Beliskner, The Daniel Jackson, the city-ship of Atlantis, The Daedaleus, The Prometheus, A wraith hive ship, a wraith cruiser, that wierd thing from 'Grace'.............
Need I continue? Stargate has only had about 270 episodes across two series.... - MusicalGenius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20I wanted to see Thor's ship on there. I miss thor's ship....Stargate is dying....:(
- Vengefultacos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19Hey! Where's the Planet Express ship?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19where's the death star
- masamunecyrus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20I'm wondering where the Spaceballs ship is -- Spaceball One.
- brutalentropy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20@dannyboy
You mean Laurence Fishburne? He was also in the matrix, how do people not know who he is?
"the black guy in that movie"
Geez. - aceman118, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18I'm pretty sure every self respecting geek is aware of the size of the death star.
- Horseboiler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Where's the TARDIS?
- Cojawfee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18I can't believe that amongst all this decent science fiction, you want Halo 2.
- Toupee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Well it's bigger on the inside...
- febryle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16This would make an awesome poster for my friend living in his parent's basement.
- Rikkochet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12(All ships are pictured inside a Dyson Sphere)
- Eastlygod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Come On!
Where in God's name is Red Dwarf? And the Starbug? Honestly.... - EricJD, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13If the Death Star was on the chart, you wouldn't be able to see any of the other ships.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Star Wars for the win.
- wstrucke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11about to be three
- captainbluebear, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15And where is the Pillar of Autumn?
- DannyBoy7783, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Wow. Really. You know what would be helpful? A link.
- Bakkster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Serenity is 63m, the smallest ship on the chart is 200m. Pick 6 pixels, that's Serenity.
http://www.merzo.net/ - StarCrusher, on 10/12/2007, -14/+23What? No Serenity? No self-respecting geek would have submitted a link that excluded Serenity!
- 4answer2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10I miss Lexx
- randomvictim, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Boo @ no stargate.
- craigyjack, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9come on now, the death star would explode your firefox window compared to the size of the ships in the poster....
- mp42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I would've added the Heart of Gold from Hitchhiker's Guide.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Personally, I was offended by the fact that it DID have Andromeda. That show was terrible.
- albinoMithos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Stop now before you cause the Armageddon of geek arguments about which Sci-Fi series is the best...
- rense, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7EVE Online has some pretty big stuff flying around too:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Eve_chart.jpg - Ystig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7It has no fixed exterior dimensions. The fact that the Doctor's TARDIS is stuck in the apparent exterior form of a police call box for the duration of the series is incidental. It could as easily be a mile-long ice cream truck from the outside, from the point of view of the technology.
- jschrab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Heh, heh, the idea of a giant ice cream truck in orbit around a planet... Sounds like "...if Ford Prefect were a Time Lord..."
- Jarodd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I like that website better. More ships, and Death Star ! and Halo Ring ! Alot from animated and reality too
Check out this story : http://digg.com/television/How_big_is_firefly - rationalist, on 10/12/2007, -16/+23http://www.microsoft.com/
- Ayedin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Unless of course, you're the rebel alliance.
- ImPerial99, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7im lovin the executor class star destroyer but i cant imagine how big an eclipse class star destroyer would be!
- Recuso, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6WHERE IS THE SCIMITAR? [Star Trek: Nemesis!]
It wa huuuuuuuge.
"52 Disruptor banks, 27 photon torpedos, primary AND secondary shielding" -- Worf
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scimitar_(Star_Trek) - Shadow6363, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Damn, Stargate is one of the best sci-fi there is. Also, you forgot to list the Ori ships, those things are huge.
- Disodium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5yes my friend would also like to have this as a poster, yes my friend
- DrMatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Sphere-o-fear?
- Eastlygod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Ever heard of a little tool called zoom?
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Where's [some ship] from [my favorite obscure sci-fi show]? What the hell were they thinking??
- AnDsHrEw, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Wheres The Ship from space balls?
come on it totaly tops all of those
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - ryodoan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6hmmm.... so.. when is "your friend" planning on moving out?
- MioTheGreat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7There are things from Voyager and Enterprise on there, so I'm not buying a 'quality' cutoff....especially since Stargate rules.
