- pevensen, on 12/29/2007, -0/+44The link goes to a text file? It doesn't seem to have any content when displayed in a browser.
- MacBandit, on 12/29/2007, -2/+28I have to say it.
Video or it didn't happen.......... - compmodder, on 12/29/2007, -2/+28who the ***** puts a webpage in a .txt file?
- DeskFlyer, on 12/29/2007, -0/+22It looks like the date is wrong in the original link URL. Try this one: http://www.magicvalley.com/articles/2007/12/27/new ...
- inactive, on 12/29/2007, -1/+19How many squirrels does it take to unscrew a light bulb?
- anagoge, on 12/29/2007, -0/+16Damn squirrels have stolen the server!
- rmd34, on 12/29/2007, -0/+16I had the same problem. Try the link below (site query). The first article that displays (as of 12/28) is the one you want:
'Nutty theory or mystery solved?'
http://www.magicvalley.com/shared-content/search/? ...
Directly accessing the file (txt) didn't work for me either. - bigtimslim, on 12/29/2007, -4/+19They now have a suspect in custody:
http://www.partytuner.com/v5/gallery/files/5/3/9/4 ... - skampUG, on 12/29/2007, -2/+14I guess there are going to be some pissed off squirrels when they find out the multi-colored "nuts" don't taste good!
- inactive, on 12/29/2007, -2/+13NO! I MUST KNOW WHY THE SQUIRRELS ARE DOING THIS!
- Pake, on 12/29/2007, -1/+10Dammit... Looks like Al Gore got to the squirrels. It's only a matter of time before the dolphins take all the fish and leave.
- esurient1, on 12/29/2007, -2/+8Dugg for proof of squirrels being natures ninjas.
- lewscroo, on 12/29/2007, -0/+4Squirrels are quite intelligent and are willing to go through a lot for nuts. Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4Eb1Nt6WIE
- roguedragon, on 12/29/2007, -0/+4Boy, talk about a great way to cure the squirrel rodent problem. Maybe we ought to give them miniature grenades and tell them they're pineapples. Then let explosive selection take its course. ;)
- merreborn, on 12/29/2007, -0/+4dugg up for "Explosive selection"
- joebus, on 12/29/2007, -0/+4So long and thanks for all the fish.
- houndeyex, on 12/29/2007, -1/+5But magicvalley.com sounds like such a credible source. I buy it.
- Veni_Vidi_Vici, on 12/29/2007, -1/+4I have to say that I agree.
- AlaskaLoneWolf, on 12/29/2007, -0/+3Damn tree rodent stole your article, and the light bulb. nice 1
- inactive, on 12/29/2007, -0/+3I am amazed that people still waste their time spamming Digg. There is no way they get enough hits from this to make it worthwhile...no matter HOW worthless bellelindsey values his free time.
- Abominous, on 12/29/2007, -0/+3I'm thinking of the clusters commercial where they steal the cereal in clever ways.
- Darkgh0st, on 12/29/2007, -2/+5Where's Eddie? He usually eats these goddamn things
- KingGorilla, on 12/29/2007, -0/+3What I'd do to find out their master plan
- complexigon, on 12/29/2007, -0/+3Perhaps it's a hacky attempt at stopping hot-linking?
- Sharkee, on 12/29/2007, -2/+4They're environmentalists and want us to use CFL's instead.
- Sil369, on 12/29/2007, -0/+2Not theOnion?
- Zomgondo, on 12/29/2007, -0/+2Now that's just nuts.
- inactive, on 12/29/2007, -0/+2Friction keeps him warm, unlike the CFCs.
- incd, on 04/18/2008, -1/+3The ones who use daring fireball's Markdown and a .htaccess file.
- 2oonhed, on 12/29/2007, -0/+1I was gonna say that
- inactive, on 12/29/2007, -0/+1They are stealing the lights because they need to light their sets for their new movie, "Swishy tails", why should those Damn Penguins get all the press!!!!
- inactive, on 12/29/2007, -0/+1Sounds like profiling.
- adventflux, on 12/29/2007, -1/+2Ready your BB guns.
- anagoge, on 12/29/2007, -0/+1Two. One to unscrew the lighbulb and one with huge balls to pose for *that* pic as a distraction.
- tehawesome531, on 12/29/2007, -1/+2Expected an Onion article...
- Deadeye99, on 12/29/2007, -1/+2because on their pilgrimage for nuts they couldn't find blue balls so they settled for bulbs.
- inactive, on 12/29/2007, -0/+1First they go green now Gay squirrel porn!!!
- inactive, on 12/29/2007, -0/+1How many Libocrats does it take to unscrew all the light Bulbs?
- FunkyNuts, on 12/29/2007, -0/+1They're likely using an htaccess file to rename dynamic links (/page?id=12343&date=122907) so that Google and other search engines will index them. Most search engines wouldn't index dynamic links for fear of getting caught in an endless indexing process. I used to use this method with my father's website, and all pages served up looked like .html files even though they were dynamic links. Worked like a charm.
- edwartica, on 12/29/2007, -1/+2Because you touch yourself at night!
- augmental, on 12/29/2007, -1/+2Well, this is what we get for running over all these little buggers with our cars for years. This is just the beginning. The next headline will be "Pack of squirrels seen stealing newborn baby out of crib".
- inactive, on 12/29/2007, -0/+1Actually they are the newest minions in Algores' attack on capitalism. Gaeia is now recruiting tha animals in the war against mankinds evil presence.
- HeatVision, on 12/29/2007, -0/+1"Squirrels unscrewing and stealing light bulbs"
Not just squirrels. *wink* - moneyboy1, on 12/29/2007, -0/+1Hey! This was supposed to be a video!
- bluenash, on 12/29/2007, -0/+1may be wrong about this, probably am, but sometimes (i think) pages are so full of crap ads, adblock disallows a page to load.
- FunkyNuts, on 12/29/2007, -1/+2Squirrels are just rats with fur and bushy tails.
- Onimua, on 12/31/2007, -0/+1Meh, they're just getting lighting installed in their trees now; squirrels need to keep warm in winter too!
- computergod, on 12/29/2007, -0/+1I think the MIME type matters more then anything.
Text/plain vs. text/HTML
Not that that is the situation in this case, but I've see it happen. - inactive, on 12/29/2007, -1/+1Spongebob: Why does it take more than one squirrel to screw in a light bulb?
Fish: ....WHY?!
Spongebob: Because! They're so darn stupid! - tgc1, on 12/29/2007, -0/+0Because when we end up having to go back to incandescent bulbs, they're going to make a killing selling them back to us at inflated prices. They'll have a lot of nuts then. Oh, and they're going to take over the world somehow. But you didn't hear that from me. Oh crap, i've already said too mu
