- StingingNettle, on 12/14/2008, -1/+22Yeah fluorescent lighting will do that.
- Bith8654, on 12/14/2008, -6/+26That was my first thought too, but what drug is that strong of a hallucinigenic/psychotropic to:
1. Make him trip so hard that he feels like a ghost pushes him to the floor
2. Leave no evidence of use (obvious physical characteristics like red eyes or a hole in your arm, paraphernalia like a pipe or syringe, or possibly extra drugs in his pockets)
3. Be accessible to a Malaysian burglar
4. Continue producing that powerful hallucination for three days straight
I guess if he had a sheet of LSD or DOM in his pocket and periodically took some, despite sitting in a house he broke into, AND he just happened to take the last of it right before the homeowners returned (because if the cops found drugs on him, his ghost story probably wouldn't have made the news) I don't really know the availability of those kinds of drugs in Malaysia though. I mean on one hand they require some expertise to make (LSD anyway, I don't know about DOchemicals) but on the other hand they are easily concealed which might make them more enticing for Malaysia since the country has draconian drug laws.
Also, unless he was under the influence before he broke into the house, it seems strange that he would break into a house with drugs on him, considering Malaysia has overly-severe drug laws. For example possession of 15 grams or more of heroin or morphine means mandatory death sentence. Maybe he hid his stash in the house, but that seems unlikely since if he had the energy to do that, he probably would have had the energy to walk out the door, not to mention the homeowners found him on the floor.
I still can't help but think it was probably drugs, maybe in combination with dehydration and fatigue. Maybe there is some important fact that the article doesn't mention, but using only the information provided by the article, drugs don't really seem to add up. But hey what the hell do I know? I'm definitely not a doctor :P - farfromhere, on 12/14/2008, -0/+20Dugg for "burgle"
- PeteBeast, on 12/14/2008, -1/+19The first time something similar to this happened to me, I thought as was getting possesed by the devil himself. I would wake up at the middle of the night (more than once at exactly 3A.M.) and look around me, but I couldn't move or scream (which I tried). Then browsing through discovery channel's late night shows, I came across "Sleep Paralysis".

Enjoy your sleep. - Dumbledorito, on 12/14/2008, -1/+17Was it wearing a red tie and domino mask? And is Frank Miller being sought for questioning?
- neonoodle, on 12/14/2008, -1/+16Oh, well given all those facts, the most logical thing to conclude is that when humans die, their essence of being or "soul" leaves their body, and instead of drifting around the cosmos, not being trapped within the confines of time and space anymore, decide to stick around and fight petty crimes of which there are few witnesses.
- Darkaged, on 12/14/2008, -2/+16The Onion are brilliant, aren't they?

- corr1756, on 12/14/2008, -0/+11No no no, the question to ask is
Where can I find that drug. - steviesteveo, on 12/14/2008, -0/+10Normally the right time to start claiming a ghost forced you to do anything at all is when it made you open the door with a crowbar.

- charm803, on 12/14/2008, -0/+9Usually, what you call "spirits" have a reasonable explanation.
My friend, for a long time, thought her dorm was haunted because the bath room door would be open and then SLAM shut.
She was freaked the ***** out, convinced her dorm was haunted, until I told her that it was because she left the damn bathroom window open. (She lived on the third floor.)
The gust of wind would shut her door closed. Took her a month after I told her for her to finally shut the ***** up. - bitterbug, on 12/14/2008, -0/+9Thank you! For years I've been looking for a logical explanation!
When I was 10 I woke up in the middle of the night to find a person wearing a mask standing at the foot of my bed. They watched me and moved around the room, even leaning against the wall and continuing to watch me. It took several minutes for me to get up the courage to bolt out of bed and run from the room. But there was nothing there when I came back in with my parents.
I didn't know what it was, but I've never believed in ghosts and it seemed improbable that it was a real person, as my window was still closed.
And then there was the night where I saw a 6 foot tall reptilian creature in my room for about 10 seconds when I was in my early 20s, but my roommate also woke up seeing snakes in his bed. We attributed that to bad pizza we'd ordered :) - garrettg84, on 12/14/2008, -1/+10no
- inactive, on 12/14/2008, -0/+8I wonder if the ghost looked like the little Asian kid on the “Grudge”. I would be finding a new career.
- dok333, on 12/15/2008, -0/+8datura, or commonly referred to as thornapple. I live in TN and the stuff grows all over the place. I don't know of the availability in Malaysia, but it isn't illegal here in the states. It can make you trip VERY hard for 3-5 days depending on the dosage, and not one of those cool trips either, I seen a guy stare out into his yard for hours watching the"pretty fish jump around", and afterward not remember what he did for the first day or two. Anyway, the stuff is bad news and should never be tried, but it could feasibly do what this guy is describing.

- BestDudeEver, on 12/14/2008, -1/+9These goddamn ghost have had their BALLS on my head for the past 6 and a half weeks!
- wowsah156, on 12/14/2008, -0/+7I wonder if the owners of the flat were occultists or witches?! They will need to be careful if gossip spreads. Malaysia is a muslim country and they dont care for witchcraft of magick much....
- ElRayQuieres, on 12/14/2008, -0/+7You mean amazing pizza?
- otakushark, on 12/15/2008, -1/+8Because everywhere else is infested with credulous religious types who will believe just about anything without solid evidence, so long as it jives with their religious programming?
