With OCD, you're compulsed to do something. This is an involuntary spasm in his throat (muscle constriction) that would make it impossible to speak correctly. Just because he said "rules" doesn't mean it's OCD.

    Had dinner with Scott Adams once with a group of friends after the conference. Nice guy. Real shame about his voice.

  • lilhurt38, on 07/21/2009, -1/+8Fascinating read. My dad's best man at his wedding recently had a severe stroke that left him unable to speak. He is a bio chemist who was making a large amount of money developing drugs for pharmaceutical companies. My dad visits him every weekend to help him with therapy, but he has shown little progress. The guy is still brilliant and brain damage doesn't have an effect on IQ. When the problem has to do with the brain there is little you can do but continue to practice those skills and hope that they eventually recover. It's very rare that someone will regain that function and it's amazing how much control the brain has over someone. Hopefully one day we'll find a way to repair those damaged brain cells.

  • CaviMike, on 07/21/2009, -1/+6I remember about 7-8 years ago I copied (at 500%) a strip making fun of QS9000 and all of the ***** forms that came along with it and posted it all over the shop (we just started to become QS/ISO compliant). The final window of the comic was the boss saying "You can't spell compliance without 'liance'" I almost got fired for it and it would have been so worth it.

    I feel his pain, but he must have it moreso considering his has to do with the brain, while mine just paralyzes the vocal chords.
