- Eywanadi, on 10/12/2007, -6/+69"28-year John Acerra, a principal since 2000" ... wait he was only 21 when he became the principal?! I thought you needed some kind of credentials for that job ... how on earth did he get it?
Also I wish the news article had a mugshot. lol - boomerxl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+32http://news.bostonherald.com/national/northeast/view.bg?articleid=185545
http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=local&id=5076240&ft=sm
Both report his age as 50, neither mention the pornography. Sensationalism on the Metro's part?
Also the abc site has pics of him in the video. - jaym, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22It doesn't say 28 year OLD. Read the 2nd article above - he graduated in 1979 which puts him nearly 50 years old.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17Meth dealing principles jerking off to pornos and hot teachers banging students in back alleys, I obviously went to the wrong school.
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Could've been worse. He could've been eating his boogers at the moment, as well.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Far more detailed story: http://www.mcall.com/news/local/all-4acerramar01,0,7856297.story
- jabailo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13They probably meant to say "28 year veteran"
- Scrappy1850, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12DAD?!
- acdcfanbill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Here's the story on CNN complete with town names if you prefer.
http://www.cnn.com/2007/LAW/02/28/meth.principal.ap/index.html - Lewiji, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Selling crack to the education board.
- steelmaverick, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Not only that, but he was watching gay porn, and selling crystal meth to people.
No wonder our educational system is fscked. - oldestree, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Yeah, he was actually 50, and was assistant principal for 10 years before being assigned to this position. It must be a mistake in the main article.
See more info here: http://www.mcall.com/news/local/all-4acerramar01,0,7856297.story - brickbat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Man, when I saw the story about Ted Haggard, I thought..."ok now THAT is unique." Now this - What is it about meth that makes people do crazy ***** AND go gay?
- weareallzombies, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6To be fair, he wasn't the one SELLING the drugs.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Woops, spelled principal wrong, apparently the wrong school was no school.
- weareallzombies, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The most recent story is here:
http://www.mcall.com/news/local/all-qt2mar02,0,2763847.story?coll=all-news-hed
I've been following this case with interest, mainly because I'm from the area and went to shows with students from that school. I find it particularly amusing that out of all the troubling behaviors from this principal, when asked by the Morning Call about Acerra's record, the superintendent replies with "That is none of your business. You can dig all you want. I'm a little tired of how The Morning Call is besmirching this district." and hangs up the phone.
Oh, gosh, god forbid the DISTRICT get a bad name because of this, rather than the individual. - lewscroo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Principal getting caught selling meth...not good
Caught while naked and jerking off to porn in office...uh oh
Porn happens to be GAY porn...about the worst day possible - csnoke, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8"a school in the United States"
This story is rubbish, they can't even name the town where it "took place." - weareallzombies, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Shoddy reporting on the part of the UK paper. He's actually 50, and has been an "educator" for 28 years.
- DDRRE, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6@eywanadi
Well, now that he's a 28-year-old principal, this article makes more sense. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Yeah if by "drugs" you mean "your ***** blog" and "on school"(sic) you mean "on the internet"
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The article does NOT mention where this happened. It's a UK website, but they are quoting US dollars.
- atrain15, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Not a mug shot, but there is a picture of him here
http://willdo.philadelphiaweekly.com/archives/2007/03/john_accera_is.html - r0t0r00t, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Oh come on, like you guys don't watch porn and smoke meth. Hippocrits.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Ummm... is there any other way to watch porn?
- r00ts, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Yes.. yes you are.
- DivisibleByZero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Granted, the US is bigger than a lot of other countries.... But if the story was in Uganda, you wouldn't care if they named the city or not.
- vagarach, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Do a little reading on wikipedia, and ye shall learn why the drug is popular in those circles.
- BuzzLightyear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So if the drugs charge doesn't stick, at least they've ruined his reputation with accusations about him w*nking at work to gay pr0n.
Innocent until proven.. ooops, too late. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3What is it with gays and speed anyway? First you had the whole fiasco with the preacher and speed and the gay massage dude, now this.
- WavyLayz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Instead of just saying the United States, they should at least say the city or state where this white trash principal could possibly be in charge of a school.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@doctorsax "Metro's a free paper... if they sensationalise, it's because their journalists are bottom-of-the-barrel crap merchants"
Not necessarily true. Free newspapers make tons of revenue from advertisements, and boasts the largest circulation since anything free is more popular than anything you buy. Also, free newspapers like Metro are actually owned by larger newspaper companies trying to target people in their early 20's to 30's, educated professionals who may not otherwise buy and read newspapers, and the ads are targeted towards them. I would say their journalists are well-paid. - TonyCubed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What I find funny about stories like this is that. These people spend most of their life getting to the top, working hard and studying hard. Then they do a stupid thing like this and their qualifications and achievements are quickly blown to pieces because of having a rep like Selling drugs.
- sjspread, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Now that's what I call a sticky situation!
- sygyzy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The guy has been a principal since he was 23? What kind of town is this?
- cheezdoodle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think it's important for kids to know that going to the office is a punishment. Don't we always tell kids to behave? Well here's all the more reason...
"Mommy, I was talking in class and the teacher told me to stop. Then, when I kept talking, my teacher sent me to the office and the principal was making white pee-pee."
BTW, I agree with a previous comment, how in the world is he 28 years old and been a principal since 2000? Teachers have to jump through so many hoops to get and keep their teaching certificates. How does this guy become a principal before the age that most people have graduated from undergrad? - sheik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"they found him naked while sitting at his desk watching gay pornography."
later on in the story...
"he was found with a burned glass pipe and $200 in cash on his desk, minutes after a confidential informant wearing a wire attempted to buy meth from him"
So let me get this straight. Someone tried to buy meth from him, left his office, and within minutes he had stripped naked and started watching gay porn?
Something seems a little fishy here... - Hamsterpotpies, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This story made my morning.
- diggsIt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Those two ought to hook-up and party.
- LilRabbitFooFoo, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1I just want to know why this guy is getting arrested and going to jail while Ted Haggert gets to lie, cry, go into rehab, and walk away with money in the bank...for the exact same situation?
I say put both of them in the cell together. Then we'll know whether Ted's really "gone straight". :) - dreampilot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1look at you fools. one website says he's "28" and you all freak out. For christs sake -READ. And the man is gay. If you READ the other articles - it says it. So what kind of porn did you expect him to watch - straight porn?
- AimlessAbyss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Jay Leno did a joke on this. He said what the story was, then: "Luckily, it was just his lunch break. He returned to work immediately afterwards."
- raithetarkon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@cornswalled
He's 50, and went to college. Just stop talking. - inv1c7u5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1LOL
- Sell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Damn thats a fat sack of *****.
- boypinoy18, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2he's your princi-PAL. now that's just awfully cute.
never had a pal before that loved watching dudes bang each other while smokin meth.
yeah, i'm gonna pass on that - raithetarkon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2FYI. Crystal Meth isn't the same thing as speed.
- DryerBiscuit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And I thought I was having a bad day.
- pplude92, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0First off, what the hell! Secondly, I agree that the porno want printed because of the "political corectness" of it. Frankly, if you are covering something as big as this, there is no need to sell us on the small details like that, but they add to an interesting story.
- ckrhines, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I grew up in Bethlehem (and actually had John Acerra for a teacher in middle school). I definitely tried to stick around Bethlehem as much as possible, as opposed to hanging out in Allentown. There a few nicer areas in Allentown, but when Acerra lived...... well, I wouldn't be driving through there at night.
