- LogicBomB, on 10/12/2007, -3/+342This would be an asbsolutely genious marketing move for the movie.
- robfarrell, on 11/27/2008, -8/+328Thank you come again!
- Aeaus, on 10/12/2007, -5/+249I agree, genius marketing move. At least they won't have to convert their workers for an accurate representation.
- himey, on 10/12/2007, -10/+156Best. Marketing. Ever.
- crawfishsoul, on 10/12/2007, -6/+85"This would be an asbsolutely genious marketing move for the movie."
Absolutely genius for 7-eleven as well. You know sales will be up exponentially at those 11 stores. Who wouldn't want to be able to say they got a slushy at Kwik-e-Mart? - underthelinux, on 10/12/2007, -1/+79Im double posting this so this gets through to the idiots who decide to get offended by this. :: ahem :: krish. Please don't speak on the behalf of indians.
This is NOT racist. The kwik-e-mart was clearly modeled after 7-11 (and other convenience stores). NOTHING IN THE ARTICLE SAYS ANYTHING ABOUT INDIANS.
I am indian, so don't pull that you don't get it *****. Do NOT disgrace the indian community by being offended by something that is CLEARLY not targeted at indians. - TenebrousX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+76Being human, I find you easily offended
- TenebrousX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+74I'm American, my culture is routinely made to be the butt of jokes
- ProximaC, on 10/12/2007, -2/+71"Please do not offer my God a peanut!"
- everfresh59, on 10/12/2007, -1/+62Awesome.....now all we need is for Budweiser to create a limited edition 6 pack of Duff Beer!! WooHoo!!
- XISUPERMANIX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+60I doooo
- Coffeedemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+54"most of us have DEGREES"
Umm so does Apu... he represents the overskilled immigrant who due to cockups in the system wasn't recognized for what he knew and had to run the kwikimart.
Much like many of the doctors who drive cabs and clean floors in many major cities. - squishee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+53crawfishsoul,
You mean who wouldn't want to be able to say they got a squishee at a Kwik-E-Mart... - catfish182, on 10/12/2007, -3/+50@sunnyd,
Convert them ?....
Yeah sure... take a few seconds and a jacket change.
:) - ProximaC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+45Apu is the stereotypical 7/11 owner
Snake is the stereotypical criminal
Burns is the stereotypical greedy republican business owner
Homer is the stereotypical fat lazy stupid american
Bart is the stereotypical rebel
Smithers is the stereotypical sycophant
Bumblebee Man is the stereotypical mexican tv star
Comic Book Guy is the stereotypical nerd
Frink is the stereotypical geek
on and on and on
The entire show is built upon satirical views of all popular culture in America today, as are nearly all of the more popular comedy shows on TV.
This show is a stereotype of American Culture, not just of Hindus. You're not that special. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+46@krish: I work with several Indians. They all have degrees. They all are professionals. They all have at least one relative locally, who runs a Subway or a 7-11 or a unbranded convenience store.
And you know what? The ones that work in these stores... make more money. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+43Duff Man is thrusting in the direction of the Problem!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+37People make fun of me for being a christian, southern, truck driver with a mulet and a confederate flag on the back of my truck...
- jmchez, on 10/12/2007, -1/+32As I commented on Gadling:
This is too funny! I guess that 7-11 is living by the dictum that any publicity is good publicity.
Among the unsavory things that the KiwkEMart is known for and that I can remember off the top of my head, the following are just a few: It sells old food as fresh, get robbed on a regularly planned schedule, raises prices as soon as a crisis is foreseen, sells hard core pornography, has a secret clean rest room hidden from clients, will charge you for a magazine if you browse it for more than 20 seconds, works its employees to exhaustion.
Good thing the show is only cartoon satire. Or is it? - aceman118, on 10/12/2007, -5/+34@krish548
Its not racists its stereotyping. No on is claiming superiority. If there was a post about a rich computer geek and someone said, "oh i bet he was an east indian." would you still be pissed? - underthelinux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+28This is NOT racist. - seiha, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26this would be incredible
- jgrgg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23cant wait to see an episode of stupidest criminals where a guy impersonates Snake...

- berwiki, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22krish548, you are a baby.
thank you, never come to digg again! (said in *insulting* Apu tone) - praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -0/+21Now imagine if they actually sold Duff...
- thegreeneyedkri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19I'm Canadian French and Polish. Let's not talk about being the butt of people's jokes huh? Plus, I'm not sure what is offending you, but the Simpsons make fun of EVERYTHING they even have all the Italian people being mobsters, so you really can't be offended by this and believe for some reason that you are of the only ethnicity they show as a stereotype.
- ArthurSucks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19Thanks to the Simpsons, I've called them Squishies for YEARS. Now I can have a cup that says it too?
- tidu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18This is madness.
- doshindude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18If they were really dying, they would've been cancelled years ago.
The show is not on any terms on life support. - mrharvey518, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16This is not a library.
- wozley, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Just had to out do me, huh?
- wozley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17Who needs the Kwik-E-Mart?
http://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/thesimpsons/whoneedsthekwik-e-mart.htm - zephc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17Will it be only a $100 fine to shoot the store clerk?
- jmp478, on 10/12/2007, -8/+22Will they have squishy machines?
- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I hope they get the same alarm system
SILENT ALARM ACTIVATED. - fivestarsoul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14What about Duff Beer?
- chucksmooth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14@techmonk
thats exactly why they do need to market, there is no longer any kind of buzz surrounding the show - blackey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS FINALLY! SQUISHIES!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Because people watch it out of habit. I've not laughed at the simpsons in about 5 years. (maybe a chuckle here and there) yet, there I am watching it Sunday night.
Then I see Seasons 1 through 5 in syndication and remember how great they were... - edeliz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11"
That is different. Have they ever made it so the WHOLE NATION can see it? Exactly."
Beverly Hill Billy's? , Blue Collar TV, NELSON FROM THE SIMPSONS? - slackerbox, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Ahaha! Krish's posts are even more entertaining than the article!
- tonton2012, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10THIS IS SPRINGFIELD!!!!!

- mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Please call the support number to an outsourced complaints department which probably is in India....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Actually, the guy with over 25 diggs for saying "I dooo" beat both of you. Yep, it's not that hard to impress us diggers.
- Xarou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9How so? You're complaining about stereotyping, I just listed off a whole bunch of stereotypes. Plus edeliz gave the examples of
Beverly Hill Billy's? , Blue Collar TV, NELSON FROM THE SIMPSONS?
How is this any different than what you are going through? - stlcadet11, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10@techmonk
...then why even market at all?
/sarcasm - mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Somehow I always imagine Chief Wiggum to be working in Boston after that incident...
See ya in court, Simpson. Oh, and bring that evidence with ya, otherwise, I got no case and you'll go scot-free.
All right, you scrawny beanpoles: becoming a cop is not something that happens overnight. It takes one solid weekend of training to get that badge.
No jury in the world is going to convict a baby ... Maybe Texas.
Oh, sure. We'd all love some real friends, Marge. But what are the odds of that happening?
I hope this has taught you kids a lesson: kids never learn.
Fat Tony is a cancer on this fair city! He is the cancer and I am the ... uh ... what cures cancer?
This is Papa Bear. Put out an APB for a male suspect, driving a... car of some sort, heading in the direction of, uh, you know, that place that sells chili. Suspect is hatless. Repeat, hatless.
She didn't reckon with the awesome power of the Chief of Police! Now where did I put my badge?...Hey, that duck's got it!
Can't you people take the law into your own hands? I mean, we can't be policing the entire city! -
