- OPMT, on 10/11/2007, -3/+56Looks like something out of F-Zero
- HammerAndBoner, on 10/11/2007, -3/+50Buried for the lack of Jackie Chan or Owen Wilson.
- bdub92, on 10/11/2007, -1/+35Oh, thank god, i saw the title and thought it was going to be another Owen Wilson and Jackie Chan movie...
- noPCtoday, on 10/11/2007, -4/+38Does anyone else noticed the air is severely polluted?
- kev26, on 10/11/2007, -0/+26Something right out of Blade Runner.
- bigpixl, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14Looks like I have a new wallpaper.
- hanapbuhay, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12Give this guy some direct pageviews: http://flickr.com/photos/92706698@N00/537350642/
- krakbabie, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12I was in Shanghai in April, the pollution is incredibly bad. Much worse then anything I have seen in the US. My eyes were burning after 2 weeks.
- chris4404, on 10/11/2007, -3/+11Spam pictures like we spammed the HDDVD key.
- terencec, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8hong kong looks better in my opinion... cleaner too
- Netrilix, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Sorry, no. I'm not disputing your facts or anything. I'm just disputing your use of "ironic". You'd be closer to irony if the air WASN'T going to be polluted in the future like it is in the futuristic-looking Shanghai picture. The fact that the futuristic Shanghai picture and the future both have lots of pollution? That would be a coincidence. So please, please, please only use irony in cases where the result is the OPPOSITE of what's expected.
- noPCtoday, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6hell
- arcarael, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5that's two (2) words, my friend
- sethosayher, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I'm putting that up as wallpaper, but that doesn't hide the fact that the city is actually extremely polluted. That's the price of China's extraordinary economic growth.
- PaulOwen, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6DEMOCRATIC CHINA'S CITY POLLUTION FREE, HAPPY WORKER!
- d686, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4they know... they discussed it on the last diggnation. they're "working on it". maybe they're trying to implement something with their own hosting and working on the legal issues... who knows..
- ShrimpCrackers, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Except when you play F-Zero you don't get as much pollution, especially the pollution stains on the window from where this picture was taken from (look in the upper right corner, its quite disgusting, as it gives you an idea how much exotic acid rain Shanghai gets).
- reckless8594, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4In the sky stupid.
- Trax91, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I've been there and the view was spectacular.
- StickyFumblings, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Once you live there, it's not that nice or beautiful.
- polymorphist, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Americans think everyone else hates them...I call it paranoia city.
- bnolsen, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Well, I for one feel far safer in Shanghai than I do most cities in the US. I'm not sure why.
The back streets do have some garbage, sadly the zoo looks like a garbage dump.
But honestly Shanghai is not a bad city considering it's vast population.
Actually I guess the thing I notice most about Shanghai is how really non international it looks compared to any American or European city I've been to. Population is probably 99.95% chinese. I stick out like sore thumb everywhere there. - rgov, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Looks like something straight out of %MAIL_MERGE_SCIFI_TITLE%.
- rnnbob, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2How could we get one?
- theysayjump, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2That's one of the most beautiful and amazing skyline pictures I've ever seen.
- donkeyshow, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Hooray Pollution! Great sunsets with all the smog..
- HappyScrappy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2It's photoshopped. "HDR".
The bright parts come from a fast photo, the dark parts from a slow one.
Just look at the part of the building in the lower right and you can see it is too bright/detailed compared to the other objects in the photo which are actually self-lit. - crackedplastic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2You think that will stop people from posting pictures elsewhere? Look what happened to the videos section.
- crackedplastic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2What's up with this guy's blog? He gets hits for other people's content on Flickr? Jeez. And that particular image is AAR as well.
- JustSomeDood, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Beautiful picture, but yea, where is the pollution. I worked in Shanghai for over two years and I can tell you the air quality was horrid. Not only that but the noise was terrible. Shanghai truly is a great city to travel to. They have some great bars and restaurants. The interesting thing about Shanghai is that you can be looking at some of the most modern looking buildings in the world and just a block or two away you'll find the cardboard shacks and beggars. Though not the cleanest place on the planet it's still a very interesting place to visit.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Actually, that's an absurdly clear day. Many days you couldn't see across the river from here. Some days you can't see the GROUND from 20 floors higher than this pic was taken.
- o0o0steve, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Interesting.. Motion blur on the river and the brightness of the photo both indicate an obvious slow shutter, but how come the car lights aren't blurry? Is everyone parked?
- polymorphist, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Well, if you think pollution in Shanghai is bad, don't go anywhere near Beijing :)
- isage, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4This is what it looks like at street level:
http://acn.themes.tucows.com/images/shots/wallpaper/shangiknights1-1024x768.jpg - reflex768, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Thanks. Missed that.
- Mouser58907, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Those ads really ruin the landscape.
- pyry, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Sounds like something to keep me occupied with photoshop for a few hours...
- fixedcoma, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Finally at least cannibal noticed! Yeah , the building in the fronyt is pretty neat looking, but you can't even see past two miles or hardly see the clouds from all the pollution. I wonder what their life expectancy is? Kind of wonder if they're try and make the yellow sea really yellow with pollution?!!
- polymorphist, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1The life expectancy in Shanghai is on par with that of a developed country, inconveniently true...
BTW, the yellow river is actually yellow and nowhere near Shanghai. - crashflow, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3CARDBOARD DUMPLINGS TASTE GREAT, CONTENTED CITIZENS WOULD LIKE SOME MORE!
- twrife, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I'm surprised you can see anything due to pollution.
- chenbot, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Shanghai is split into 2 parts, Pudong and Puxi, The names mean "East of the river" and "West of the river" respectively. It's true that Pudong was all farm land 15 years ago, but to say that one of them is the real Shanghai and the other is not is kind of dumb.
Also, I'm pretty sure no one would say Brooklyn is not NYC. - rwelsh, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Dugg because I like the photo, but at least have the decency to link back to the photographer's Flickr page so he gets the hits and exposure for his work...
- hedde, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Beautiful. I just put it in my inspiration del.icio.us account for my upcoming Internet-series. Thanks!

http://www.andrehedetoft.com - triath, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Maybe the Phoenix area, but no where else.
- mjordan4343, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1BRING IT BACK!!!
- raymore, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1F-Zero, is that the game where you race the hella sweet space hover things? if so,well, yeah I agree.
- EndlessSadness, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Good question, all I knew is all the office buildings have to turn off the lights after work if no on staying. Those apartment buildings next to that river are just built, and very pricy, basically no one lives in there.
