- caruso, on 07/13/2009, -39/+952Well, you wanted independence. ^^
- LiquidIse, on 07/13/2009, -34/+791It makes perfect sense:
Darwin is from england
God is from kentucky - estate, on 07/13/2009, -66/+684Now THAT'S someone worthy of being put on a bank note.
- seantubridy, on 07/13/2009, -48/+604Put George Carlin on a bill.
- MrJagil, on 07/13/2009, -7/+486***** title
- atgmac, on 07/13/2009, -9/+448Which would be a good thing, except that a year or so ago it was worth $20.
- had3l, on 07/13/2009, -26/+386Doesn't mean we have to.
Jesus was a Jew, but his followers clearly aren't. - oriondr, on 07/13/2009, -34/+344Darwin did not believe in God, if you had studied/read anything about his life, you would know that. He always struggled with the question. I studied him and his faith for my Senior thesis in British History. He wrote several letters confirming his doubt, and he only hid his agnosticism (read: didn't believe in any gods) to protect his wife from knowing.

It really kind of boils my blood to see great men slandered like this; They try to do it with Einstein (an atheist) as well. - deathandtaverns, on 07/13/2009, -6/+307I like that we put "In God We Trust" on the back of the only god we really care about.
- SteelChicken, on 07/13/2009, -15/+313So many morons, so little time to bury them all.
- chadsexingtime, on 07/13/2009, -25/+299I'm waiting for US jesus coins
- seantubridy, on 07/13/2009, -10/+259Correct. Money has been around a long time.
- BuffaloCapone, on 07/13/2009, -2/+216OMG Darwin hid his name in his beard!!!
- TobiasParker, on 07/13/2009, -20/+205You just pwnd a continent. I salute you Guv'nar. I will be fetching that tea out of the Atlantic now.
- shadowflame, on 07/13/2009, -105/+265old
- gentlax13, on 07/13/2009, -6/+150Not a big deal. Darwin was British and God is American. Makes sense they should be on their own currencies.
- Tanktunker, on 07/13/2009, -20/+141I think that the point is that while England recognizes an important scientific figure whose contribution to modern biology goes unmatched, America recognizes an invisible sky magacian.
- Bermygoon, on 07/13/2009, -1/+110a continent
? - soupdawg30, on 07/13/2009, -244/+349Darwin believed in God.
- Calamier, on 07/13/2009, -4/+102Cows will be grazing on the grass your decomposing body helped to create, that's about all your body will enjoy after death.
And then those cows will be slaughtered and turned into Big Macs.
OH THE CIIIIIIIIIRCLE OF LIIIIIIIIIIIIIFE (Sung to the lion king theme) - BasalCellBossk, on 07/13/2009, -2/+99I notice you still speak their language.
- pinchduck, on 07/13/2009, -8/+105Hey, what do you get when you take a bunch of the religious whackos from a particularly religiously whacky time in Europe and concentrate them in one country? A country full of concentrated religious whackos. They have been diluted on a per-capita basis over the last few centuries, but the whackos have responded by circling the wagons, concentrating in ever-tighter groups, and coming up with even whackier *****.
- CarStan, on 07/13/2009, -6/+97The 7$ bill!
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 07/13/2009, -3/+87Ok Britain.. .You win, this time.
- vegr, on 07/13/2009, -8/+90no, but you apparently have a church-sponsored State.
- Yodzilla, on 07/13/2009, -30/+106you people are all ***** retarded
- geoman2k, on 07/13/2009, -7/+81"In God we Trust" doesn't mean you have to either
- jammerml, on 07/13/2009, -3/+75oh puhlease...I live in KY....God is not from here....I assure you.....
- mathyu21, on 07/13/2009, -10/+81Richard Dawkins makes this exact reference in a Ted talk, says something like "I dont mean to brag but *shows slide of US/UK currency comparison*. Please watch, so good.
http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/richard_dawkins_ ... - DangerCollie, on 07/13/2009, -11/+82We'd like to return some of these Republicans as defective. Where's the customer service window?
- FeargusMcDuff, on 07/13/2009, -4/+70Doesnt say that on any of our coins!
- TobiasParker, on 07/13/2009, -4/+70The founding fathers were not against taxes, no matter what crackpots seem to say. They were against Taxation without Representation, meaning they were being taxed but had no seat in the government in which to voice their opinions and push their own agenda.
And melting pot refers to cultural differences being assimilated into an "American" culture comprised of all of its constituent parts.
So...Your post makes literally no sense. - Leathersoup, on 07/13/2009, -4/+68There's more proof to evolution than there is to the existence of any god...
- kinerry, on 07/13/2009, -11/+74which happened to be the summer i stayed there...fml
- resueht, on 07/13/2009, -8/+70Wrong. Agnostic would be the appropriate word here. Darwin still looked to God and the Bible for moral guidance in is mid-years, but he didn't believe in the design stuff. Later in life, he began questioning everything, as a good scientist should. Was never atheist.

In the UK the customer service window is currently partially closed and only staffed by either an apathetic or bizarrely openly hostile person. You will have to queue for approximately 1.5 hours on your lunch break... when you get to the front of the queue you will be provided with a 12 page form to fill out which will be promptly lost on completion.
You will receive notification that you can return the items only within a two week time frame of you applying for the return. The letter will arrive 3 weeks too late. You will them have to ring a 0845 number where you will be placed on hold for 2-3 hours. When you finally get thru to an operator it will be to a Indian or Scottish person who you find impossible to understand. You will then give up, hang up and complain about the weather. - Chrysalii, on 07/13/2009, -3/+58Too bad it's only worth 4.64 Kuwaiti Dinars.
- inactive, on 07/13/2009, -7/+60That's because the U.S. Treasury actually exists...
- oriondr, on 07/13/2009, -13/+66Agnosticism does mean you don't believe in any gods. It just means you don't actively believe that there is no god.
Not believing in god != Believing there is no god. - alpha88, on 07/13/2009, -3/+49Jesus had self esteem issues?
- powatom, on 07/13/2009, -9/+55Gimme a break - America is far more mouth-foamingly religious than the UK. We have a state church, yes - but nobody is forced to go.
- GeorgeStone2, on 07/13/2009, -3/+46The British empire was the worlds biggest empire to date.
Putting the word FALLEN into it makes little difference.
We were also the ones that thought "Hmm, wait a second. Maybe black people are people too"
To which we outlawed the slave trade around the world which then forced the US to do the same one year later.
We were the first people to enter into WW2 after seeing what Hitler was doing to europe.
I wish we could still throw our weight around :/ - gweedo767, on 07/13/2009, -5/+47Zoom in fail!
- tomjowitt, on 07/13/2009, -23/+65You can believe in God without trusting him.
- bysin, on 07/13/2009, -5/+47Darwin had a concentration camp? Holy crap, I thought he was just a scientist who studied living organisms.
- Suricou, on 07/13/2009, -5/+47We lost the empire. But we made the modern world.
Industrial revolution? Mostly british in origin. Global communications? British - we invented most of the telegraphy technology and laid the first undersea cables. We had to - couldn't control a global empire without them. The United States is an offshoot of our own culture. So is Canada, and Australia, and quite a few other places. If they speak english or drive on the left, you can thank the british empire for that. We no longer rule the world, but our legacy will endure for millenia. - ryrocker, on 07/13/2009, -7/+49if jesus was jewish does that mean he didnt believe in himself?
- GeorgeStone2, on 07/13/2009, -4/+46The CCTV reports are all *****, btw. Anyone living in the UK will know that (Which is why only Americans baaaw about it).
The government own probably 1% of them, with private owners filling in the other 99%. -
