- jimmiss, on 10/11/2007, -10/+283Good thing too, otherwise these 18 year olds might have found out about these 'gay' people that exist.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -15/+237The vast majority of people still like straight sex, so what are they afraid of, that everyone will turn gay if we see pictures of gay people doin it?
- Leomarth, on 10/11/2007, -14/+229Seeing gay people will turn you gay, like seeing tall people will make you tall.
- Gadren, on 10/11/2007, -7/+166Considering that the person who submitted the picture had to pay money to get it in, and that the school officials damaged the yearbooks of EVERY student by marking the picture out after they were printed, at the very least the submitter of the picture, as well as every student, should get a refund. That'll make the officials think twice about unilaterally bringing their bigotry on everyone else through vandalism.
Money is a powerful motivator. - jonthebishop, on 10/11/2007, -11/+139Don't look at that picture, you might catch the gay.

Good old Fox News - TheLoneWolf071, on 10/11/2007, -5/+82Unless they censor every picture of someone kissing, they shouldn't have any grounds for it...
- rootishome, on 10/11/2007, -6/+77My school did this EXACT same thing! The entire Senior class gathered in the field house to take the yearly Senior panoramic photo two years ago, and two males were kissing in it and school officials used a marker to scribble out their lips. You could still partially see their faces and see that it was definitely two boys kissing. A boy and girl were kissing two rows behind the boys and the school officials didn't do ANYTHING to them. The school was in an uproar and school officials never actually released a statement.
- 0260, on 10/11/2007, -10/+79in my high school prom a dude won prom queen. get with the times, squares
- Anrkist, on 10/11/2007, -12/+66See what happens when you let Ellen come out of the closet? Everyone turns gay!
- jbaez, on 10/11/2007, -3/+46I agree. They should either get a whole new year book or a refund. I live not too far from that school cause I'm in the same city.
#1 if they had such a problem with it they should have brought it up with the student BEFORE the manufacturing of the book
#2 the picture was NOT inappropriate Ive see MUCH MUCH worse in year books
#3 as a gay male i find it extremely offending that on the next page there is a heterosexual couple kissing in much the same manner as the 2 gay teens...double standards anyone? definite violation of rights there... - Leomarth, on 10/11/2007, -0/+42Yes, you're safe, until you start hanging around hetero midget conventions.
- BlackAle, on 10/11/2007, -4/+42I'm already tall & gay, so I guess I'm safe.
- elsJake, on 10/11/2007, -1/+34Hey i don't mind , more chicks for me... less competition and all.
- sibhod, on 10/11/2007, -7/+40a few decades ago this would happen with an interracial kiss, and i find this censorship no less abhorrent
- meggani, on 10/11/2007, -5/+37But did they allow pictures of straight people kissing?
- Empyrean, on 10/11/2007, -1/+30And just think, if they wouldn't have marked it out, then it probably wouldn't be spread all over the internet now, way to censor!
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -5/+34I'm pretty sure being gay is about as natural as being straight. Hell, it never was a choice for me. I always knew I liked boobies.
- Pix869, on 10/11/2007, -2/+28Afraid of parental backlash?
All parental backlash would do is make parents look like *****, I don't see anything wrong with knowing who to hate.
Of course, it could be argued that no pictures showing romance between people be shown in a school yearbook, but only marking out a gay kiss is obviously not down that road of thought. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -8/+34I'd rather not see two people, gay or straight, kissing in a yearbook.
- lhnz, on 10/11/2007, -3/+24Does this mean I'm gay? : (
- djdigital, on 10/11/2007, -12/+32The Picture
http://img2.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/99e23dde7a.jpg - praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -1/+20Yeah, I just looked at it too.
So...wanna meet up sometime? - Pfhreak, on 10/11/2007, -5/+23*looks at the picture*
*is neither turned on nor repulsed*
*thinks about Jessica Alba* ... yummy. I'm still apparently straight. Guess I must be immune/resistant to teh ghey. - bwells78, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18...says the ignorant straight person who has never had to deal with questioning their sexuality.
- CthulhuDawn, on 10/11/2007, -15/+32While the school's administration probably had some homophobic motive for removing the picture, I don't think it's a bad thing that they marked it out. I know at my high-school they wouldn't have allowed a picture like this into the yearbook gay or straight. The yearbook just isn't a place for close-ups of couples making out. Sexual orientation shouldn't matter.
- jd33, on 10/11/2007, -0/+16"What do kids kissing each other have to do with going to school?"
\A true digger... lol. - futurebird, on 10/11/2007, -2/+18Yes.
- Jambi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15It's true, just last week I ran into Shaquille O'Neal at a coffee shop, and now I'm so tall I'm going to need to buy a new car...I just can't fit in my old one.
- rnwen2750, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14Well, Bovox must not be very good at biology, because if s/he was, s/he would know that not all sex in the world is heterosexual. And that not all creatures have sex.
- sibhod, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16only ignorant religious bigots still try to claim homosexuality is a choice
- Squar3d, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14Then you better not look at pictures of straight midgets!
- AMD64MM, on 10/11/2007, -6/+19Yeah, that's exactly what ignorant people think will happen.
- danakin, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14They could have at least used Photoshop...
- SPECOPS, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13Wow, imagine the horror when those same children exposed to years and years of Santa Cluas images, discover he isn't natural, but a fantasy. Most of them survive that. And besides, like others above have pointed out, it's not a lifestyle choice, they were born that way. Ask any of them that you know.
- Jwoey, on 10/11/2007, -8/+20Don't you understand!? As soon as children (our most precious resource) realize that Gays truly exist, they might falsely begin to believe that Gays should have rights, or be treated with respect! You don't want that, do you? Remember, God is watching.
- satx, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13I doubt it would have been censored.
- ImOnlySleeping, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12Homosexuality does not provide any additional physical stimulation that heterosexuality could provide.
Question.
With that being the case, why would anyone CHOOSE to put up with a society that is biased against homosexuality when it provides nothing but additional hardships? - rnwen2750, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12Sure, but that usually requires that the joke be funny and not a blatant slam against homosexuality.
- dcoolidge, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10EW NOW I AM GAY!
- AMD64MM, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11Exactly, people need to accept other people.
- carpespasm, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11i don't see why you guys are saying he's not fine with it. in the sense that it doesn't visually appeal to him he's not fine with it, but as long as he's willing to let others do what they do and not try to stop them i'd say it's fine enough. just because you don't like watching boxers beat each other bloody doesn't mean you want it censored. chill out guys.
- neptytune, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Actually, you have proven yourself wrong. The gay gene lies dormant and possibly is a form of population control. In addition, many gay species adopt orphaned children in nature, just take a look at the recent penguin incident. So the gay gene wouldn't be weeded out, but it is as american as apple pie and as natural as heterosexual sex. The issue is that a large part of the religious right doesn't want to accept homosexuals. Funny how everyone refers back to the old testament for ammunition against homosexuality, but in the new testament Peter has a vision of things that were once unclean are now clean. Homosexuality isn't on the ten commandments and isn't in anything Jesus ever spoke of (which Jesus basically gave on single rule). But a large part of the religious right wants to enforce their own rules with the interpretation of the bible. This isn't anything new, just look to the last wave of civil rights and what the religious fanatics said then.
- zeblith, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Because it's linked right from the damn article, perhaps?
- rnwen2750, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9*steals idea and patents new therapy*
- psplayer6, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Did the article REALLY continue below?
- Ndiggnation, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8About evolution weeding out the "gay gene"...There is a theory that some societies supression of homosexuality, may actually help further it. By forcing the homosexual men to marry and of course, conceive children (who may or may not have the genetic-predisposition), this passes along the "gay genes".
There is also the idea that, even though homosexuals may not procreate, they may have a stronger nuturing aspect to their own family's children, increasing their chances of survival. This, again, may help pass along the genetic preference that may exist in a set of familial genes. - neptytune, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Actually you are wrong, the majority favors gays and lesbians. Look at the recent Pew Research Center's survey on gay and lesbians.
http://people-press.org/reports/display.php3?ReportID=273 - 4degrees, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8agreed, since the school "Described (it) as "illicit" and provocative" they damn well should censor anything else of that nature. but we all know that they wont, and that "Described as "illicit" and provocative" is not the REAL reason why it was censored.
- lydecker, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9I'd agree, maybe some stuff like this is in my yearbook, but it needn't be.
The thing is, the other pictures of couples kissing mentioned should have also been blacked out. Actually rejected.
That not happening makes it sadly homophobic. -
