- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -18/+89Hi Emo. I'm Sockpuppets.
- deboosher, on 10/12/2007, -1/+47oh man... that picture with the kid being stalked by the vulture makes me sick.
- aston127, on 10/12/2007, -1/+39Description says the photographer committed suicide a few weeks after receiving the Pulitzer Prize... one can assume he felt guilty from capitalizing on this poor childs misfortune

Ice storm is real.

Half shark is real.

The lighthouse is real and is a very famous photo by French photographer Jean Guichard.
http://www.jean-guichard.com/
The tanker going into the hurricane is indeed not going into an actual hurricane, but just a storm. But there's no mention on this forum that it's anything more than that. It is certainly not a 'fake photo' or something that has been 'photoshoped'.

EDIT: After seeing various other replies here who agree with monkeywizard, I just want to add a something that may get me dugg down.
You people should CHECK before you call something fake. Idiots. - redfishbluefish, on 10/12/2007, -1/+35The last picture of the little child breaks my heart. Any time I need some perspective in my life I will try to remember that image.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+33One of the images from the site: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/149/354023520_4cd4c4def1_o.jpg
The picture was taken by Kevin Carter. He committed suicide at age 33, which many say he felt sorry that he did not intervene for saving the child.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Carter - RichardHendrix, on 10/12/2007, -5/+26My god! What has the world come to when a man will sit, watch, and even take a picture or two of a poor starving child when he gets eaten alive by a ***** bird!
- Bullsnot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15I don't think the photographer in this case was so much trying to capitalize on the suffering of others as he was trying to do what he could to help them by showing the world the tragedy of their short terrible lives.

- BassCadet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12God, that picture of the trapped little boy (girl?) both scared the ***** out of me and made me very sad. What a horrible fate.
- firsttube, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12I love how the 'peacekeeper' drops nuclear weapons. Fate, it seems, is not without a sense of irony.
- arjayl642, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11@Alphabet
You're probably the most insensitive person I've seen on the internet - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10That picture of the trapped little girl messed me up a little.
- Sc0rned, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8The vulture stalking the kid tore me up...

http://www.worldvision.org/worldvision/eappeal.nsf/egift_feedhungrychildren - Hindu_Wardrobe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I'm not going to click that. I can't. I'll cry.
I'm serious. :'(
And once I read that the pictures were real, no way in hell am I clicking those links.
Call me a girly girl, but I have a way of making myself feel guilty for things I didn't do. (Yep, I'm ***** up.) - fakename311, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8There is a Documentary about Kevin Carter and that picture called "The Life of Kevin Carter." You might want to check that out before you judge someone that basically made people take notice of the problems of the Sudan with one picture.
- Juicey, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Yes the database connection error was a beautiful thing, simply amazing.
- SAOSiN, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Not to bitch but, you can't just judge how fast the site goes down by the number of diggs it gets. Many people click the links without digging, and some don't even have registered accounts. So your count of 31 diggs, could actually be 3100 hits. I understand how people make these assumptions, I just don't know if people take the time realize its more than us (registered digg accounts) that are visiting the website.
- Protoss, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Which ones specifically are proven fake? I'd just like to know as I thought all of them were real.
- captinherb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Damn, now that's some tough luck. yobenbo's first comment on Digg and the first person to reply is sockpuppets. Don't worry kid, he's a big softy once you get to know him
- hbweb500, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6http://duggmirror.com/offbeat_news/Scary_and_amazing_pics/
Worked for me. - Tobbz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5That has to be the cruelest thing I've seen in a long time.
First the picture of the helpless starving kid stalked by the vulture, and now this.. It makes me really sad. - reddevil3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I've seen a lot of horrible things on the net, but that was just awful.
Holy *****.... - mc1123, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7well, I don't apreciate the nerd comment, but it was done by using a panorama making program.
what's that, you ask? well you must not know, cuz ur not a "nerd." - roryy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Aww, that Omayra Sanchez story is touching.
BUT WHOA HOLY LAMPSHADE, BATMAN! That sub cruising the beach is awesome! - friend18, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7The Kevin Pulitzer picture is really sad. I read about it in a Pulitzer book I have. He was criticized for not helping and eventually committed suicide.
- Vokas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It says in the article why he did not help the child.
- Mitts, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7you really can't work out how to do that yourself? tragic. . . .
- zeero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Zhang Haiyin, director of the Shanghai Mental Consultation Center, said the people who buy these products are disturbed individuals who may take pleasure in seeing another living creature suffer because they can't achieve their own life goals.
"These people are most likely those who can't realize their own dreams."
yeah, not only that but these pieces of ***** don't deserve to live. how can you watch an innocent little animal get trampled to death and think that's sexy? i can't even comprehend this.
sorry for the double post. this just really outrages me. - aston127, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Maybe we should start some sort of club?
- Oldschoolhack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I suddenly can't eat my dollar menu McDonalds meal...
- missflibbles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I cried. What a horrible, awful woman. I wish I could find her and everyone responsible for that and put a blowtorch to their faces. I wish I was in a position to make them know what that feels like. I'm ashamed to belong to the same species as her.
- aston127, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I've got the first one framed on my wall, actually. Pretty cool.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3yikes :(
That totally just made me sad. - WildTang3nt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Heh, been using that Peacekeeper picture as my desktop background for a while now. It's a pretty cool picture. A lot of the rest are just tragic, really sad.
- chrism1128, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Please tell me the sharks are legit.

http://xmb.stuffucanuse.com.nyud.net:8080/xmb/viewthread.php?tid=2589 - TheBritishGuy1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Welcome to the real world, get out of your 'civilized' bubble, educate yourself on the situation, and do something about it.
- zeero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3im not gona look at the other pics, but if she stepped and killed that kitten, wow how i would love to come there and rip her ***** arms of then shove them down her throat. i hate people that are cruel to innocent animals. and the people that would watch that.. as a fetish... ***** i sometimes hate the human race.
man i want to beat that bitch with a brick so bad now. - ApplCmptrDood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3My god. I literally cried looking at that, along with the child getting watched by the vulture. Who the ***** could do such a gross thing to a defenseless animal (the kitten).
- KMartSheriff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I wish I could round up all people responsible for that and force them to eat each other. And if anyone refused they would have to peel their skin off with a potato peeler.
- byt123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I was wondering where that quote was from "Fate, it seems, is not without a sense of irony".. then found it; Morpheus - the Matrix
- Verdanic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Most likely, as the others said, photo stitching - however, there are 180 degree fish eye lenses as well. Not common, but they're around.
- Verdanic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think that ***** woman needs to take on a bulldozer. That's disgusting.
- f8pc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Panoramic mode with a modern digi cam and then use Photostitch after taking the pics one by one changing the angle every time.
- princessangry, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4the vulture one and the cat one shook me up....... I think it's time to start helping one another and realize that these wars we get into aren't the way to go we need to instead of spending all this money on killing others we need to start helping one another and take care of the planet. because without these animals we wouldn't be here ether.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I think the kitten pic is worse than the kid pic.
- quickgold192, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2or normal mode with an old camera and use autostitch
