- Alegoo92, on 10/10/2007, -25/+297The sitting on the rail for lunch thing is so f*d up.. i'd never be able to overcome that urge to push people off..
- jjk5, on 10/10/2007, -5/+244Doesn't sound like it's the picture that is ***** up...
- Mohdoo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+213And to think in each picture the photographer is even higher up
- Cybrwolf, on 10/10/2007, -15/+190Damn! These folks had bigger balls, then I ever will!
- Anrkist, on 10/10/2007, -5/+151I got vertigo just looking at those
- aknowles5139, on 10/10/2007, -5/+75I'm not afraid of heights, I'm afraid of falling... If I'm strapped in I'm perfectly fine.
- ElbridgeGerry, on 10/10/2007, -1/+65wow, great draw distance.
- bitmanx, on 10/10/2007, -2/+65I talked to a guy last year that changed the light bulbs on top of St. Louis Arch,, he said it's no different than falling from 20 feet except you have more time to think about it...
- slayerab, on 10/10/2007, -4/+66They all make climbing buildings/sitting on metal beams 600 ft. in the air look easy
- reddevil3, on 10/10/2007, -4/+63Why am I not surprised that most of them are in Manhattan?
- tlogank, on 10/10/2007, -6/+52Mine shrank to the size of M&M's (the plain kind-not the peanut or almond one's) then proceeded into my stomach just looking at these pics.
- jwolcott, on 10/10/2007, -0/+43They walk along the beam with no support.
- mmazing, on 10/10/2007, -1/+41This makes me very happy that I am a software engineer, oh sweet floor, I love thee.
- diablo75, on 10/10/2007, -5/+44My hands get all tingly looking at those. AHHH!
- Dereliction, on 10/10/2007, -1/+32The one with all the guys eating lunch is just hair-raising. It makes me think all sort of wacky things, such as:
How much would I (or you) require to work in a situation like that? $50/hr? $500? No amount at all?
What happens if one of the guys really did lose their balance and, as he toppled off, naturally grabbed at the fellow to his left and right? Is it likely that a chain reaction would occur, spilling them all from the vast height of the beam they lingered on? The thought strikes at me ... you might be the most comfortable fellow up there, but how about the guy sitting next to you?
What happens if you suddenly develop a panic attack up there? What if it is some other guy who does? How do you deal with a guy who has slipped beyond the edge of fear? It is a bit like swimming with a drowning person at that point ... his fear will drown you as well as he tugs and pulls at you in his panic.
Beyond, you have to imagine that even minor accidents can suddenly become harrowing or lethal, in work environments like that. Ever hit your thumb with a hammer and jerked away in pain? How about a mere moment of weakness or pain in your ankle from an oddly placed but otherwise normal step?
What did they do when a light rain or perhaps even a fog (or a passing cloud) deposited a nice slick bit of moisture? You have to imagine that there were some decent wind gusts up there as well, more than just unsettling ones I bet. - tech42er, on 10/10/2007, -4/+32Remind me not to eat lunch with you when high.
- Jolene, on 10/10/2007, -8/+30Did you just say you ate your balls..?
- knowyourrights, on 10/10/2007, -7/+29That first picture is just ridiculous
- adamchristopher, on 10/10/2007, -1/+22Ever since the first time I saw it as a kid, I wondered what it would be like to be the guy sitting in the middle of the group of guys all across the ibeam(?). what if you have to go to the bathroom?
- thelastcivilian, on 10/10/2007, -3/+23I love the fact that "literally" has to be added to the description. Nice user icon pizzler...
- clark24, on 10/10/2007, -0/+20Unzip and tell the guys to look the other way. From that high up nobody below will realize they're being pissed on anyway.
- seventoes, on 10/10/2007, -2/+22Noooo he didnt want you to tell him!
- Monstarr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18I'd be too scared to fart. Imagine. Lean to one side, and then.... you've launched yourself towards death.
- d2htornado, on 10/10/2007, -15/+31They probably had better grammar skills also. Remove comma. Then .ne. than.
- robds, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13I was standing on the glass floor of the CN Tower in Toronto when somebody hit me very hard from behind. I was angry and wheeled around....and saw that a nice old lady from India had fainted looking down and had crashed right into me!!
- 4UIDigg, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12if you do this 9-5 for several months, you'll get used to it after a while
- MyDigitalSin, on 10/10/2007, -4/+16i think I just crapped my pants..
- whatsthatsmell, on 10/10/2007, -4/+16I couldn't see anybodys balls in any of the pictures (thankfully)
- CTreps, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13And I can barely stand on the glass floor at the CN Tower...damn
- ByronT, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Command not recognized.
- CatalystGhost, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12God, can you imagine dropping your camera from there? That would suck... "*****, we just climbed all the way up here, too... *****... guess we should've brought another camera..."
- timmay, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10A true photographer will go the extra mile for the perfect photograph
- onimusha115, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10I'm glad they do it, and hope they get paid well. No amount of money could get me that high. I can admit it, I'm a sally.
- GliTCH82, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9I'm pretty sure if you fall off one of these buildings into any deep body of water, it would still feel the same as hitting concrete.
- 4040, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Unfortunately, you're not, and it isn't.
- adrianmonk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Oh, for $500/hr, I'd find a way to make it safe and be OK with it mentally. At $500/hr, I can retire in like 3 years. Even if there's a 5% or 10% chance of dying, that might be worth it.
- brokentone, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Except for the guy in the third photo. . .
- jet3004, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Great pics but I wish they weren't all bunched together.
- dezmo, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10my question is, how did they get on the beam in the first place? and how do they get off? don't tell me they walk along the beam with no support..
- HunterTV, on 10/10/2007, -5/+13"Pictures of people in high places..."
I know some high people in places. - reservoirdog, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7They began that shoot with 25 people, ya know...
- UberNick, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8"Scared of heights"
I am now. Thanks for nothing, submitter. - jesuswuzanalien, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9So you're saying they shrank from peanut m&m size to plain m%m size?
- pixelate, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Read the caption on the picture, dumbass.
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Vertigo_%28medical%29&oldid=146315369 - nogChoco, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9Hey I can see my house from there!
- limpl0uie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6The pic of the guys eating lunch on the beam makes me feel:
A) Vertigo
B) Like a pussy... - fluxboxuk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Believe me, if i were there id of already gone, right there on the beam (look out below)
- craprock, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9I'm not afraid of falling, I'm afraid of hitting the ground.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I'm the same way. I love climbing. I climb trees all the time and have climbed hundreds of feet into the air without breaking a sweat. It's when I get back down and I have to make that 6 foot jump to the ground that I am scared of. I hate falling.
- CatalystGhost, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7If you're drunk enough you can survive even higher :)
