  • SheEye, on 03/12/2008, -0/+0A novel idea certainly.Especially given there there are many children that are functionally illiterate without the assistance of spell checkers. So text speak, for those persons, enables that illiteracy to flourish because as long as they can text it, having a half way decent grasp of phonics, they don't have to worry about not being intelligent enough,or having the care, to actually spell complete words.

    You haven't lived until you've received a letter, that's been penned entirely in text speak, from a junior high school student . I'm so glad I had a fireplace at the time of it's receipt. It went up in flames in a beautiful whirl of crimson and black crisp pieces. Worth more in that moment of heat than anything the author was clearly not smart enough to say! If those types of children are our future, the world is fkd.
