- xyllar, on 07/12/2009, -0/+63Back in the old days these people would have probably hired an exorcist or something. Thank goodness we live in these enlightened times when we know that we can just hire a lawyer to file a lawsuit against such spiritual entities.
- CoreyHalliwell, on 07/12/2009, -0/+55A couple was golfing one day on a very, very exclusive golf course, lined with million dollar houses. On the third tee the husband said, "Honey, be very careful when you drive the ball don't knock out any windows. It'll cost us a fortune to fix."The wife teed up and shacked it right through the window of the biggest house on the course. The husband cringed and said, "I told you to watch out for the houses. Alright, let's go up there, apologize and see how much this is going to cost."They walked up, knocked on the door, and heard a voice say, "Come on in."
They opened the door and saw glass all over the floor and a broken bottle lying on its side in the foyer. A man on the couch said, "Are you the people that broke my window?""Uh, yeah. Sorry about that." the husband replied."No, actually I want to thank you. I'm a genie that was trapped for a thousand years in that bottle. You've released me. I'm allowed to grant three wishes-I'll give you each one wish, and I'll keep the last one for myself.""OK, great!" the husband said. " I want a million dollars a year for the rest of my life." "No problem-it's the least I could do. And you, what do you want?" the genie said, looking at the wife. "I want a house in every country of the world," she said. "Consider it done." the genie replied."And what's your wish, genie?", the husband said. "Well, since I've been trapped in that bottle, I haven't had sex with a woman in a thousand years. My wish is to sleep with your wife."The husband looks at the wife and said, "Well, we did get a lot of money and all those houses, honey. I guess I don't care." The genie took the wife upstairs and ravished her for two hours. After it was over, the genie rolled over, looked at the wife, and said, "How old is your husband, anyway?" "35." she replied."And he still believes in genies?....That's amazing!" - ScottMcIntyre, on 07/11/2009, -2/+56I guess that's what happens when you rub a genie up the wrong way....
- alamedaman, on 07/11/2009, -1/+46I'm Bob Goldstein, and I will fight for YOU! Genies, dragons, unicorns? We will take them all to court.

- jayrok, on 07/11/2009, -2/+23Jeez, even the spirits throw stones there.
- Nebarik, on 07/12/2009, -11/+29and Christianity's any better? its about a zombie that flew into the sky.
- israfil334, on 07/12/2009, -1/+15"But the BBC's Sebastian Usher says genies, or jinn, in Islamic theology can be a lot more sinister."
its not genies at all, totally different concept between genies and jinn.
According to Islamic belief, Jinn, is a race simiar to humans in the sense that they're also on earth as a test blah blah blah etc etc etc. Satan is not an angel because angels are perferct and are sinless, Satan is a Jinn and capable of sinning which he did by not bowing to man when God created Adam.
Man is created from dust, Jinn from fire and Angels from light.
Jinn and Angels are part of a category called "Al-Ghaib" or the Unseen.
I guess you can sort of call Jinn demons that posses people or houses sometimes but there are also good Jinn.
There's actually an enter Surah (chapter) on Jinn in the Quran,
http://noblequran.com/translation/surah72.html
Also the belief in Jinn is not at all lingering as mentioned in the last sentence of the article.
Why this couple is going to Court about this I have nooooo clue, first time I'm hearing about stuff like that in the 19 years I spent there.
My personal opinion? this article is fake.
Hope that was educational :) and again keep in mind that this is just the Islamic prespective.
oh and since we're on the subject I'd like to say this quick msg.
I've noticed a lot of non-arabs making fun of the word "Allah." Now, if you don't believe in God all together thats fine. If you do, please refrain from doing so. Why you ask? because Allah is literly just the arabic word for God. Christian Arabs use "Allah" when they're reading the bible for example. So if you do believe in God, don't mock that word because you're only making a complete fool of yourself when you think you're offending a muslim. - Stevanoski, on 07/11/2009, -2/+16I thought genies wore those great see through get-ups and danced kinda sex and all. Can't they just put a stopper in the bottle or perhaps not rub the lamp?
- yunus, on 07/12/2009, -1/+14Article mentions that genies can take human form. I'm betting within a week a scapegoat is found and stoned or beheaded.
- rocknog, on 07/12/2009, -0/+13Anyone else find it interesting that their description of the "genie" almost perfectly matches what we would call a poltergeist? Forget lawyers, they need to call the Ghostbusters.

- womweasel, on 07/11/2009, -0/+11The article claims that genies often act out of jealousy and yet we are also told that they can throw stones and steal cell phones with impunity. What more could they want out of life?
- DouglasQ, on 07/12/2009, -0/+11This house is clear.
- eightyd, on 07/12/2009, -0/+10Guess I never let terrible hokey 60's sitcoms bother me that much.
Maybe she converted to Islam? - djskyler, on 07/12/2009, -1/+10The Qur'an has prophet Muhammed converting his personal jinn into a Muslim, so they are somewhat required to believe it.

- samk, on 07/12/2009, -0/+6I'm betting that it was a real person who was throwing stones and stealing phones.
- Fhwqhgads, on 07/12/2009, -3/+9Muslims believe a lot of nonsense, just like all religions.

The djinn - not as often. - djskyler, on 07/12/2009, -0/+4@Soofi - In the 19th Century in the USA, a false prophet arose to offer a "New Testament II." He was named Joseph Smith, and he dictated these new "Words of God" by reading them out of a magic hat. Today his religion still going strong worldwide and is known as Mormonism.
This birth of a new religion is very similar to Islam. This site has much more good information:
http://bibleprobe.com/muhammad.htm - gcnaddict, on 07/12/2009, -0/+4Goldstein operates in Saudi Arabia? Damn; that's a lot of laws.
- rocknog, on 07/12/2009, -0/+4Unidentified flying objects? Well I'd be daft to not believe that people sometimes see things in the sky that they can't explain. However, if you mean the common parlance, that those objects are sometimes extraterrestrial visitors in spaceships, then no, I don't think it's very likely that that's the case. And even if I did think that they were extraterrestrial in origin, it would not be a belief, it would be a best guess. And even in my current thinking about the subject, I refrain from absolutes. I will not claim with absolute certainty that UFOs are not extraterrestrial visitors, because however unlikely, it still remains a possibility.
- Soofi, on 07/12/2009, -3/+7You have touched upon a common misconception that there is theology which pre-dates Islam - which is understandable if you assume Islam came about in the 7th century, but that is not what Prophet Muhammad taught.
The Qur'an states that the messenger (Muhammad) has not come with new-fangled doctrines, but that he is only repeating the same message which was delivered by prophets and messengers before him - namely that there is only One God, to obey the messengers in righteousness and that every person will one day meet their Creator for a reckoning of their deeds and how they lived their life.
Islam is a universal religion of mankind - it means submission and surrender before God - and the whole universe has been in that state of submission to the Creator ever since it was created, every 'law of physics' and force of nature is programmed to the will of the Creator.
Islam as a religious doctrine was with the first man, Adam and it was passed through the generations, via many famous Prophets and Messengers along the way, including Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad - if you look carefully at their messages, the core belief and essence is the same, but there has been some straying with the christians who introduced polytheistic nature of belief like Trinity, in what is otherwise a strict line of monotheism.
According to Islamic scripture, the Jinns were created before mankind was created - they roamed the earth in their own form of communities. Satan (which means 'the transgressor') was a jinn originally named Iblis, he was very much devoted to God and was privileged enough to be in the company of angels and God when Adam was created and presented to the angels - it was only after Iblis became haughty after the creation of Adam that he was thrown out of that high state, and since then he and his cronies have been intent upon leading mankind astray from God. There is alot more to the story, this is just a glimpse, a brief insight - jinns were around before the messenger Muhammad came to the earth in the 7th century, but Islam goes back to the One and Only God, who created these jinns and everything else in existence. Can you call jinns Islamic? these are just names and labels, just as people make up different names for God through the ages, the reality of God is still God, and jinns or any other creation don't belong to Islam or any other religion, they belong to their Creator who created them. - rocknog, on 07/12/2009, -1/+4Nothing more strange than one religious person making fun of another's superstitions. What makes your supernatural claims any more plausible than anyone else's?
- Moneyman28, on 07/12/2009, -0/+3god damn genies, always trying to make life hard for the working man...

First of all, you might just have the nerdiest name in the history of Digg.
Second, maybe it's the fact that there is at least SOME evidence for the Big Bang, and NONE for the supernatural beliefs of any religion. - erhanaltay, on 07/12/2009, -0/+3The same kinds of idiots that bow their heads towards a meteor rock in the center of Mecca 5x a day.
- erhanaltay, on 07/12/2009, -2/+5While all religions are pretty retarded, resurrection is a common theme... but as far as I know only Islam says there is another intelligent civilization with free will right here on Earth -- The Jinn. Too bad they are made of 'smokeless fire' and unseen by humans! Oh but animals can see them!
If this doesn't prove (to Muslims) that Islam is just a repackaging of Judaism with a splice of Arab Mythology, nothing will. People can remain stubbornly stupid when they want to. -
