      i saw this ad in shibuya all the time. they have a really bad STD problem because girls do NOT want you to use condoms. to them, it is insulting and sends a message that they are dirty.

    Japanese understand English in a very unique way. For example, the bus from the airport to Tokyo is a "Friendly Airport Limousine"; as westerners, I guess we don't understand what makes it friendly.

    I was in Tokyo last week and took several pictures of Engrish situations. The best one is the first one: it is an advertisement on the subway. Also look at the others and their description.

    For those who don't get it, the ad is supposed to mean, "STOP STDS!," as in, "stop the spread of STDs." Unfortunately, the improper placement of the exclamation mark makes it seem as if it's a warning that the woman in the ad has an STD. Further adding to the humor is that the model, Nana Natsume, is an AV star, or adult film star.
