            I remember working with a grad student once trying to extrapolate our findings in the rat brains to a 150 lb human being, going by what level mg/kg (mg of MDMA per kg of body weight) the neurodegeneration began to occur, and concluded that you could probably take 3 pills (I guess they would have to be pure pills) before any neurodegeneration started to occur.

            there are ways to completely block the neurodegenerative effects of ecstasy, like taking 5-HTP or an SSRI 5-6 hours afterwards, but the way in which most people end up ***** themselves is by doing lots of pills every day. probably even once a week is too much, as your brain needs more time to recover from the hurt you just put on it.

          I was under the impression that pure MDMA just messes with your ability to produce serotinin, but since Ecstasy is cut with a cocktail of other things like amphetamines, much akin to whats in Meth, it will breakdown your brain cells. This is part of the reason why most people who do ecstasy research the pill they are about to take / buy because meth is a horrible thing on everyones account, even those who do drugs.

          Ecstasy isn't always as bad as people think it is, but sometimes it is...every pill is different.

    Haha... that's not true at all. Ecstasy is meth with a serotonin kick, its MDMA, methylenedioxymethamphetamine, whereas opiates are completely different structurally and in terms of their neurochemical effects (effects opiate receptor neurotransmission rather than serotonin and dopamine neurotransmission).

    So... what exactly was it Russian government, ecstasy or meth with opiates??

        • FamineMonk, on 05/13/2008, -2/+0I don't know if it counts as an opiates but Ketamine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketamine) is very fun to mix with MDMA you just have to watch out if your taking more than 2 because too much ketamine and you won't be able to move. It starts off faster than just normal E because the ketamine only takes about 10 mins to kick in and then you feel sleepy and see some cool ***** and then when that wears off its just like normal E.

          There was some around here about a year ago called "yellow guys" that would just knock your socks off.

          P.S. i don't think ketamine is an opiate because they tallk about useing it to treat opiate addiction in the wiki or maybe its just a less harsh opiate.

There was one pill that tested positive for heroin, but it's believed that the pill was pressed just to fool dance safe. It wouldn't really make sense to put opiates in, they usually use something that will produce somewhat similar effects, like meth.

          you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, in any of your above statements.

          but most offensively, opiate is NOTHING like meth. both relieve pain, but the neurochemical mechanisms by which they do are completely different. plus, opiates make people sleepy & lethargic, meth makes alert & awake. i wouldn't describe the effects as "similar" at all.

None of those are really "street ecstasy." Also, I never said that opiates have the same effect as meth does, I said that meth has a similar effect to MDMA (which it does, it releases serotonin in a similar way, which is actually WHY it's used as a cut while other amphetamines are not).

          dude wtf are you talking about? you just completely contradicted yourself.

          Pure MDMA + filler = MDMA + filler = Ecstasy

          Granted, its ideal to have pure MDMA in your pill, but people have been cutting pills with filler for a long time and selling them as "Ecstasy" and nobody's seemed to mind much about what it was called until today.

          I'm only disagreeing with you because you're not making any sense.

ALL pills have inert fillers. pharms and street drugs. a drug can be "pure" and have fillers in it. these fillers just serve to give the pill shape/size etc.. but they have no effect on the human body. a "cut" pill is a drug that is not pure (eg; mdma cut with meth)

MDMA (ecstasy) is methylenedioxymethAMPHETAMINE. So, to say amphetamines are known components of ecstasy is sort of redundant because ecstasy is an amphetamine. Maybe or maybe not other amphetamines were mixed with the methylenedioxymethamphetamine, but saying opiates are known components of ecstasy really calls into question the credibility of the article. I don't think I believe it.

It has a deoxymethylamphetamine group, but this is not amphetamine, methamphetamine or any other sort of amphetamine. The 2,4 methylene- part of the molecule totally modifies it, changing its shape so that it does not react with any amphetamine related receptors.

        • apophenic, on 05/13/2008, -0/+5It is an amphetamine, because amphetamine means alpha-methyl-phenethylamine. Any PEA which has that methyl group at that position is considered an amphetmaine-there are actually hallucinogenic amphetamines, which have a similar structure to mescaline. Also, it still reacts with the same kinds of receptors as stimulant amphetamines do, just with different ratios (mostly serotonin), and it probably also releases some oxytocin.

It might taste horribly bitter and make you cringe and taste it for hours after it was in your mouth, but never has it created a 'sore' in my mouth.
        And come on man, you said "I double dog dare you", so I'm assuming you're under 5 or over 60, in which case, the only thing you've 'seen' is the propaganda our government has put out it about it.

        Oh, and you might want to see if whomever had the sores in their mouth might have had sores elsewhere.... some people even refer to it as herpes. Good cop-out though.

I was walking past some kids when I heard that and I was like, wow im going to stick around to see how this turns out because my money is on 'not well.' His gums were red, irritated and bloody in the way that isnt actually bleeding but if you put a towel against it blood would stick.

          Im thinking you all might not understand what a chemical burn consists of- caustic chemical + skin = chemical burn. Meth = caustic chemical; just look at what it is composed of.

          and Im 29. Havent you ever seen "A Christmas story"?

          How do you figure dosages between 5-12 year old kids? Their mass is going to vary so much; you would have killed some to get the asylum like scene described.

Granted some drugs are worse than others. What I found funny is that Meth is probably the worst drug made by stuff in Walgreens yet it countries that drugs are legal they don't know what meth is. Nice job War on Drugs actually makes new drugs.
