- thepompano, on 10/12/2007, -6/+26I wouldn't say he's a hypocrite unless he's also playing music past 12:00 every night. The guy has a totally valid point, it's just ironic that he's a musician.
- reddevil3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15"your" too young.
Sorry, it's just a bit annoying that so many people make the " you're " mistake now. - KlayBorg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Not always. In cases where your own house is actually shaking because of loud music, you know its too loud... or you need a new house.
- shadus, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13Actually in the rock and roll world that would be called "becoming a sell-out poser"
- blackgrape, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Not a hypocrite.
Primal Scream play in rock venues, away from quiet suburban streets.
Time and a place for everything. - reddevil3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@vbsurfer,
English is my 2nd language. What's surprising is that most of the grammar/spelling mistakes are probably done by native speakers. - WinterEdge, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Exactly. Time and a place for everything. Someone who races in Nascar doesn't want to hear some teenager gunning his engine down the street outside his house at 2 AM, no matter how much of a hardcore race car driver they are.
Even Hell's Angels need to sleep. - cryptic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5and I'm tired of all these ***** kids who can't spell hypocrisy.
- jcrewyayo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6as a former member of my bloody valentine... one of the nosiest bands to ever exist come on man! how can you even hear ***** anymore?
- AlrightMister, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4NIMBY douchebag.
- dongcha9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4#1 on the not metal list....what a gigantic bitch!
- punkdemons, on 10/12/2007, -11/+15If it's too Loud , your too old
- cliffzdude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It doesn't matter who you are or what your age is, when loud noise wakes your kids up and you have to deal with their ***** mood the next day you'll do what it takes to make it quiet again.
- wevegotthejazz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3hahahah you've seriously got to be kidding me..
I've seen Primal Scream live three times and they seriously were no louder or crazier than any average punk group, although they do have their moments
they were pretty tame compared to Bobby Gillespie's old group The Jesus and Mary Chain, who once went on stage in North London with their back turned to the croud and play nothing but feedback for 10 minutes, after which a riot broke out (a common staple of early London punk shows) - PopcornDave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4@thepompano
He does have a valid point depending on which was there first - the pub or the houses.
In San Francisco lots of local clubs, which were in industrial areas, have closed after people bought up the warehouses to make lofts out of and started bitching about the noise. IMHO, the people who moved in to have their nice serene loft should have checked out the neighborhood at all hours to determine what went on. And since they didn't, they should have no leg to stand on regarding the noise. But in San Francisco, homeowners are more important than business owners I guess. - syl1985, on 10/12/2007, -9/+11@ thepompano
Which I am sure he has done many a time.
Live music is being killed off in Australia too - and it's because of whingy ***** like that who move next to pubs, move to the country and feel the serenity if you want it. - lysdexia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Bobby Gillespie is totally cool and this just add to the lustre.
Millionaire rock-star with a penchant for the wild life in public, but a very nice Dad who wants a good nights kip when at home.
Ah...bless. - Maxo1128, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is really sad... Does this mean that Primal Scream's going to turn to an adult-alternative-soft-rock band now?
- NanoStuff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Meddling kids and their rock n' roll, get off my yard!
- ray901, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Primal Scream play in rock venues, away from quiet suburban streets."
Yes, I'm sure he went straight from picking up a guit to playing venues. I'm quite sure he never practiced in the garage in his parent's suburban home ever. - headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Pretty much what I was thinking. People go out of their way to go see a live, loud show. They don't necessarily want to put up with that day and night at home.
- osbjmg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Almost as hypocritical as Bam Margera.. Every day he talks about kids in his back yard or chasing them off. You taught them this, and you are a spoiled brat as well! You reap what you sow.
- mediaslave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Didn't something like this happen with Kevin Shields from My Bloody Valentine?
- m00dy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.duggmirror.com
- khyberkitsune, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is ironic. I can guarantee you he spent many nights playing till the ass-crack of dawn, just like other aspiring musicians such as myself, annoying people with mis-fretted notes and bad harmonics.
Someone call the waaaaaahmbulance. Either live for your music and let other aspiring people continue the legacy you help to carry, or die. The second you complain about the things you used to do to get where you are now is absolutely STUPID.
Unless your neighbors happen to be something akin to Blink 182 meets Brittney Spears. Then, I understand, and I'd encourage you to shoot them. ***** the police. - khyberkitsune, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hah, not. Metal up your ASCII forever, pal!
- vbsurfer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3@reddevil3
We can always assume people on the internet are all English speaking. - lysdexia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Kitsune - we look forward to the day when you, too, will complain about how loud music has become. And it will happen. Of course you'll be wise enough to look back and laugh at your pubescent outburst from early 2007.
- wevegotthejazz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1it was actually Kevin Shields from My Bloody Valentine, he did some touring and studio work with Primal Scream but that was it
either way, they both rock - tony134340, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Being called a "sellout poser" by some kids must really hurt his pride. I'm sure that would reform him into someone who likes him and his kids woke up during the night, along with the rest of the neighborhood.
- countmandible, on 11/15/2007, -2/+2It is really ashame that culture is constantly having to battle these fake-ass-bitches who move to the 'cool' neighborhoods and then try to impose their serious lack of cool.
Go get a tract home in the suburbs, or better yet with his money, he could just move to a gated-community. - countmandible, on 11/15/2007, -1/+1I guess I should read the article first then comment. His home is in the suburbs...ha. Well I guess it is merely ironic then.
- tony134340, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6I wouldn't call it hypocrisy, maybe he just done something called "growing up".
- rmad1949, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0When you cannot understand the lyrics [articulation] within a song, music becomes nothing more than what we call noise. Apparently Bobby Gillespie understands this quite well and knows very good and well that his 'music' must be contained within the walls and not let out of the bag too contaminate a neighborhood. Hence the bitch.
- holojames, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Kevin Shields already complained about his noisy neighbours - http://jonathan.greer.users.btopenworld.com/images/kevinshields.jpg - what's the world coming to?
- insomnizach, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Neither of those bands are punk bands.
- jcrewyayo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1ah yeah mang I was trippin' I was thinkin the jesus and mary chain.. my bad
- MinorLemming, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The guy is a whinging git... I've only ever seen them play live once at a festival, and all they did was slag off the headline act between songs. He took a chance to create new fans (people who never heard of PS but were there to see the headline act) and chose to alienate them instead. Thanks, but no thanks.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1those damn kids with their rock music and diet sodas
- anti_hax0r, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Yeah, I'm tired of all these ***** kids who think that don't know the definition of hypocracy.
- KamikazeeDriver, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2"Sorry, it's just a bit annoying that so many people make the " you're " mistake now."
Well i agree, but teaching on the internet, how to speak english is a futile attempt.
ps - i should be I, but why ask why? - ChessPieceFace, on 10/12/2007, -13/+9Oh the hypocrisy!!
- anti_hax0r, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Derrik, that's not irony either. Is that ironic?
- myFriendDerrik, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2I can't believe this guy! It's like rain on your wedding day. It's a free ride when you've already paid. It's the good advice that you just didn't take. Who would've thought... it figures.
