- Monkeybrains, on 10/10/2007, -1/+48The life of a repo man is always intense.
- insomniac8400, on 10/10/2007, -7/+35I find it funny when people are outraged that the bank took back something they weren't paying for. The parents are 100% at fault over this incident.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+22Why do i have to point this out?
Parked Car + 4 year old kid in back...
The father is an idiot, first by leaving his kid in the car and second by not paying his bills. - Tenlow, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14Not everyone knows just how expensive a 4 year old can be.
- Bukowsky, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15so the kid jumped out while the car was moving? Thats a brave little 4-year-old!
- BelXul, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Why does this weird stuff keep happening in Naperville?
- eaasness, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Have you have ever seen a repo done? A lot of the time they do a quick, and I mean quick, search of the vehicle tow it to a safe location and inspect it there. It would have been easy to miss child, especially if the child is hiding or something.
- asskicker32, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Well, pay your bills (not even all of y our bills, just the two or three important ones) and you will never have to deal with repo men.
I never have... IRS, on the other hand... - reed311, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6When you sign the loan contract, you agree that they can seize the car from you at any time if you default on your loan. Which means, they don't need the police or your permission before they do so. If you don't like the terms of the contract, don't sign it. Secondly, police consider it a civil matter and will not intervene in most states.
- OUberLord, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Could be tinted windows, could have been under blankets, could be negligence on their part, could have been told to hide there to try and cause something like this to happen to be used as grounds to sue. Who knows, really.
- AnteChronos, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8If you marry someone who is so stupid that they can't see the folly of buying things that they can't afford, then you deserve whatever misery you get.
- samurimaster, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7"No charges were filed against the two men driving the repo truck, police said, adding that the men checked the back of the truck and did not see the boy inside" How the heel did they not see him
- nreynolds, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4you think they'd repo a ticking box?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5In my whole life I have never had anything repoed. It sure as ***** doesnt happen from missing 1 payment.
Are you some waste of ***** life deadbeat or something? - spanglegluppet, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8The parents are idiots for a) not paying their bills, and b) naming a kid Fashawn. Ew.
- wildjohn999, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5There's no disdain for poor people here, the Diggers above are just saying that people should pay their bills. When did being responsible for yourself and not getting in over your head in finances become a bad thing?
- Gir53457, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3AMERICAN BROADCASTING CORPORATION. The same people who bring you weekly Mary-Kate and Ashley marathons.
- iBookG4, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Does ABC not realize the repeating blue background on the homepage of this site looks hideous?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Maybe the finance company should beat you to death for screwing with them.
- DucoNihilum, on 10/10/2007, -5/+8Who cares? The people who failed to pay their payments are thieves themselves.
- Corinthos, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3My friend was a repoman for a year or so. I went with him a few times. Pretty fun to steal stuff without getting in trouble. 95% of the time no one seen us doing anything. If it was at their place of work though we'd usually not care and welcome the confrontation just to watch them make an ass of themselves in front of their coworkers.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You mean like risking the kids life by leaving him in a car?
Maybe if the irresponsible parents had paid their bills, this wouldn't have happened so maybe you should try"
Your child's safety > driving a car you can't make the payments on
You are a dumb-ass. Please have yourself and any children you have sterilized for the betterment of the human race. - Gir53457, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Yeah. Four year olds are small and like to hide under things.
- Codexus, on 10/10/2007, -4/+7What is shocking is not that the property is seized. Is the way it's done, using thieves methods. It should be done with an order of the court, in presence of the police as part of a civilized legal process.
- Klarth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3ABC can't spell 'surprise'.
/facepalm - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Proof or it didn't happen.
Oh and capital murder and first degree murder requires intent, which means the driver would have had to set out to kill the girl.
You are a dumbass and should be shot, or at least sterilized. - Drizzit, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6Duco you're a douchbag. So you're telling me your whole life you never failed to pay a bill. Congrats you probably represent about 1% of the buying public.
Perhaps you should understand that 80% of all bankruptcies in this country are due to medical bills. Maybe the parents or child got sick and they felt it was more important to pay the hospital to continue to receive care rather than the car.
If you fail to pay for the house and stay, the police come and serve an eviction notice. It should be the same for cars.
The repo man here probably broke the law. The parents have rights and I hope they stand up for them. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2You are a dumb-ass. This has nothing to do with "$50M worth of subprime autoloans". It has to do with someone not paying their bills and refusing to return the vehicle.
Stop being a dumb-ass and get yourself sterilized. - slaystench, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I did repo work at RAC for close to a year. I never knew what to expect going in to take items back. I've been threatened with knives, guns, and random objects. I once had to take back a stove with a turkey cooking inside on Thanksgiving. Between being scared for my life at times and being depressed at other times, I had to quit.
- Tippis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2"Hello? Imperial Dragon Restaurant? I've got a herd of you-know-whats for sale."
"Let me check."
[Picks up Albert.]
"Oh, aren't you a cutie?"
[Puts him down]
"About 35lbs." - Nupeper, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2are you new?
- SirNoobius, on 10/10/2007, -7/+9horror? if you dont want horror pay your bills or dont buy things you can't afford
- XisZ, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Try telling that to your wife.
- BossKey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2"You repo men, you're all out to *****' lunch."
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2more FUD from the outrage machine.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I don't understand sarcasm so I'm going to insult you too, here goes: you suck.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Stop replying the same goddamn thing to every single comment. You're not clever or witty. In fact, you're downright annoying even if I do side with your points.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2They are not stealing a vehicle. The vehicle does not belong to the person who is in possession of it. It stopped being "their" car when they stopped making payments.
Maybe those dead beats should live up to their responsibilities. - reed311, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The repo man is contracted by the bank to recover the vehicle. They are working on behalf of the bank to recover their collateral. Most car loans are reasonable and people should not sign the contract which states "If you fail to pay your loan we have the right to repossess the property at any time". The law states it is legal (except in Luisiana) to recover vehicles even on private property. You agreed to it when you signed the contract. The law also says if someone didn't intentionally repo a car with a child in it, then it is not their fault if they immediately stop when they realize there is a child there.
- wshs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2When you get a loan to buy a car, usually, the bank gets the title. Therefore, the car is legally property of the bank, and you are allowed to use it until you pay it off. It is the property of the bank. It's not so much seizing your car as it is regaining possession of their car.
- NikoKun, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Cause my stupid home town of Naperville... is the center of weird in America?
The town is so full of itself... that it attracts this stuff like a magnet... - cygnus2112, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Hit and Runs are different. Intentional or not.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2You are a dumb-ass. The parents will be lucky if they aren't arrested. The repo guys did nothing wrong, but the parents did by leaving their kid in the car.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1"Fashawn"??
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1No, the people who aren't paying are the thieves here. They don't own anything, the bank does.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1How is someone getting their car repossessed for not paying their bills part of "fascist government being set in place by Busg"?
How is someone neglecting their child by leaving him in a car part of "fascist government being set in place by Busg"?
You are a dumb-ass. Please either sterilize or kill yourself for the betterment of the human race. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Sounds like I need better friends!
- archimago42, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I wonder if that fact that a four year old was unsupervised in a car outside while someone was "picking up another child" is the reason they didn't sue. Kind of hard to claim someone endangered your child when you are being criminally neglectful.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Repo men are the 20th century response to Robin Hood.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Rule #1 of America: It's never the deadbeat's fault, it's the system's.
