- Grimdotdotdot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+43RTFA properly: "Helping people is the focus, even if it means handing out heat packs to the homeless in the winter when hard-pressed to find something to do."
That's not all they do - he even suggests that they've beaten up a few criminals in their time, but if he said that outright he would probably become 'Mr. Jailed'.
And anyway, even if that *was* all they did - what the ***** is wrong with helping the homeless? - steveoco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+34How long till we have evil villans too?
- freshmaker, on 10/12/2007, -3/+33Wow, way to knock guys that just want to help out some unfortunate people. Who cares if you don't like the way they do it. How many times have you helped out a soup kitchen? I know I'm not doing enough. Let hem be superheroes in their own right. Kudos to them.
- chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20I'm going to Indianapolis (I think that's where it is) today wearing a two-face costume.
- endtime, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20Less war, poverty, and peace?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+26I would have been more interested in what sort of heroic acts this guy has done while on patrol.
Until then, he's nothing more than a mime with heat packs and granola bars. - LowenSoDium, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18This guy has nothing on Anglegrinderman
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/3112670.stm
But I will admit that Mr. Silent has a preaty neat costume. - noneloud, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18What exactly have you been doing that's more effective?
- vegasbright, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17aww, all the Mr silent Haters need to repect him for havng the balls to even consider doing what he does...unless its a marketing gimick.
- jonnyeh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Anonymously helping out the needy is considered even more honourable by many.
- endtime, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Wow, a lot of jerks here. I think this is really cool (though Doktor DiscorD could use a new name). It's a pity the article didn't have any stories of actual things they've done though.
- noneloud, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Says who?
http://myspace.com/supermanreturns - Kazenodeku, on 10/12/2007, -12/+23'***** Man'? Implied homosexuality? How clever. Do you write your own lines?
- detroitsux, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Can someone just add a comment on how their Mac or Linux box is much more superior so we can can turn this thread into every other thread on digg?
- DannoHung, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Hey, if people want to do citizen's watch sort of things while wearing garish outfits, more power to them.
- rekrapt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7It would probably not be in his best interests to divulge what he as done to "bad guys"... he'd be arrested for assault or interfering with law enforcement.
- bob_ross, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8"What is your kryptonite?
Bullets, I would imagine. Or Knives."
I just found that particularly funny. - reddevil3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7/hates people who write like this
- Midas7g, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6moral encouragement? Public actions are viral in human minds. Kind of a "pay it forward" and "one good turn deserves another" mentality.
- o0joshua0o, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7He should start taking PayPal donations so he can buy some proper superhero equipment. He needs a utility belt, a bullet-proof costume (or vest at least), grappling hooks, etc. Eventually he should work up to a Mr. Silent-mobile and an underground lair.
- dizzledaking, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5doesn't really bug me all too much
/wonders if the poster above hates themself?
//knows some places to get help for that - evilTak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Sure, they're just walking around, but two physically fit adult males patrolling in an urban area at night can do quite a bit to deter opportunistic crime.
- 00monkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5if only more people had the stones to do this, with or with out the mask the world would be a better place.. he is in inspiration to those of us that want to help but might be to shy to.
- IceSt0rm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Service is service, in any form. You can't bash him for trying to help out the community in his own way. You know if everyone tried their own unique way to serve others the world would be a much better place than if they didn't try at all. To some, it may appear as if he is hoarding attention...everyone has their own reasons as to why they help others. But what matters in the end are not your reasons for doing something but the fact that you are actually doing *something*.
I mean, in some parts of some cities, yeah, people would try to mock him and beat him up or whatever. Because they have lost trust in a world that doesn't do enough. But if you can stand on your own two feet and ignore that negativism, be strong for yourself and others then you should truly be commended. Call me an optimist but I think this is an interesting thing they are doing here. And not necessarily bad. I would think twice about messing with him. - evilTak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I thought it was Gene Wilder and Peter Boyle...
- prof23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4What the costume seems to have done for this man, is allow him to help others. He is an introvert and found a way to make himself an extrovert and then went and did something. On his my space page he said he recently helped a women get her purse back.
I say keep it up, he is doing more than most. - robustyoungsoul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"I'm sure many of us have had our hare of helping people around the city's streets. But putting on a mask and doing it is simply for hoarding attention."
Except for, you know, the anonymity. - hoopers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Personally, I look at it this way. Serving the community can be dull. I'm sorry, working a soup kitchen doesn't sound like fun. However, working a soup kitchen as a super hero? I realize that it may not be everyone's cup of tea but if it made it fun who's to complain? Some people wear iPods to make mundane tasks more interesting...why not costumes?
- evilTak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I thought it was just pointy white hoods that were illegal...
- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1needs a sword in the cane like that one blind guy in that one movie
- noneloud, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6Haven't we had those for a long time already?
- portwojc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1True Believer
- beezn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1no, pointy white hoods are plenty leagal in indiana - theres an annual kkk rally here but everyone hates it.
- DesireCampbell, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Well, I think it's a fine idea... but perhaps a bit of 'tweaking' is needed. Like, maybe a better name, or a costume that doesn't look like it came out of Falco's 'Puttin' on the Ritz'...
But, hey... fighting crime? Kudos to them. - rodan32, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree, the costume isn't the one I would choose. Needs more kevlar. And possibly plastic nipples, ala batman.
- brhad56, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1He looks more like a villan that a superhero.
- owenstarkiller, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Website does in the blog section. He sounds mostly harmless.
http://www.myspace.com/deaconaeon - beezn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Indianapolis is the 11th largest city in the US, trust me the measure woiuld be extreemely small.
- kindrobot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3This will all be funny and entertaining until the first of these guys gets a bullet in the head.
But honestly? Who doesn't want a utility belt? - astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Need to get this guy together with the Riddler (Frank Gorshe) for a good match...
Riddler: "Riddle me this... what has four walls and windows"
Mr. Silent: ** makes like a mime with the invisible box ** - rustyryan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1uh. you're wrong. I've seen him. A friend and I were hanging out downtown and after getting dinner at the qdoba next to monument circle we went and sat on the steps of the soldiers and sailors monument and talked for a bit. We both saw him walk by and were like 'wtf?'. Anyway... Indianapolis is a big city, you should know that.
rj - LunchB0x, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2hahaha thats great. I wonder if i can get him in Charlotte...
- connizzle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's pretty cool, real life superhero's, wether u think they're weirdos or not it's awesome to see someone actually going out there and helping those in need, especially the homeless.
- bshniper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Experiments should have measurable results. Can't you correlate the crime rate in the city area he operated in using the "google maps" of crime reports against the times before he was patrolling?
-Ben - thewebguy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2in that entire article they didn't mention anything he's ACTUALLY done.. i'm sure if he's still doing this he has to have stopped a crime or kicked some ass by now. no digg man, no digg
- pinoyboy82, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I was never a superhero, but i dressed up as a twinkie for purdue's breakfast club!! if you don't know about purdue's breakfast club, you need to... great excuse for dressing up like it's halloween on gamedays...
- cohortq, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1HOLY MIME BATMAN!!
- JCubed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I live, work, and party in Downtown Indy. I think if this story was true at all I would have noticed some dude walking around town in a silver mask (should have went more for a Destro look anyways)
Especially since the majority of the time I am with in sight of the area that this supposed interview took place.
reported as possibly(absolutely) not true - vize, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2So what exactly do they do? Other than hiding their identities, of course?
- nixr, on 10/12/2007, -7/+7I tried this same thing once.....when I was 9.
