- kinggimped, on 08/27/2008, -5/+25Ugh, ***** Daily Mail. It saddens me how often their sensationalist garbage gets onto Digg's front page.
I actually submitted something about this months ago. http://digg.com/odd_stuff/PICS_Cats_with_wings_You ...
Surprise surprise, it died pretty quickly and got absolutely no attention whatsoever. The link I submitted was a bit more in-depth and text-heavy, though. But as per usual with the Daily Mail, we just get a couple of pictures and a few misleading paragraphs of unresearched pseudo-journalism.
Matted fur, supernumerary limbs, and elasticated skin are (apparently) the three main causes of this (extremely weird) phenomenon. - lkms, on 08/27/2008, -1/+19wait until lions grow those. i think we should call them manticores.
- wiiittttt, on 08/27/2008, -1/+19Pigs flying is next. So many things will come true all at once it will warp the space time continuum.
- PrezMcCain, on 08/27/2008, -0/+16I'm never eating wings off fhe buffet again.
- Shippwreck87, on 08/27/2008, -0/+13From the article:
"One cat owner, known only as Feng, claims her cat's wings are a result of stress after he was 'harassed' by females looking to mate"
What a pussy... - inactive, on 08/27/2008, -1/+11Gotta love pollution!
- stonewaljacksn, on 08/27/2008, -5/+15new chinese delicacy?
...ahhh, stereotyping... - ParanoydAndroid, on 08/27/2008, -1/+11We're all going to be fine, as long as none of them grow an appendage that resembles a flaming sword. Then we're *****.
- aladrin, on 08/27/2008, -0/+9Can't read, huh? It -says- it's another cat with the same condition.
- PrezMcCain, on 08/27/2008, -1/+10Now to get some of these cats to begin my reign of terror...

- Fallout911, on 08/27/2008, -0/+6I loled!

- CatsAreGods, on 08/27/2008, -5/+11Then why not find someone to adopt it who actually *cares* about it?
- LastVisibleDog, on 08/27/2008, -0/+5No, China does not have a pollution problem......
- em00guy, on 08/27/2008, -0/+5have you ever tried to bathe a cat? A flying cat at that!
- paulzov, on 08/27/2008, -1/+6it has bone though.
- cavefish01, on 08/27/2008, -1/+6Wait... Falkor was harassed by females trying to mate?

- Kyrgizion, on 08/27/2008, -1/+5I had no idea Tressym were real! Amazing.
- artfiend77, on 08/27/2008, -1/+4Damn lady, bathe your damn cat!
- cavattack1, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3One step closer to pet Chimeras
- GiggleStick, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3Apparently, only gay cats grow wings, which makes sense when you think about it. But wait! Just how ugly were these female cats?
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3well you know males hate those desperate horny females trying to lure them into making a comittment - it read it was so yestreday right here on digg
- JohnFlux, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3The article says it contains bones too
- ceramufary, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3It shed skin?
Honey, that ain't no cat. - Namingway, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3awesome.
- bluedostoevsky, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3what. the. *****.
- disher91, on 08/27/2008, -2/+5I had a cat that looked like this... It shed its entire mat of skin and fur and the mat flapped around... looked just like that. This whole story looks like the cats started to shed their fur on a hot day. Big news!
- walkerboah, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3So if I stop washing my back I'm going to grow wings?
- ASSASSYN360, on 08/27/2008, -1/+3Breeding these cats has already began.
- gmiley, on 08/27/2008, -2/+4Looks like Nall from Lunar. http://lunar.wikia.com/wiki/Nall
- RegalGSX, on 08/27/2008, -2/+4Don't drink the water in China.
- DeFex, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2they need to do this with pigs. then all those things "when pigs fly" will come true.
- Cybermaul, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2They'll need tails that can shoot spikes as well, that would rock.
- kinggimped, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2Yep, but it's not sensationalist *****, and I have a weak-ass account for submitting.
Digg is socially powered, so long as you're a top 100 user... :P - rushiku, on 08/27/2008, -5/+7Oh... it's the Daily Mail.
Nothing to see here other than matted fur, please move along. - Aidje, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2Your original submission is way better.
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2did you read the article?
oh and shame on you for not taking care of your cat.
BURY. - inactive, on 08/29/2008, -0/+1It reminds me of those flying Wizard of Oz monkeys! lol
- urbanskwirl, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1buried for incorrect use of "which"
-pronoun police - cryonix, on 08/27/2008, -1/+2bones? any x-rays to prove that point? i didnt read anywhere anything along the lines of "a recent checkup confirmed the 'wings' contained a bone structure" its just taking a clearly crazy cat lady's words.
Long haired cats frequently get matted clumps, and can often become so tight to the point where they are soft and mushy with a firm core. Ever have dreadlocks? there is usually a tightly matted core that collects oils/dirt/wax that make them firm while they still have a "fluffy" outer texture. - rushiku, on 08/28/2008, -1/+2The 'article' is in The Daily Mail, the UK's version of The National Enquirer.
- shutaro, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1Sometimes I wonder of the brits just make these words up on the fly... I mean, we'd never really know the difference.
- Anomaly100, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1Streaky!!
- Gemfinder, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1Y'know, this doesn't surprise me. I was playing with my cat the other day; I held him up Longcat-style and spread-eagled his arms. You know the loose flaps of skin alongside cats' sides, between their fore- and hind legs? Those are patagia, friends.
I wouldn't be in the least surprised if cats evolved into glider-type critters, like flying squirrels and ramphorincus. -
