- YummyN, on 04/25/2008, -6/+301Are today's parents really that gullible? My mom would have never fallen for that *****.
- Ajnag, on 04/25/2008, -2/+282It was an obvious prank, but kudos to the kid who wrote it :) This is something to keep to yourself until your 10 year reunion...
- shadovvman, on 04/25/2008, -11/+194Only one condom for prom night? Pffftt.
- mediaspree, on 04/25/2008, -4/+163Whoever went with the girl in the blue dress better have motorboated that *****.
- thcobbs, on 04/25/2008, -3/+123You're right.... definitely overkill for you.
- mildewmedia, on 04/25/2008, -3/+78FIXED: not bad. I post on Digg so no girl would go with me. Really wanted to go...:( I did show up though, and lit firecrackers in the parking lot, and got half of my graduating class to come out and see the police take me away. Of course my graduating class was only 23 people
- FukUrCouch, on 04/25/2008, -0/+71It used to be that pranks would just be pranks and law enforcement wouldn't be called. I don't know what's going on with school these days, they need to cheer up.
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -7/+68I know people like this, and can't say its that bad of an idea. If your kids are going to drink, rather than driving around , better to have them do it in a safe controlled environment. Not saying its ok, but if it was maybe a graduation party, or something, i could see it.
- underburn, on 04/25/2008, -5/+59Epic Senior Prank.
- chiefbandit2200, on 04/25/2008, -1/+53I don't think it was meant to fool anybody... seems like more of a prank to be funny than to actually get parents to buy kids alcohol.
- lxZanderxl, on 04/25/2008, -7/+59Dugg for the nice ***** in the picture.
- hobbers, on 04/25/2008, -0/+42That, or you'd have some drunk ass high schoolers taking your tractor for a joy ride. WOOO
- CabesMojo, on 04/25/2008, -0/+41Went to a grad party like that, the parents had a decent plot of land little outside the city and when all the guest arrived the dad drove a big ass tractor across the driveway, that way no one could leave if they were even the slightest bit drunk without his consent.
- smspence, on 04/25/2008, -4/+40Great choice for the pic
- KibibyteBrain, on 04/25/2008, -2/+36The letter should have included the postscript: If your child frequents digg.com or slashdot.org, please disregard this message and do not give him the condom. Doing so may increase his already high chance of a depressive suicide on prom night.
- Smeed, on 04/25/2008, -2/+36I have a face!
- graemee, on 04/25/2008, -1/+34Yeah, wait for the statute of limitations to run out.
- Rizzen, on 04/25/2008, -0/+31Imagine her disappointment when you actually came back.
- Gndoab, on 04/25/2008, -0/+28No, it still does, only the kids and adults are more cautious about it, and you don't get invited to their parties.
- insertAliasHere, on 04/25/2008, -2/+30My parents never gave me alcohol, but they weren't stupid. They knew I was going to get it, so we had this understanding (mostly unspoken). I went out, and if I drank, I stayed there all night.. But I also came from such a rural area that nobody would ever get caught. We'd go out to somebody's pasture, or a mile or two back on their farm. I can understand that would be a lot harder not to get caught in a city.
But I do think that it's better if you are introduced to alcohol early, in a safe environment. Hell, where we were drinking, you'd probably get your car/truck stuck before you ever made it off the property if you tried to leave while drunk. And we learned our limits early, and got comfortable with our tolerances, and none of us got stupid with it when we were finally out on our own. But you read about people that never drank before college, that go to a party, get completely ***** up, and kill a family driving home. Early exposure is best. - Singletrackmind, on 04/25/2008, -1/+26And they say the Portland Public School System is failing.
- 776721, on 04/25/2008, -5/+29and maybe thats also why your a d-bag
- Amnesia10, on 04/26/2008, -3/+26It might be a prank but I would prefer my kids to experiment with alcohol at home. My parents let me drink what I want. As a result when I was legally allowed to drink, I had literally tried everything in the drinks cabinet. It also meant that I had more skill as a bar man, I knew what mixed. I also saw what drunks looked like, embarrassing. I also did not feel the urge to get drunk all the time. Luckily I am a Brit so can allow my kids to drink at home. Americans still have this puritanical attitude to alcohol that lead to prohibition.
- Merendino, on 04/25/2008, -16/+38Yeah, and the people they interviewed for that video are retarded... acting like its a huge deal. Its a ***** letter that's obviously fake people... They just love their controversy in America don't they?
- Nitrodist88, on 04/25/2008, -2/+23Well, anyone with an ounce of common sense would've seen right through that charade.
- jametta, on 04/25/2008, -0/+19I remember when the worst punishment was having to dump you own alcohol out when you got busted drinking, and told not to get caught outside again tonight! Now they haul kids straight to jail.
- KibibyteBrain, on 04/25/2008, -0/+19As intended I'd think. This smells of a senior prank, and not an attempt at actual deception. I mean, Drinkin' Lincoln?
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -0/+19The only reason that I wouldn't want to do that if I were a parent is because of the legal rammifications.
But hopefully parents raised their kids to be smart enough to get a DD or spend the night. - OniLynx, on 04/25/2008, -0/+19I love, misusing commas too.
- silfiriel, on 04/25/2008, -1/+20I'm not sure, but today's kids are surely a match to the challenge.
- TeacherOfHeroes, on 04/25/2008, -5/+23It's a shame the school *didn't* actually write a letter like this one.
- fuzed, on 04/25/2008, -9/+26Umm...I started to read the article...until I saw the accompanying picture. o_O ROWR!
- diggerphelps, on 04/25/2008, -0/+15
Well, I guess we got the answer to the question, "Is our children learning?". - Nougat, on 04/25/2008, -1/+16Apart from the bit about a fifth of liquor being enough for only one person, they would have pulled it off.
- fkr3, on 04/25/2008, -2/+17So you weren't allowed to go, but didn't want to go, but went. I think you can medication for all those personalities.
- larryboymi, on 04/25/2008, -4/+18Props. Mad Props.
- marx2k, on 04/25/2008, -1/+14I will never understand an age limit to drinking. And why 21? Tons of people OVER 21 can't seem to get their ***** together and be responsible with alcohol. Why the arbitrary number 21? Wasn't it 18 at some point?
- misterjangles, on 04/25/2008, -3/+16It's a shame that any adult who does something like this is actually setting themselves up for serious legal problems. We don't have the option to try to teach our children to drink responsibly without breaking the law. I remember being a kid and wishing that more adults were "cool" and would supply alcohol. I swore to myself that when I grew up I would be cool and buy alcohol for any kids that I knew. Now that I'm grown up and realize what a huge risk it is - I feel bad but it's not worth going to jail to buy a kid some beer. It sucks, but that's the reality of it with our current system.
- DangerMouse9, on 04/25/2008, -0/+13FIXED: Hello, I'm Jerri Blank. Thirty-two years ago I dropped out of high school and ran away from home. Oh, I made a lot of friends... did a lot of time. I was a boozer, a user and a loser. I stole the TV... Did some more time. But now I'm back in school! And though the faces may have changed, the hassles are just the same.
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -0/+13It's a new world. After 9/11, Columbine, and Virgina-Tech shooting. They might be terrorists! /s
- chlupululuu, on 04/26/2008, -0/+13more likely his parents are just not stupid
- Tenlow, on 04/25/2008, -0/+13Well it does raise a valid point. The kids will drink at parties. If you are in control of the party, you can make sure nobody drives drunk or gets into too much trouble.
- mboudro, on 04/25/2008, -3/+16They are HUGE!
- linagee, on 04/25/2008, -0/+12"Please find the attached condom stapled to this letter." (Stapled! LOL.)
- silfiriel, on 04/25/2008, -2/+14these kids today, are very innovative...
- tengoindiamike, on 04/25/2008, -3/+14Agreed... wasnt that half the fun of being that age ... doing illegal things!?!
- sircomix, on 04/25/2008, -5/+16Farce. Just sayin...
- BossKey, on 04/25/2008, -3/+14It's not a good thing...until one day, you are the parent.
