- amsterdamordeth, on 10/10/2007, -1/+60All the porn industry people keep talking about how it's illegal in the US to share files and TPB is breaking US law.
Well, someone pointed out that "porn" is illegal, not just immoral, in many countries. The same porn that gets delivered by their billion $ industry. So if "filesharing" is illegal based on US law, TPB should be blocked from every country where sharing files is "illegal". Under the same concept, the porn industry would have to block access to every country where porn is illegal, or face the laws of THOSE countries.
How ***** up is the US government? Will Ron Jeremy be extradited to India? - UtahApocalyse, on 10/10/2007, -3/+30block movies, block music, block software.... thats fine.
***** with my porn and this means war! - amsterdamordeth, on 10/22/2007, -5/+29I would also like to add, that a few years ago, I would not have approved of TPB's collecting ad revenue for filesharing purposes. Now though, more power to them. I hope they make another billion dollars and kick the crap out of these media companies, and the US government.
One day, the media companies may learn that ad revenue on filesharing sites is the only way they will make money off of the largest majority of these people, because they failed to catch on a decade before. Oh wait, they already do know this, and now TV can be freely accessed on their sites with their advertising, and these companies are still criminalizing people.
It goes to show you that it is about CONTROL and not MONEY. Want actual proof? Almost every library in the USA has a full DVD section, even with new releases. I know dozens of people who go to libraries and get movies for free. So does free constitute theft? If so, stay away from the libraries, and FM radio, or you may be called a thief.
Why is the age group of filesharers typically 14-24 year olds? Because they tend to have the least amount of money, the most amount of time, the least amount of common sense, the most computer skills (without an appropriate escape). Not to mention the fact that there are 35 million kids under 18 whose parents won't let them see a movie in theaters (R) or buy a CD with explicit lyrics, or games like leisure suit larry(etc).
I won't sit here and condone people who never pay for software, movies, music or games. If you like it, buy it. That is why the majority of software has a fully functioning trial version. This mentality has fallen over into media now because people are tired of buying a product that SUCKS, then told, "you can't get your money back because you may have made copies of it". Software doesn't fall into the same category as music and movies though because software doesn't get filtered down to "free" television. And software cannot be enjoyed over the airwaves. Software becomes free, or cheaper, when it is no longer useful, or needed. You don't see microsoft out there throwing filesharers in jail. WHY? Microsoft must have the most pirated product in the universe, and Gates is the richest guy in the world. And his worth grows exponentially even despite the people who may be using it for free. 2007 has the highest filesharing rates statistically, and MS still isn't bitching, in fact they are praising piracy in China, because in 10 years, they know they will have a HUGE market there.
RIAA and MPAA have to SUCK IT UP for a few years and lower prices to a point they will attract the majority of people away from sharing their content. Unfortunately, to many of them are worried about the backlash from companies like walmart and target who don't want competition in the media department. - JiMiThInG, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14This fight has made for some strange bedfellows.
- psiloinc, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13If anyone is going to sway the crew over at TPB or Tracker operators in general, it'll be a big-tittied, round-assed, bleached-blonde pronstar.
- coolboy0286, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14For ***** sake, they shoot fake porn for a living, what do u expect their intelligence quotient to be?
- insanebrain, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10A lot of diggers have a attention span of 15-20 seconds. .. keep that in mind next time you write a story.
- directsun, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9fake... porn...
Skinemax? - bittermang, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8I see what you did there.
- nomadxx7, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Because prostitution and sex are the oldest professions in the world. And though they may be dumb I'm pretty sure most of digg would know who Peter North, Ron Jeremy, Jill Kelly, Jenna Jameson, or Carmen Luvana are from their "work." May not be the most honorable profession but its pretty weird that you can become famous for just ***** for a living.
- wakeup2truth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3The Pirate Bay are acting within their rights. Lets not forget that it was MediaDefender who were operating outside of theirs.
- xtlosx, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4do we really care what they have to say? the empornium lives on!
- chuck667, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4"however that is for that country to police its own net and citizens"
By your rationale, It is up to the US government to police it's own citizens to stop them using Pirate Bay. They have no right to impose US law on a Sweedish company. - AriZoney, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5What a colossal ClusterF*ck...
- Vodka2389, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Who doesnt?
- QuickeningYak, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Porn... BitTorrent... I'm not sure who to cheer for.
- PFinn, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4in other news, the porn industry allows TPB guys to 'participate' in any of the films they want...in exchange for not hosting .torrents that link to porn files
- wiskers69, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2welcome to the internets
- noumuon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2what does education have to do with porn? have you ever been to japan? you should try it some time; people smarter and far more successful than you have an interest in all types of porn.
- positron, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Puretna used to be a good tracker but n the past couple months their server has slowed to a crawl. You're lucky if you can even browse the site anymore.
- SenorCardgage74, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2With an ass that tastes like french-vanilla ice cream?
- amsterdamordeth, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3funny how you call it stealing. What if a person has a netflixx account and only downloads movies he is waiting for in the mail, because netflix takes 3 weeks to send a dvd? What if the person pays for cable tv but chooses to download the shows instead?
- p51d007, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2As much as I could care less about the porn industry, if it wasn't for "them" who knows how long it would have been
before the VHS overtook (if at all) the Sony betamax (betamax had better picture quality).
Between the VHS vs Beta debate, video rentals started with porn, DVD's really took off from porn, some of the billing
practices started with porn and so on and so on.
I could care less if porn is on the web, as long as there are good restrictions to help keep it from being "easily" obtained by minors (this includes the parents!!), I don't care what they sell, as long as it is legal. Same thing goes
for "shock jocks" or conservative/liberal talk radio. They have this interesting device on radios called knobs or buttons.
You don't like it, change the channel. - xister, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Seriously- that article proves why porn people got into the biz in the first place.
- noumuon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2porn stars are not prostitutes. go ask ron jeremy if he was "reduced" to having to ***** for a living.
- maz2331, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Or... imagine Jenna Jameson extradited to Iran....
- joaob, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2When is the last time you've been part of a 14 billion dollar a year industry?
Probably pales in comparison to your $15 an hour job right? - Winston84, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1let's extradite Ron Jeremy to China - they have THE DEATH-PENALTY for smut-peddlers ..
- xister, on 10/10/2007, -0/+114 bil. a year.... And they're bitching about piracy. They've only lost an estimated 2 bil.
http://www.sfvbj.com/industry_article_pay.asp?aID= ... - GHoose, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You know, I would take these people more serious if the weren't THE PORN INDUSTRY!
- kodomosuki, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1By your logic, computers enable "stealing," plain and simple.
And if the TPB enabled others to steal cars WITHOUT THE ORIGINAL OWNERS LOSING THEIRS, they would certainly be treated differently. I agree.
Gah, clicked the wrong reply button. - Pinhedd, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2That's because Microsoft is one of the only companies to realise that Piracy does not hurt as much as some would like to believe. They make MORE than enough money off of corporate sales of Windows alone before factoring additional software sales that's used on a bootlegged OS, as well as licencing fees used to develope software which may be used on a bootlegged OS. They do just enough to combat piracy to placate investors and nothing more. If pirates want to have software for free, there's no way to stop them.

- bioslogos34, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This is like Bush Vs Iraq.. Only better.
- BrewmasterC, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1They should be thanking TPB for giving them information on who is seeding their content. I'm surprised some firm hasn't popped up that researches seeders, tracks down the location they are seeding from, and then sells the list to copyright holders so they can collect.
- Pinhedd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1guilty
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Can't they just screw and make up
- UNL1M1T3D, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Stick a ***** in it porn industry.
- razorart, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2p2p without porn wouldnt be p2p, would it?
go PB! porn industry is with ya! - actorboy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Actually, the premarital sex analogy is weak. In order for it to be the same, people from countries where premarital sex is legal would need to actively help people break the laws in countries where it's illegal.
- Kuestionmark, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0lol why would I waste time downloading it when i can stream it anytime I want?
- Kamill85, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1knives enable killing. I use them to cut my bread, and TBP to get ubuntu iso ;)
- amsterdamordeth, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0owned
- SillyDigger, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1empornium is a wasteland move onto puretna or chegget
- rbarr24, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0Not like I'm a literary critic, but am I the only person who thinks the article was written by a 9 year old?
- ButterBuddha, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2If Pirate Bau goes, where am I going to find high-quality Japanese porn???
- nomadxx7, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2The major problem is that the MPAA and RIAA think that piracy is taking away revenue while in all actuality they release garbage and expect people to buy it at $20 - $30 dollars a pop. I used to be all about CDs and DVDs but CDs would have the singles that were popular and other tracks that were garbage. If they release ***** to the public and expect $20 for it, I understand why people download it. On the other hand, if I watch a movie and really like it I will usually buy the actual DVD since burning a DVD != an actual DVD. Quality and whatnot on most burned CDs/DVDs is not on par with actual copies. Same goes for the MPAA when they release so many movies with the same cookie cutter plot lines and love story. Ever notice how there is always a love story no matter what genre you're dealing with. There are no "***** up" endings where the hero dies or a little twist at the end. Basic movie - Guy, hot girl, fight bad guy, kiss/*****, save the world. Hell Titanic had a love story and it was supposed to be a movie that was supposed to be a detailed account of the Titanic sinking. Stop going with the same cookie cutter model for all movies and you may find that people will actually go to the movies.
- Kuestionmark, on 10/10/2007, -5/+2who torrents porn..
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -10/+2I just love reading posts from uneducated people :), they make me feel so smart. I say, let them have their porn they can't get us anyway.
- Pingspike, on 10/10/2007, -11/+2Sorry but how much weight can one put into the word of people who are reduced to having to ***** for a living (or associated with).
Never mind bad logic and just being plain wrong, I'm impressed some of them can spell.
'tis a noble profession for sure.
